I just moved into the area and have been to other animal hospitals in the area. I was happy that I found Dogs Only. The staff and doctor are warm and cheerful. They seem like they truly care about their patients and clients. They gave me some advise on many different pet products. They did not carry the products so they were not just trying to sell you something. The lobby is not cluttered with a lot of products which is a plus. The hospital smelled clean and did not have an animal smell that most places have. I love the list of different groomers and boarding places they recommend. I think I found our new doctor for our dogs.
I found Dogs Only was clean and the process for the visit well organized. I also appreciated that the focus was on the health of my dog ?? not an attempt to ??sell? me on a product that just happen to be available in the lobby. Everyone was very professional, polite and showed genuine concern for Shasta. Dr Prescott was very kind and made sure I not only understood the proposed course of action, but that I also agreed with it. Towards the end of the exam Shasta was beginning to calm down, I think she was becoming comfortable ?? She??s always hated to go to the vet.
This veterinary hospital charges much higher fees for office visits, procedures, vaccines and tests than any other place I have ever been. It is a beautiful clinic and the explanation from one staff member is that it costs more to maintain. They also insist upon routine teeth cleaning when there are many non invasive methods - like Plaque Off - which work just as well. If you truly care about your pet's health, read more reports from the American Veterinary Assoc. and you will see that not all Dr. Prescott's demands are necessary.
A puppy is a new adventure for our family and Dr Prescott has been great helping us all settle in. The doctor and staff sat down with us to answer all of questions. I really like when the nurses write down everything that has been discussed. Our puppy is always happy to come in; she knows that the staff really loves dogs. I am totally confident that our puppy will receive the best of care.
Our visit was welcoming and I left feeling condiment that Sadie was getting excellent care. The whole staff was fantastic and caring. We really appreciate how much time Dr Prescott took to explain everything. I have found my dog??s new doctor, we have been extremely impressed. We also love the specialized treatment.
My overall experience was great. The lobby was very nice and we loved the play area, it kept my 3 children occupied. Everyone was very friendly and courteous. They took the time and explained the different types of pet insurance. My dog has had many horrible ear infections in the past that never truley cleared up. After a few visits my dog is pain free and the ear infection is all better. So far this has been the best experince we have ever had and we are very happy we had switched vets.
My current dog has been seen by Dr. P since 2004, prior to that she cared for my previous 2 dogs. I am appalled by some of the posts on this site. Dr. P has always been professional and friendly at my visits. Whenever I am concerned about costs for a particular visit I always ask for an estimate and its never an issue. Sure I could take my dogs to a low cost vet clinic but that is not the kind of care I want. Dr. P and her staff know me and my dogs. When i have an appt there, I know what to expect.
I took my precious dog Jake to several vets including OSU and Med Vets and was never prescribed the "right" treatment until I took him to Dr. Prescott. Now,I would never consider taking him anywhere else but Dogs Only. I was looking for a vet who would not only diagnose and prescribe the correct treatment for my dog(s) but also a vet who would take preventive care of my dogs going forward. I highly recommend Dogs Only Medical Center to anyone who has a pet with special needs.

I became a proud owner of a yellow labrador puppy last April. I decided to take her to Dogs Only and I could not have been more pleased. Now, she is almost a year and Dr. Prescott and her staff have given me all the information and recommendations that has not only made me a better dog owner but Bailey the dog she is today. When we are there for an appointment she is so excited she practically drags me thru the door!

Truly a terrible experience. My yorkie needed her remaining 13 teeth out, received an estimate for 445.64 then after my dog was out that increased to 2258.27. DO NOT TRUST THIS DOCTOR. SHE IS EVIL! SHE IS DECEITFUL! SHE HAS REFUSED TO EVEN ACCEPT MY CALLS TO DISCUSS THE MATTER.

I agree with the user who left the anonymous post. We were charged double what the estimate was for a surgery and when I asked the staff about it they couldn't tell me why.
