Typically the quality of the work performed falls in the above average to excellent range with this alterations business. Over the years I have found two errors and they were immediately repaired in a courteous manner. Paul demonstrates a very customer service friendly attitude.

Recently they moved next door and have a larger space which appears far more comfortable for customers and staff. Paul also hired two clerks who do not alter clothing; this frees up the tailors to work on clothing.

With the acquisition of a new space and new employees, growing pains occur. Only two machines run in the back, and most times it's the assistant tailors working them, not Paul the master tailor.

The increase of the customer base has made what was once a quick turn around time much longer. My last alterations were scheduled two weeks in the future and upon calling they weren't quite ready.

Prices substantially increased as well. Fees for having slacks cuffed and set to length currently run $15. Repairing a jacket when they must open the middle seam runs a minimum of $90. Shortening the sleeves on a jacket runs $34 if done the "right way." Sewing in suspender buttons is now $18 a pair of slacks.

Because of the long turn around time, I found another alterations shop. The prices there run about 45% to 55% and the turn around time is one week. $8 for cuffing slacks, $20 for shortening jacket sleeves the "right way," $10 for sewing in suspender buttons, etc. They don't like opening suit jackets at the other alteration shop.

I will keep Paul in mind when serious tailoring needs to be done but not pay the high prices for simple alterations that have a long wait associated with them. I wish him the best of luck.

Some of the reviews surround this business on the Internet seem written by one who authored multiple reviews. They occur minutes apart on the same day and have a similar pattern. Obviously someone is a huge fan of Paul's work.

I'm a short, busty fashion bug who's, frustrated over alterations. All the shops in HydePark, Mt Lookout, and Loveland dont care about my unique needs, but I found one in Glendale that does! While buying shoes at Ronkers I saw alterations across the street so I tried them. The difference is night vs day! They're so friendly I felt like I'm their only customer! Travis took my information (hot dude! wonder if he's single) Lena shows me the dressing room so I put on my dress then a peppy, chipper guy studies me in it. I am very impressed because instead of saying I'm hard to fit,he says "You have a great shape, and great taste in fashion. With darts this dress will compliment your shape." This is the only shop I've ever been to that has low prices and compliments instead of making me feel like I'm a problem. ALTERATION WHILE U WAIT is a gem! Lena, her peppy measuring guy and Travis are a godsend!! After searching all over Cincinnati I'll NEVER go anywhere else but ALTERATIONS WHILE U WAIT

I had a military function to attend out of state on Sept. 11. I received my army service uniform the morning I was leaving Northern Kentucky for the function. Paul performed all the necessary alterations and sewed to military specifications all my bells and whistles while I waited. On Post it would have taken a week.

Paul told me he could do the work in time for me to leave that day--and performed master quality work. Paul takes pride in what he does and I will absolutely trust him to do any tailoring I need to do in the future.

Let me preface this by saying that I never write reviews on these websites (in fact, this is my first). But my experience with Paul was so phenomenal and rare that I just have to share it!! I had a problem with my wedding dress, in which I had lost weight and it was practically falling down (I had not tried it on in a while). It was Monday, and my wedding was coming up on Saturday, so naturally I was panicking! I had little hope that I would find anyone who could/would be able to fix my dress that quickly. I found Paul while searching online and called him early Monday afternoon. His co-worker told me he was not in yet but gave me his cell phone number, so I contacted him (he does not mind if customers call him on his cell!) He IMMEDIATELY reassured me that no matter what, he would make this work and that he would fix my dress. He made me feel so much better and immediately calmed me down. I headed to his shop, and, knowing that I was in a bind and it was an urgent situation, he immediately went to work on my dress and did not stop for HOURS. Other customers came in and he attended to them as needed, but he kept working on my dress diligently while I waited. He tried everything he could, he made great suggestions for how to fix things, he tried fixing it a certain way and if I tried it on and it didn??t look right, he went right back to work trying something else, and the cycle continued. He assured me it would be perfect or I would not be paying for it. He explained to me everything that he was doing. He was incredibly polite, funny, optimistic, personable, conversational, complimentary, reassuring, and clearly very competent at what he does. He was the same way to all of the other customers who came in (he treated everyone very well), and they all clearly liked him. I had to leave for an appointment near closing time, but Paul was willing to stay well past closing to finish the dress and even suggested I come BACK later and that he would ??work on it until midnight? if he had to. I instead came back the next day, he had it done, I tried it on, there was one little thing that needed fixed, he fixed it, and it WAS just perfect, like he promised. He told me if it wasn??t just right (which it WAS), I didn??t have to pay him. Throughout the process, he made slight alterations to other parts of the dress that I didn??t initially notice didn??t look too hot (eg, it looked like I had no bust whatsoever), and once he did it, looked SO much better! It??s not that he was trying to jack up the cost; he just really seemed cared about me as a customer and wanted my dress to look its best. One woman came in and tried on a skirt he had just altered; it had a TINY flaw in it, and he refused to allow her to pay for it, because it wasn??t perfect/exactly the way he meant to do it (even though she thought it looked great!) He does NOT stop until it is just the way you want it. He also did everything he could to keep my cost down. He tried the cheapest things first and only went on to more expensive, complicated methods when he had to and absolutely nothing else worked. He ended up giving me a fair price (knocked off several dollars) for the hours of work he spent on it. Paul even did things like clean off the makeup I accidentally got on the dress while there, iron out the wrinkles, and concoct a carrying bag for my dress that allowed it to spread out more and reduce wrinkles. I have NEVER experienced such exceptional service and would go back to Paul for any alteration needs in a heartbeat and would recommend ANYONE to him (needing anything from urgent help to a pair of pants hemmed). He truly delivered his promise and saved the day??and in such a timely fashion!! My dress was perfect by Tuesday (the day after I contacted him). I know I would not have gotten such prompt, friendly service anywhere else. Paul really cares about his customers! I am extremely satisfied and so appreciative that he did this for me. I cannot say enough good things!!

