I haven't lived in Columbus for that long. I haven't known about Carfagna's for very long either. We've lived around the block from Carfagna's for 5 1/2 years. My husband, born and raised up the street, would stop at Carfagna's and buy stuff (usually steak) to make me special meals. I never went in myself because it was always so busy and I wasn't sure how the store worked.

Well, one day my husband brought home some chicken tenders - my meat of choice. I was amazed at the moistness and taste of the chicken. I went in myself and bought some cube steaks because they looked tastier than those I found at Giant Eagle. They were the first cube steaks I've ever had that didn't have all the gristle that made them hard to eat. I was sold.

Now I don't buy meat anywhere except Carfagna's and I tell everyone the same. They have the best breads and home made salsa, home made bread crumbs, and home made pizza sauce, etc. I drive past there several times a day. When I see that the parking lot is full, but the parking lot next door is empty - I take a spot and run in. It's well worth the wait anyways - best meat around!

One thing that messed me up was not knowing to take a ticket to "be in line for the meat counter". Make sure to find the red ticket thing at the back counter. This puts you in line for every counter. The same person will get you every type of meat including deli. If you wait at all to get the ticket you could end up 10 numbers away from where you started.

I often shop on Sunday mornings when they open to beat the crowd. Of course crowds mean only one thing, it's that good. The beef, pork and poultry are all Ohio raised and of supreme quality. Pay attention to when the sales are and buy in quantity for good values. Baked goods are made on premise.... Discover this gem for yourself. As well, try the restuarant East of 71 at polaris. Fantastic italian fare with family style seating, great wine prices and a fantastic family friendly atmosphere.

I have shopped there for 20+ years and have used their catering services as well. Excellent food- whether Italian or American. Prices reasonable and 4-star service. Parking is a little sparse but don't let that keep you away. They have an in-store bakery and offer a lot of unique items. I especially like the pre-packaged foods that save me time.
