great food, classy decor, and great staff. but it's also a great place friday after work for happy hour with your girlfriends. the grapetini is like eating grape ape from hanna barbara. except grape ape talks like a neanderthal. and the grapetinis, given enough time, will make you do the same.

I just ordered a pizza from Player's on Madison it was hot a fresh just out of the oven. I have to say that the selection of toppings is impressive, and they are fresh. They did however skimp on the basil which annoyed me because it was my only topping; considering the hostess didn't hear that I ordered tomato as well. the crust is below par. It is not what I would consider gourmet, my mother makes a similiar dough herself. If you want to try a nice pizza that I would consider perfect, try Pier W. They make a perfect Margherita pizza.

Pros: Ambiance, fresh ingredients.

Cons: Hostess; not polite.

Having lived around Lakewood for over four years I've found that Player's is one of the best local restaurants. Although I've only ever gotten carry-out (generally assorted apps), the food has been fantastic. There's also a very nice patio in the back.\r

The hosts have always been nice, but there was once a bartender with a very condescending attitude.\r

Best recommendation: \r
Crab and Rock Shrimp Cakes with corn-avocado salsa.

Pros: Location & Quality

Cons: Expensive

Service is Ok, Hostess is pleasant. There is nothing outstanding here. Has a Van Gough atmosphere IMO.\r
\r
Order to table time is atrocious. Appetizers and salads were served at the time meal should have been. \r
\r
No idea how mac and cheese deserves $17 with no sides? It didnt appear to be made with any type of above average cheese. \r
\r
There is nothing ""wrong"" with the restaurant or service, it just is not my idea of a star rated place. \r

Pros: Can be seated before 6pm without a wait.

Cons: Close quarters, but due to lighting you dont feel it.

Food is NOT that great and the prices are HIGH. Hostess is ANYTHING BUT FRIENDLY. Been there twice. First time for take-out pizza, which was just OK. I don't know why everyone thinks this is so fantastic. Apparently their pizza tastes aren't high. Second time we ate in, encountered the surly hostess once again and had dinner for two, each with a cocktail. Dinner came to $85. That's a price you don't mind paying at a fancy place with great atmosphere and terrific food. Players ain't that place. Would not recommend.

Pros: Close if you live in Lakewood

Cons: Price, Better-than-thou attitude of the hostess, Food is merely OK

Don't mistake Player's for your typical pizza and pasta joint. Although their pizza is fantastic (I highly recommend the pollo pesto), Player's has quickly become my favorite restaurant for many other reasons. With such a great variety of appetizers, I struggle to make a decision (calamari, stuffed banana peppers, and brie are a few of my favorites). Their entrees are incredible and combine some unique flavors that go perfectly together. The chicken and pork tenderloin are two great examples that I recommend, and the seafood specials are always intriguing. A different flavored creme brulee every week is the dessert of choice, but the fried banana split is a close second. You can also order food for take-out and the pollo pesto pizza is a perfect choice. Service is remarkable.

Pros: Great Pizza, Great Selection

we had terrible service, pizza was undercooked and when we mentioned it, the server acted as if we put them out. Will not go back.

Players on Madison is a favorite. My girlfriend and I go about once a month and have never had anything but a wondeful experience. The modern styling is refreshing in an aging area of Lakewood, and the new patio is great for those who enjoy eating outdoors in nice weather. The price is more than reasonable, even ""cheap"" for the service and food received, although there is nothing cheap about this diamond in the rough.

Pros: Food, Price, Service

Cons: Crowded on weekends

There are neighborhood Italian places all over Cleveland, ones that would be called ""Mom's"" if they were diners. Cozy and informal, they serve good food, but nothing to write...
