Food was good, but extra charges for everything (share a plate $5) and manager was very very rude. It's a German resteraunt if you want to relive the late 30's. Don't go, spend your money somewhere else.

Cons: Horrible manager and rude service

We went here for dinner with a party of 8 and it was fantastic. The food was outstanding, fresh and delicious. For appetizers we had stuffed mushrooms, saurekraut meatballs, and mussels. The mushrooms and meatballs were great, but the mussels were quite average (being it was after the weekend, Tuesday, I question the fresh quality of them). I

am not a big fan whatsoever of veal so for my entree I had Chicken Parmesan, and my brother had Chicken Marsala. BOTH were great, the quality and portion was outstanding. The mushrooms and marsala sauce were great, as we split our dishes and was able to try my brother's entree. The potato pancakes are unique and well made. I heard the veal was great too!

Two people in our group of 8 had the Linguini with Grilled Chicken Breast and both were unsatisfied with the chicken.... it did look like it was one of those precooked grilled chicken breasts and I would have been disappointed if I had gotten that dish.

Although I wanted to get chardonnay, the wine list was something to be desired.... nothing on it. So I had to unfortunately settle for a sweeter wine that my sister wanted.... A sweet German wine by a name I can't remember, but it wasn't the reisling varietal. It was $18.00 but probably should have been priced closer to $15.00. It was refreshing and lightly citrusy and fruity with a pleasant bouquet..... However, they could really use someone to help them with their wine list!!!!

They need a red zin to pair with their spicy veal dishes and their spicy pasta dishes, and a few American pinot noirs for their chicken marsala, and parmesan.

All in all I give it an 8.5 out of 10.

We have been here several times and keep coming back for a reason. Good food and excellent service. We also ate at their restaurant before they moved to Newbury. A great addition for Newbury.

After reading the previous review I was surprised greatly when my husband and I went to Sutters. The restaraunt is family owned and offers multiple varieties of schnitzel and some chicken. We had mussels as an appetizer (not on the menu) and we were extremely happy with our meals and our experience. We mentioned to our wattress about the poor review and she new exactly the customer we were speaking of and had a very different view on the events of that party. We highly recommend ignoring the other review and giving this restaraunt a try.

I visited Sutters 01/29/2005. Twelve of us dined here for my grandma's 80th birthday. We were shocked at the way we were treated. We has been there many times previously. When my husband recieved his meal, he stated that it just did not taste right. The manager approached us and offered a to go bag, because my husband hardly touched the meal he kindly asked for the one entree to be removed from the bill. We were told this was not happen. The owner of the restaurant came up to our table and told us never to come back, as we left out the door the same woman who owns the family establishment opened the kichen door and screamed an obsenity at us.