She does make you feel guilty if you ask for other options. I am not an ignorant dog owner and I knew in this instance there were other options. Apparently, her way is the only right way and she gets really mean about it and will even talk over you, preventing you from asking questions or stating your side. She will also say things like "well sure there is this option, if you desire to cause your dog lots of pain, go ahead." She makes you feel like you're only goal in life is to cause your dog pain by asking for options. She makes you feel awful if she mentions something about your other vet or why you shouldn't go somewhere else. None of this worked on me though. I can't recommend her.

I have had several dogs over the years. I have gone to other veterinarians but now that I have found Dogs Only, I won't go anywhere else. There is only one veterinarian, so my dogs see the same vet everytime. This is rare-most animal hospitals are chains or have multiple vets. Call me old-fashioned but I prefer the one on one attention. It is the same vet treating my dogs every time.
My one dog loved everything about going to the vet while my other dog was the opposite. The staff at Dogs Only knew how to deal with the opposing personalities.
I am not a "cat person" and my dogs bark at cats so it is a relief that we won't be in the waiting room with a hissing cat.
When my dogs have needed surgery, they always provided me with estimates. I also apperciate the reminder calls.
Pros: 1 vet
My dog (Scarlet) and I were taking our daily walk when another dog ran off of his front porch and attacked my dog. She had been bitten pretty bad on her back. I carried her home and immediately called Dogs Only. They were able to see me right away.
I am so thankful Dr. Prescott was able to help Scarlet. They cleaned up the wounds and gave me medication. Scarlet's wounds healed up nicely.
The staff is very friendly and is always helpful when I am there with Scarlet. Scarlet loves it too! When we get out of the car she practically drags me inside.
Pros: able to fit me in

After moving to Gahanna, we received a postcard for a Free Consultation Visit for this place and figured we'd try it out for our healthy 1-year old Black Lab. We took her to Dogs Only and were happy with the waiting room and how it really seems built for dogs. The facility overall seemed to be very nice.
After getting into the room and being shown a slideshow on how dogs are wolves and that we shouldn't feed her just regular dog food as that's primary vegetarian - we thought the place to be a little odd but kept an open mind. After all, the slideshow did have a good point. Another point of the slideshow was to sell themselves as experts which also also seemed odd as we were already in the office, but it was nice to have something to do while waiting for the doctor.
As we were in the waiting room, we were asked to come up with 3-5 questions about our puppy to ask the vet. We guessed that this was in part to help us see their expertise and knowledge and to make a better judgement if we should continue to bring our dog to their facility. We strained our brain and finally came up with a few questions in regards to our dog, one of which was that our dog tends to start her business before she actually finds a spot, lending her to pooping in a circle. This really isn't so much of a problem as a curiosity, which we expressed to the vet.
When the doctor came in, she was incredibly professional and answered all of our questions. In response to the rather odd pooping pattern, she suggested cleaning of the glands and a test of some sorts but ultimately came up with no concrete answers. Then they also gave our puppy her shot and gave her flea/tick pills (which imo, she doesn't need as she's never had them) and heart worm pills, telling us we needed them for her.
Now, I'm not a stupid woman and know that generally you don't get an entirely FREE consultation, but when we got to the counter and had to pay $300+, I was pretty pissed off. As we'd already had the service there, I didn't say anything but I tell you, I will NEVER go back. $300+ when they knew very well that we were coming in for a FREE consultation is pretty ridiculous. You'd think that they would have at least mentioned the outrageous costs to us when they suggested the tests. In general, we have the same thing done at our current vet and never pay more than $100.
I will also definitely agree with the comment about judgmental/condescending - they are dog people, not people people there and will guilt you and be very mean if you disagree or choose to not do what service they recommend.
The entire experience left me and my husband feeling more swindled than we would at a used car lot and our dog was no more healthy or happy than before we went.
Pros: NONE!
