My husband and I went up there two times looking at cats. The first time we said we wanted to adopt a cat and they said it was too late because they were closing. So we said ok sorry about that. So we waited til we had another day off from work. I called the day before we went up there to see if the cat we were interested in was still there. I called and asked them if us having a dog and cat would make a difference, or what information did they need about the other cat and dog. They told me it wouldn't matter we just needed to fill out the application and a photo ID.
So we go up there about 35 minutes away. Saw the cat, got her out. Then told them we wanted to adopt her. We filled out the application. They denied us because we were being honest that our dog which is 6 yrs old was not fixed. They said it was against their policy.
What kind of place would deny a cat a good home just because a dog is not fixed? Why didn't they tell me this when I asking questions before we wasted out time driving up there. Now the cat we were going to adopt gets to sit in a cage for who knows how long. She has been up there for two months already.
I think having a policy about your pets being fixed is discrimination, specially if it is not of the same species. I will NEVER GO back up there nor recommmend this place. Some of the people were rude, they made you feel that you were wasting their time. Aren't they there to help these animals find good homes? It doesn't sound like that to me.

This place is anything but humane. All cats taken there are killed after being 'evaluated.' Basically all animals that are not cute, friendly and healthy (therefore adoptable), are killed. They receive 30 cats a day (one employee told us this) and yet there are currently less than 100 cats for adoption, some of which have been there for months. Which means they kill at least 20 cats a day there every day and who knows how many dogs. This place is a concentration camp, not a shelter.

I got one of my cats from this shelter. Their prices were reasonable and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Although, as previously mentioned, the building is slightly run down, they try to make things as nice as possible. I would definitely go back to them.

This place is a good place to adopt a family pet. The facility is a bit worn and dreary but the animals are healthy and well cared for. The animals have great vet treatments and are up to date on shots and spayed or neutered. The lobby is very clean and the staff is helpful and friendly. They were able to answer all of my questions and were not pushy. They keep their website up to date. This is a great place to find a high quality family pet.

PROS: website up to date, well care for animals
CONS: older building
