I've been coming here for a very long time also and I've never had a bad experience. I am thankful they keep their prices low enough to allow me to continue to care for my dog .. It's too bad human clinics do not follow the same practice. It's surprising people are more accepting when medical mistakes happen in a human clinic but go out of their way to bash veterinarians when they aren't able to work miracles.

I've been coming here for about 3 years and couldn't be happier with the quality of service and prices. Being a walk-in veterinary clinic, a short wait is expected, but the convenience far outweighs the wait with my not-so-convenient work schedule.

I brought my cat in because she had a cold and was eating very little, I was given Clavamox drops and an apatite stimulant, it was believed she wasn't eating simply because she couldn't smell what she was eating. If things didn't get better I was told to bring her back after the medication was fully administered. Her cold went away but she still wasn't eating, even though she wanted to eat badly, it seemed she couldn't swallow her food, I suggested an x-ray but was told they'd like to run blood test's first before going that route. She stayed 5 days under their care starting on Tuesday, Wednesday afternoon I got a call telling me that she did not have liver disease and they found that her red blood cells were being attacked by her body and that they'd like to do another blood test and they would be administering prednisone to get rid of the bad blood cells and produce more good ones. They were supposed to call Thursday but I couldn't get hold of anyone so I went there after work, She seemed very tired but still happy to see me. I talked to an assistant and they said that the blood test had not come back and they would call the next day when it did, Friday they did not call me and when I called I couldn't talk to a vet because they were all in surgery, after trying again Saturday I decided to send my Wife to check on her, only then was she able to speak to the vet. The vet told her she had not eaten in 4 days and she was vomiting. when my wife asked why they hadn't force fed her he said they can't do that and if we wanted to do that we could take her home, but we weren't allowed until she at least drank some water. I decided Sunday to get her out of there. They gave me medication and an attitude and I left. A few days later she died due to liver failure from starvation. We had an autopsy done and found she had Gall stones. A simple x-ray would have found the problem and she could have easily been saved.

I am so infuriated with Noahs Ark Animal Hospital. We got an estimate for Loki the day we dropped him off there with the urinary blockage, of 359.00 to 440.00. We go to pick him up today and only took enough money to cover the estimate and they wanted 533.00. Nearly one hundred dollars more. In fact they wouldn' t release him with out full payment. On top of it all if we couldn't come up with the money, they were gonna continue to keep him and charge us more.

What is the since in signing an estimate if it means nothing? We only agreed to pay up to 440.00. No one even bothered to tell us it was gonna cost more and we've been in contact with them all week, checking up on Loki. This is crap and they are not done hearing from me about this kind of misrepresentation and deceit.

We received no written after care instructions follow our animals urinary blockage. He also had an eye infection and we really don't no how often to put in the drops
no itemized reason for the increase in cost
not told of the 25% increase from the initial estimate
Vague terms of the contract

quote from their site," At the end of the day we want to provide our clients with the best in veterinary care, reasonable health care options and at a fee you can afford."
Goes on to talk about trust.

Disputes between pet owners and veterinarians are likely to arise for the same reason most other disputes arise: a failure of communication. Owners misunderstand diagnoses, instructions, and fees, and busy vets are often guilty of not explaining things as well as they should.

I am quite satisfied with the service at Colerain Animal Clinic (now Noah's Ark Animal Clinic). I took my dog there after going to 2 other places and not getting an answer as to why he wasn't acting himself. Dr.Doty was very thorough and had a good bedside manner. We got our diagnosis, finally, and he is doing great on treatment. Highly recommended!

I have been taking my animals, 5 of them, to the clinic in ft.wright for 6 years and they have been great. It is a walk in clinic so sometimes the wait is long but the care has been good and less expensive than most. I recently moved to Ohio and decided not to make the drive to Ft. Wright which was a huge mistake. I took them to colerain and the experience was awful. The people were nasty and apathetic. They gave me ineffective meds for my dogs and acted as if I was ignorant because the medicine was ineffective. The person I spoke with when I called to ask what the problem was did not even have record of me being there the previous week. She then told me i had to come back in 3 months to get more medicine in order for the problem to be taken care of. Strange given that it seemed to be a case of wrong dosage because it was effective on my small dong but not the large one (which they said were to take the same dosage this did not seem correct to me but i am not a vet). This place is unprofessional and pathetic. I will NEVER take my animals there again. However I will take them back to the one in Ft. Wright. I have experienced very good care at that location, but the one in colerain is terrible and I do not recommend you take your pets there.

Have been a customer for many years - BUT after 2nd problem in less than a year... I am moving our pets to another vet. They have been selling us heart worm medication since early spring yet when I requested a prescription for the medication I was told that neither pet had been tested since 2005 - even through their records show that we brought them in for the test AND they sold us the medication twice since then.