Cons: Used-Car Swindling, Condescending Attitude, EXPENSIVE++
Dr. Prescott and staff are wonderful. They were very compassionate when Ruby was ill. They were also very reassuring when my husband and I didn't know what to do. Ruby is all better and we are very thankfull for their help through such a difficult time.
Pros: location
Cons: construction on Johnstown Road

Pros: My dog loves going to the vet!
Cons: no boarding
When my dog had to be hospitalized Dr. Prescott was very caring. I received constant updates on his recovery. I knew he was in good hands and I will be forever grateful.
Pros: Caring staff, location, rawhides!
Cons: Wish I had taken my dog there sooner
I just moved to New Albany and received their newsletter in the mail. I called to make an appointment and they were able to fit me in sooner than I had expected. The staff was very friendly and were insterested in Mitzi's care. It was a great experience!
Pros: very nice building, great website
I was a new resident of Gahanna, and Dr. Prescott's office was very convenient to my neighborhood. At first I thought I was misinterpreting Dr. Prescott and her staff. Instead of being asked about new (and sometimes expensive) treatments or shots for my dog, I was told. When I questioned anything, I was met by defensiveness and an air of condescension. I had patronized some of the best vets in Columbus, and none of them charged as much for basic services, nor treated me in this manner. There was also an underlying feeling that making money was more important than how the customers - both two and four-legged - were treated. The final thing that compelled me to go elsewhere occurred when the name of the practice changed to Dogs Only; there was a complete change in the personality of Dr. Prescott. It was as if she was trying too hard to be nice - or nicer. It felt very inauthentic. They also began to send (many) offensive color advertisements about heartworm treatment that showed a very graphic photograph of a heart devastated with worms. In all, after having many wonderful animal companions in my life for over 30 years and going to several vets, I would never recommend Dr. Prescott or Dogs Only to anyone.
Pros: Nice facility.
Cons: Too many to list, please read review.
I took my senior dog to Dr. Prescott when others said he couldn't be helped. I am so thankful I did, because she was the only one who figured out what was wrong with him & now he is acting young and frisky again.
Pros: Professional yet still personal
She helped me when I was over 1000 miles away & my dog became very sick. Even my husband who never met her was overwhelmed with the kindness and empathy she showed us that day.
I am in the customer service buisness, so I know that wheter it is a/c repair, the dentist or the vet office, everyone's experience can be different. I found this to be one of the best offices I have ever visited. It was clean, and the staff was very friendly. I got alot of dog information that I had never heard before and my dog was treated very kindly.
I received an offer in the mail for a free examination. My dog was due for her physical examine so I figured I would try it. We had always gone to Gahanna Animal Hospital but this was closer to my home. The only thing that Dr. Prescott did our of the ordinary was a heartworm test so I thought. When I got to the desk to pay to my surprise my bill for that "free" examine was $250.00!!!!!!! I will NEVER return!!! They took my dog in the back for a "free" nail trim which they ended up cutting too short and were bleeding when they brought her back in the room but to find out they also took a urine sample to due routine tests on. I have owned dogs for over 15 years and NEVER paid this for an examination on a perfectly healthy dog!! I was outraged and will not return!!
Pros: There are not any when you pay $250 for a free examine!!
Cons: Outrageously overpriced!!
I appreciated Dr. Prescott's caring and direct approach. In just one visit Brutus is looking and feeling much better. She was confident in her diagnosis and treatment which made me feel at ease. It was the first time in a long time that I felt good about the vet he is seeing. The staff was warm and friendly and the building was very clean and didn't smell like a vet office.
I just moved here and everyone there made me feel welcomed. I was very thankful when they gave me a list of services for my dogs in the area, so I didn't have to go looking for a kennel. I was especially pleased with Dr. Prescott, at the visit because she was very gentle with my 10 year old dog.
I have had problems with waiting at other vet hospitals but the wait there is way too long. You could wait in the lobby 20-30 minutes and then another 30 minutes in the room before the Dr steps in. The prices are outragious. You can not leave without spending over $300 if your pet is well. They also try to pressure you into buying un-needed things (harness and combs). The staff seems wonderful and the dr is knowledgable.
