Epstein Avrom D Md - Central Ohio Neuro-Opthlmlgy

I have seen Dr Epstein on several occasions. Though he is very knowledgeable, I feel the time spent waiting for him was just too much. I understand his field is very specialized, but to wait for an hour or more just to see him, then another hour after tests and so on, one appointment lasted 3 hours. It is just too long. After all the waiting and costly test, he can't find anything.

I was referred to Dr. Epstein by my PCP. I was in the exam area for 5 hours, most of it waiting for Dr. Epstein to come in. When he did, he was dismissive of my condition, not wanting to call it a condition, and did little in the way of examination - only one test, which was inconclusive. He sent me on my way wishing me "a good and healthy rest of the year", however I left, still in pain and in need. I was extremely fortunate and blessed to be sent later to another neuro-ophthalmologist, Dr. Benes, who made several tests, was very thorough, and was able to identify what was wrong with me and get me prescriptions for my issue. In Dr. Epstein's favor, he was very gentle and kind. Good bedside manner, but ineffective.

I saw Dr. E for about a year before switching to a new doctor. He was more about pushing a stronger medicine and higher dose. My doctor was more about finding the cause and trying to fix it rather than mask the symptoms. I was very happy I switched to Dr. Benes. Her equipment is also far superior.

When my usual eye doctor referred me to him, he got me in the next day. This was helpful but is also part of the problem. There is always a long wait. Not always long in the waiting room, but the exam room. I have never had an appointment take less than 2 hours. Its usually 2-3 hours. Mostly waiting for him to come back in. He is very knowledgeable and explains ALL options.

Dr. Epstein has treated me on several occasions, and has provided excellent medical attention. He is very thorough, explains his findings and treatments, and is very considerate of his patients. Once, when I was at the emergency ward of a hospital for an eye-related problem, the attending physician contacted Dr. Epstein and explained the situation. While Dr. Epstein was not planning to be in his office that day, he asked that I be taken there so he could examine me. I have every confidence in him and I understand from other doctors that Dr. Epstein has a stellar reputation in the community.

My daughter had a head injury and we had to see him after she was released from hospital. Very nice people. Very satisfied with the practice. He found things that was missed by other doctors. Very small office. Not a long wait time to see the Dr.
