I purchased a puppy at Jack's and he's simply wonderful; catch is, as soon as we got him home from Jack's he was throwing up worms, and had tapeworms in his stools. They were even crawling out of his rear-end. I took him to the vet because of the above symptoms, and when I called Jack's back they only wanted to give me a refund on the price of the medication to treat the tapeworms. According to the contract they are required to refund ALL veterinary expenses for a previous diagnosis/condition that developed before purchase as long as it does not exceed puppy price. I shouldn't have to argue with them about why they need to pay for a fecal float to rule out parasites or why they need to pay for the vet bill.

Also, when I brought this up they said they dewormed the animal so it should not have tapeworms and that the tapeworms in his stool were just from the deworming. Standard puppy dewormer will not work against tapeworms according to our vet. Also, tapeworms come from ingesting fleas and our puppy had scabs from being flea bitten.

I've always adopted my dogs... wanted to try to take it easy on maintenance this time; for those of you that have adopted you know how much work it can be owning a previously abused/neglected animal; moral of the story: An animal shelter would have been better. Paid top-dollar price for a neglected animal at Jack's! Jack's is probably laughing all the way to the bank.

Pros: Friendly Staff

Cons: Very unexperienced staff and SICK animals

I love my kitty, don't get me wrong. But in the two months I've had him he's been to the vet three times. getting many shots, and medicines. He's had severe ear mites, tape worms, a chest cold... the list goes on. Like I said I love my cat but I've spent over two hundred in vet bills already! Buy else where.

Buying from Jacks is supporting unethical treatment of animals. They also try to sell mutts for high dollar. This is insane. You can go to a rescue organization and find a dog for a fair price as well as not support puppy mills.