Cons: too high prices and too long of wait.
Pros:The office is clean and smells good.
I?ve been taking my puppy to Dr. Prescott a few times, but the more we go to her the more I feel like we are a big inconvenience to her. She seemed nice at first, but the more we talked the more I felt I was being pushed off. At one point in time, I must have asked too many questions because she got really snappy with me. But what irked me was the manner in which she responded to some of my questions. This is the first time I have ever owned a pet of any kind and I just want to make sure I?m doing it right. At one point she responded to me in a way that totally shocked me. She basically told me that I didn?t have a right to be asking her questions because she is the vet and her job is to heal my baby and let her do her job by doing what she needs to be doing. I am sure she is a good veterinarian, but I don?t think I?m comfortable going back to her.
Dr. Prescott took the time to let my nervous dog warm up to her and didn't rush the visit. This iwas the first vet visit my dog ever enjoyed.
Pros: clean & friendly office
We had an excellance visit with Dr. Prescott. She was wonderful with Ty. She got right down on the floor and started playing with him. I learned more from her about dogs on that one visit than I had in many years of having dogs
I was very happy when I met Dr. Prescott. I could tell she truly cares for her patients. It was the first time I met a vet so passionate about my dog's health
AfterAfter giving Dr. Prescott the benefit of doubt several times we have opted to find a new vet. She never answers my questions. She spoke down to me. Pushed services and treatments on my dogs even when I wasn?t comfortable then she was saying things to me like, ?I?m sorry then for your pet because it is my job to fix it and since you like to cause your dog pain?? I got a second opinion on my dog because something about her didn?t sit right with me. Turned out to be a misdiagnosis. I get the feeling that because she ?specializes in one breed? that she can basically see a symptom that could be a symptom of a multitude of diseases claims it a certain disease b/c she sees one symptom and then makes money off of her client.
"I was so thankful that I found a doctor who figured out what was wrong with Bowzer-Thanks to Dr. Prescott now he is like a pup again.?
When I called, I was upset about my dog being sick and the receptionist put me at ease.
Dr. Prescott showed compassion that's rare these days and now my dog is doing great
She was very pushy and overpriced. We scheduled an appt after getting a card in the mail for a free consultation. It was time for Heart Worm meds, so we thought we would give her a try. She commented on our dogs retractable leash, saying she does not approve of them and did we know they were banned in Europe. This type of leash works very well for us, and we've never had any problems. Then, she said we needed a special harness (which we did not, our dog does just fine in her regular collar). We only went in for Heart Worm meds and a check up and she tried to sell us everything, even a special comb for shedding (even though we already have one). She also barked orders at her staff and treated them very unkindly. We were very disappointed upon leaving and decided to never return.
Cons: Rude, pushy service
Wasn?t all that impressed. Dr. Prescott seemed nice, but came across in a patronizing way, especially when I asked a question or advice on something. I?ve been to better vets. Office was clean though, wasn?t dirty like some are.
I was impressed with the passion that Dr. Prescott showed to my dog. I like that I always see the same Doctor, every time, and that everyone knows mine and my dog's name.
Pros: They give me alot of useful dog information when I go there
Cons: havent found any
Regardless of your pets history, behavior, ect. Dr. Presscott will only believe what she sees or thinks she should be seeing at the moment. In other words, she generalizes dog behavior to ALL dogs and will push treatments or options on you based on that generalization. However, when I tried to explain that my dog doesn't follow the behavior pattern she claimed it did she became indignant, interrupted me and would not let me finish talking. Instead, she talked over me and put a huge guilt trip on me telling me that "in all her years of experience" she knows that what I am saying isn't true and that although I've "lived with my dog for 3 years that I must not be a good dog parent to her." But, I guess since I've only had dogs my entire life and I live with my dog, I would not know if my dogs can't take pill pockets or need a certain harness (other than the one we have that works great), or that my dog continues to choke on rawhide bones (but don't worry dogs descended from wolves so its OK), or that my dog can't tolerate getting it's nails clipped (which she can and she really doesn't mind). Also, if you do go to her, if you ever ask for an estimate make sure you get a printed and signed full estimate. I asked for an estimate for a treatment and although it wasn't to terribly expensive I was charged double than what the estimate claimed. We've been going to her for awhile now, but am currently looking for another vet.
