This grocery store has always been clean when I go in. The employees are friendly for the most part. There are a few that are more helpful than others. If you use coupons be prepared as they only allow 4 like coupons per day (not coupons total but the same coupon). If they are having super doubles then it is only 2 like coupons. That can make it a pain when you live 1/2 hour or more away. Sale items are usually stocked, but if not they do issue rainchecks no problem, and no expiration date on them.

I'm still trying to figure out their name. Why is it called "Giant Eagle" of all things? And why was it's predecessor named "Big Bear?" Is there some sort of unspoken low amogst grocers that you must name your store after some sort of large animal? Regardless of the name situation, I like Giant Eagle very much. They have a wide selection and very good prices.

Giant Eagle's prices are a little bit higher than other area grocers, however they offer superior products and the store is consistently near and tidy. The small premium seems justified, to me, for the enhanced product selection and overall shopping experience. Employees are friendly and helpful. The selection of ethnic foods, vegetarian/natural/whole/vegan/etc. foods, and other specialty products available here is unrivaled in the immediate area. I would definitely recommend it.

PROS: Ethnic food, specialty foods
CONS: Slightly higher prices