Paul, the owner of Alterations While U Wait, says that he "REFUSES to have an unhappy customer" Well, he's certainly proven it to me!! He's the only person I allow to work on my stuff.

Paul, you've treated me right whenever I needed you; but the other night you went the extra mile. You stayed after hours since I had an emergency. Thank you, QFA Tailors (Alterations While U Wait), To me you've gone from good to GREAT!

When the hem fell out of my skirt, Alterations While U Wait repaired it for FREE! ?? While I WAITED!!!
I was making a sales presentation when something began to tickle my leg. When I looked behind me, it was my skirt hem; it had fallen out in the back! It was somewhat embarrassing, but really annoying. I took it to a place near the presentation site and they wanted me to leave it with them for two weeks. I wasn??t scheduled to be back in that area until next year, so I declined. When I got home, I found Alterations While U Wait in Cincinnati. I was incredulous when the owner told me over the phone that my skirt hem could be repaired quickly, and after arriving there, I was amazed when the repair was done for FREE!!! Most things I buy fit without any alterations, but if I ever do need it, I know where to take it! Thanks, Alterations While U Wait. (p.s. Your name is too long. Can??t you shorten it to ??AWW? or something?)

Response from this business:

Thanks Tille W. "Thanks, Tilley, for your nice comment!!! At Alterations While U Wait we will always repair a blind stitched hem for anyone, at no charge! It's our policy, because those hems are sewn with a self-raveling chain stitch are just that; self raveling; they ravel! You'd think that with all of today's technology, there would be a way to prevent that, wouldn't you?! In the mean while I'll just fix-um! Since it is a fault of the industry, I feel that every tailor, seamstress, and alterations shop ought to do that, but as far as I know, Alterations While U Wait is the only place that does!! (p.s: Sorry our name is sooooo long, but it says what we do ! By the way, we are aka: QFA Tailors, and you can call us simply "QFA" - Paul - November 03, 2008

I was in many clothing alterations shops in and around Cincinnati area, but only this one is outstanding to me! ?Alterations While U Wait ?Paul Cariaga Master Tailor? has taken care of my suits many times now, for nearly 2 years. I am 6?5? tall and skinny, but have very wide shoulders. I wear 46 Extra Long suit. I wear suits every day in my profession, because I speak to corporate executives and directors at seminars about appearance, presentation and decorum. Paul and his staff are truly expert master tailors to accommodate my tilted hip and my slightly low shoulder. Their work is guaranteed to be perfect, and so far, it has always been! Thanks, Paul, for being there when I need you.

BETTER THAN AWSOME!! ! ! !
These guys at ?Alterations While U Wait? have won me over! I am hard to fit because of advanced scoliosis. Being an attorney, I wear a suit every day. I HATE to shop, and it doesn't help that alterations are wide-ranged, expensive and difficult! Paul, the owner of ALTERATIONS WHILE U WAIT has changed all that. For the first time ever, I get my suits back in two or three DAYS (not weeks). All my suits need a lot of work, so naturally the price adds up, but it?s often lower than I expected. More importantly, the work is done right! And when my difficult body frame presents its challenges, they just work with it until it?s corrected. Paul says it?s guaranteed to be perfect, and after more than two dozen suits in 18 months, I think he means it! (P.S: They are hard to find on this web directory because Citysearch dot com has their name wrong.)

Trevor, an associate tailor at ALTERATIONS WHILE U WAIT (QFA). told me I should just HANG AROUND AND WAIT for my suit to be hemmed. All other ALTERATIONS SHOPS required two weeks. I told Trevor I would go shopping and suggested they call me when they finish. PAUL CARIAGA, the owner, said that they would probably be calling before I reach the mall, but that I was the boss. At that, I left. I stopped at the traffic light a mile away from their shop, and already they were calling my cell phone!! MY HEMS WERE DONE, and I had only reached the first corner! I was totally blown away! QFA.Tailors has a permanent client in me! I am also telling all my friends and work associates about them. if you need anything repaired or altered on any clothing, Q.F.A. Tailors is the place to call.