I am one of the few cat owners that have been going to this place since it was Stoney Memorial Hospital. I really am pleased with how the staff really is caring for my cat. I have been to other veterinarians which were pretty good but they were very expensive and the waiting area was not the cleanest. It is actually like waiting in a docotr's office for humans. Dogs Only Medical Center is the cleanest veterinary place that I had ever been. The staff is always very friendly and really shows their affection for my baby. Dr. Prescott is very professional but she also has a gentle touch when it comes to my kitty. My cat ususally is very nervous and scared when she goes to the vet but when she goes to this place, she is calm and not frightened at all. They have always treated her very well along with me and my husband. They have always given the estimates in a timely manner. They actual bill was in line with the estimates. They always are very understanding when I am concerned about my pet and I have no worries with them caring for Murdocka. My husband highly recommend them to everyone.
Pros: caring and professional
Cons: none
Don't bother taking your pet here. I received poor service and there was an utter lack of professionalism. Wish I had read up on this vet. before I checked her out.
Notice how anytime someone writes a bad review an extremely professional written EXCELLENT review pops-up OR you'll see a review in "quotes." She's about as sketchy as her service. Btyqueen-same exact thing happened to me. She ran tests without my consent saying they were going to trim his nails as I had asked-except they never trimmed his nails. Also I was given a price quote for another service and our service ended up being TWICE as expensive as what was quoted. When I asked about it she became hostile. So I wrote a bad review about her. Then she kicked me out of the practice.
She also misdiagnosed my dog which screwed up my pet insurance. When we finally got things straightened out between the two of us she told me if I needed help to contact her again. Pet insurance needed a letter from her so I asked her if she'd send them one. She refused and told me if I ever contacted her office again she'd seek legal restraint.
All of this was due to me professionally asking about a bill. Never once have I ever been yelled at or treated this horribly by a vet or any professional.
She seems great if you're a new pet owner and never have had a pet before. If you're pretty knowledgeable and start asking questions about a treatment she becomes upset. Dog's Only is named Dog's Only so they can charge you an arm and a leg and so they can do whatever they want, diagnose however they want because "their the dog experts." If you want to remain on her good side don't ask questions take her words as is.
BTW-she never did write the letter to my pet insurance so pet insurance is still screwed up. We got the pet insurance because she recommended it. My biggest regret-is visiting her.
Yes, her office is clean, but I've been in many clean offices.
Pros: Office was clean-but every vets office I've been to have had extremely clean offices
Cons: terrible customer service, unprofessional
?The professionalism and care taken of my pet was exceptional.? ?The doctor treated my dog as if it were her own-I really appreciated that.?
Pros: This vet office doesnt smell bad like most
Cons: construction on e johnstown
She is very very r rude and condescending. She nor her staff take time to listen to you, when she typed out our visit notes she got many things I said wrong. When you have a question about a treatment shje gets in your face and tells you that it is nonnegotiable. We will not be going back.,
Pros: No pros
Cons: doesn't listen to you, ignores questions, gets facts wrong, more interested in making money
While raising my puppy for the last 8 months, Dr. Prescott and her staff have been wonderful. They have helped me keep my pet healthy and happy. He loves seeing the group there, and they show nothing but love for my dog. Their advice has been incredibly helpful, and I can't imagine what else someone would want from a vet.
My dog Walter LOVES his visits to Stoney Memorial!!!
Pros: The seemed to be very available whenever I needed advice or a quick appointment.
