>>>I live and teach in Canton, so usually I go to the Holcomb's in Canton. They were horrible so I went to the one on Howe....same thing....so heres the same review!<<<<

LACK OF STOCK
There are holes on every shelf where product should be. They say that more product is coming in all the time but I've checked weekly and there is nothing. If they do have something, it's ones or twos of certain product. So it's hit or miss finding something.

NO SELECTION
They only carry a few brands. They don't do business with some major companies and don't even have in new products.

HIGH PRICES
I took a 2009 Carson Dellosa and Trend catalog in to find a 3 specific BBS and matching accents. They only had 1 left of a Trend BBS. The price was $3 more than in the catalog on the BBS and $2.50 more for the cutouts. When I asked the worker, she said it was for shipping costs....but don't they get a discount on freight?

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
The workers are unhelpful and frankly seem to know nothing about their products. They don't know anything about when shipments will come in with new products but will lie to you. One girl was on her cell phone THE WHOLE TIME I was there. haha, way to be professional.

BAD LOCATION
It's hard to find things and poorly lit. Products are in no order and spread randomly throughout the store. The books aren't even in grade order and its just overwhelming.

CHAIN STORE FALLOUT
I always tend to feel like my opinion doesn't matter there. That I'm merely money in their pocket. That's what you'll get at a chain store.

TREAT TEACHERS BADLY AND YOU'LL SEE WHAT YOU GET.
haha. I hope they know that we all talk!

I would have agreed with the previous commentaries in 2005 too, but now their store is severely lacking. This is the same for the Holcomb's store in Canton.

Some good products but the workers are unhelpful and the store is unorganized. Products are very hard to find and not in good order or clearly priced.

When asked for a specific bulletin board set and matching border from Trend, they said it would be in in a few days. I called weeks later, it was still not in. They still don't have in all of their fall products. Their shelves are EMPTY but they're "getting new products in every day" and that answer is the same at all of their stores. I brought in my own Trend, Carson Dellosa, and Teacher Created Materials catalogs to try to find their new products from the 2009 back-to-school line. NONE. They said had them months ago and sold out a few times but they should be fully stocked by August 1st. (Interesting...that's the same answer I get at the Canton store too) I guess we'll see...

Their prices are at least $2 more than their competitors and their publishers. But much higher on more popular items. Try asking for an actual publisher's catalog in their store. You won't get it because their prices are clearly higher than the suggested retail prices.

Maybe these are the reasons why so many Holcomb's stores have been going out of business in Ohio. I suggest you find a different store in the area, there are a couple nicer ones in lower akron and another in canton. Ask most of Holcomb's customers that have shopped elsewhere and I'll bet they they're not Holcomb's customers anymore.

If you are looking for any kind of eductaional materials, this would be the place to go. Everything from bulletin board letters and posters to workbooks to art supplies can be found here. This store is a wonderful resource for school teachers and home school teachers as well as for parents. The prices are reasonable for the most part, but expect to pay more for some hard-to-find items. The excellent variety of supplies available makes this store a must-see for anyone involved in education. And, if you are a parent of a child who needs some extra help in a certain subject, go here to find some helpful materials and new ideas to help your child learn.

PROS: Wide variety, many supplies would be difficult to find elsewhere
CONS: Some materials can be a little more costly than others
