This bakery is awesome! Their Hough cake is absolutely delicious! We just had a casada a few weeks ago and that was delicious, too! The icing was the best I've ever had. Ordering another cake for tomorrow. Can't wait to have some! We've had Margie cater our company parties and everything always looks great and tastes great! Don't hestitate to go there!
I don't know what bakery those who wrote the negative reviews went to, but have never had a negative experience at Casa Dolce. This bakery has become a staple for me and my family. The food is fantastic and the bakery is to die for (the canolis and the tiramisu are my personal favorites). Casa dolce catered a friend's wedding and everyone there raved about the food and the traditional wedding cake was gorgeous and one of the best I've ever tasted. As if all this wasn't enough, the service is fantastic making this one of my favorite places to eat in Cleveland.
This bakery/eatery was truly awful. With a larger than average Italian American population in the area, I was expecting something a little more authentic. The soup was salty, and the microwaved food was just atrocious. Perhaps it would be better if the food was fresh from the lunch crowd (we were there around 5:00). The baked goods were pretty but the taste was lacking. My husband has never NOT finished a cannoli. He said this was the worst one he's ever had. This joke of an Italian bakery/eatery is just unpalatable. Don't waste your money!
I have been dreaming of the old Hough Cake for a long time now and I finally found a place who knows how to make it right. I went to Casa Dolce with a friend for lunch (which was incredible 4 star food in a comfortable non stuffy atmosphere) One of the sales girls suggested a slice of Hough Cake for dessert. One bite brought me back 30 years. It was heaven in my mouth. I though Archies was the only place that made it but it doesn't compare.
A lot of people still think of Casa Dolce as a bakery but it really has become a food place. The food there is amazing. Since discovering them I go there all the time either for lunch or to get prepared food for dinner (especially parties where I aim to impress). Margie is an amazing chef and I am overwhelmed by the choice. The soups in particular are always amazing as is my favorite dish which is some combination of pasta, Italian sausage and broccoli rabe. If I have that for lunch I'm thinking about how nice my meal was the rest of the day.
If you eat there make sure you don't get a seat which faces the pastry counter because if you are staring at tiramisu or chocolate chip raspberry cheesecake the entire time you will not be able to resist getting a dessert. Also the carrot cake, amazing.
Ok, now I'm hungry again.
We bought what was supposed to be a "Hough" cake. It was awful. We took it back and the manager said that the icing was not Hough but the cake was. There was no way. I worked at Hough's for years and the cake they tried to pass off as Hough's was worse than a box mix.
If you truly want a "Hough" cake, go to Archie's Lakeshore Bakery. It is absolutely delectable and brings back memories. Don't waste your money at Casa Dolce, go to Archie's.
I had the best experience. Great service and great food and desserts. I just got married and ordered a tiered cake and pastry's to serve 350 people. The cake was just perfect. 4 tiers and the detail to match my dress was amazing and on top of it being beautiful it was the best tasting cake I ever had! Everyone treated so well it was the best wedding expierence I had with any vendor. The pastry's were to die for. Now my husband and I go there every week for the very fresh food, salads and pannini's. (Try the mushroom soup, any seafood, and truffles)

This is one of the best bakeries in the city of Cleveland. When they say they have Hough cake, they truly do - it's delicious!! Also, when a friend of mine bought a white cake, but it turned out to be chocolate, Margie gave her a plate of cookies AND a gift certificate!
My husband and I go for lunch every Saturday because the pannini sandwiches and other food items are out of this world. I also recommend the Feminino coffee - excellent! And my friends at the office are absolutely hooked on the apple fritters. If you're looking for a great place to have lunch on Mayfield Road that won't cost you an arm and a leg, this is the place. And the desserts - phenomenal!

I ordered a three-tiered cake for my son's communion and the top two cakes slid off the bottom cake and collapsed and ruined the bottom cake. I paid $150 for a cake my guests never got to see and was cut immediately after eating to be served for dessert. Margie, the owner, offered nothing in return and my son had no cake on display for two hours at his First Holy Communion Party! How terrible is that. What bad business practices and she just lost my business as well as my family and friends.
Very Disappointed Customer