Terrible. I have had much better care given to my animals. I was forced to wait a long time and the reception area was smelly. The receptionists were unfriendly and cold. The technician was nice but spoke to me like I didn't know what I was speaking about and even lied to me about my pet's condition after supposedly "reading" his paperwork. I used to work as a vet assistant and my dog is well taken care of with a large doctor's file from other doctors. The only reason I came to this place was because my mom told me to after I moved. They insisted he had a disease like a thyroid condition or cushings because he is partly hairless (he is a chihuahua and mexican hairless mix) and would NOT listen to me that he's been tested for all of that extensively within the past year and is simply that kind of partially hairless breed. When he wouldn't take no for an answer and began insisting that I must test him I told them to read his history. He also insisted that I do an EKG when one was done 6 months prior because he had a "major heart murmur" even though it was diagnosed as extremely minor a few months prior. (The next vet I took him too confirmed it was so minor it wasn't worth worrying about.) When they still insisted on doing all this stuff and THEN mixed up his vaccines and brought in the wrong one to give him, that was it. I only knew it was wrong based on the color because I know the difference between DHLPP and Rabies vaccines. After that, I was done. I told them I was leaving my appointment and resented the doctor. I don't remember his name but I do know he was Asian and barely spoke English. (Not a factor, I am Taiwanese.) I took my doc to Liberty Vet Hospital to see Dr. Amy Johnstone from there after. If you want excellent care at a decent price, go to them! It's worth the drive up to Liberty! Colerain will kill your pet just like they killed my friend's cat after surgery and almost killed my mom's dog by mixing up his vaccines as well. I am disturbed that previous posters are saying people writing bad reviews are uneducated. I assume these people are employees or owner's of the company. You cannot say someone is uneducated when they know the vet business and they are simply ignored by the employees and treated awfully. This place is a business, not a caregiver, and it's a bad business with people that are NO GOOD. I have heard so many horror stories and know two people who used to work there and were both disgusted with their practices, including inflating prices after entering them in the computer, and so they moved on to positions are the Care Center and EVC. I should have listened to everyone in the first place and not just gone for the cheapest price. You get what you pay for. I'd rather pay an extra 10 or 20 and have my pet safe and secure as well as be treated well!

Ok. I am annoyed at all the bad publicity this clinic gets. I gave been taking my animals here for years and never have I had an issue with the way they practice medicine. Sure sometimes you have to wait. But it's a walk in only clinic which they provide as a conveinence. This also allows them to see many more clients than does most practices. I once asked how many clients they had seen in a day, and on that day alone they had already seen 93 patients for doctors alone. That doesn't include for tech exams. A lot of practices see 10. So with that said, you will realize they are going to see way more critical patients so in turn they will have a higher death toll. But if you compare their death rate to there number of clients it is extremely low. Now moving on to their pricing. Never, and I repeat, never, will you find another practice who can provide the services that they offer at the prices they set! I challenge you to do so. So this strikes up two more points. "A" being that people who who normally wouldn't be able to properly care for a pet now can with this clinic. And I solute them for that! They are there for the animals, not your wallet! And as if there prices weren't low enough, they will do what they can with what you can afford. Point "B" is one that may offend some but is the truth. With these lower prices comes a different crowd. You are going to have far more people coming in with sick animals but only have $50 than you will people coming in with unlimited funds to do whatever it takes to get their pet healthy. I see it every time I'm there. Some brings in a dog that has been vomiting and not eating for 2 weeks and hardly able to stand. They get there, see the doctor, and when the doctor says "we need to do this and that to get this animal stable" they proceed to tell the doctor " oh, well we only have $30.". In the perfect world the doctor could just do everything for free. We all know that's not possible. The clinic has to pay for their equipment, their medications and injections, and every employee needs to be paid. But!! This is where most clinics say "I'm sorry. We can't do anything for $30". Colerain animal clinic and their branch locations say "ok well this animal needs a lot more care than $30 can cover. Apply for our credit card, ask friends or family if you can borrow money. Until then here is what we CAN do with your $30." In my experiences and in what I have seen, this normally consists of them offering their services free of charge and just charging for medications or other supplies that need to be used. So again, since these clients only had $30 and didn't get the proper medical care that they were recommended, these pets suffer. These clients then take there pet home with extremely minimal care and then wonder why their pet didn't pull through. So they complain to everyone that "Colerain animal clinic killed my pet" when in fact they did it
themselves. The doctors and their staff did everything they could with what the client could afford. So perhaps, if you can't afford proper pet health care , maybe you shouldn't be allowed to have a pet!

I hope this clinic stays strong and am extremely happy to hear about the opening of their third clinic! Congratulations staff and
keep up the great work. You are doing a wonderful thing and I am glad you keep going strong despite the bad publicity you receive due to uneducated people. We love you!!

DO NOT GOI!!!! Without going into detail mt sister's dog died after a botched surgery and she won her clain against them in small claims court. Before you go there and if you currently go there PLEASE check them out with the Ohio board of Vetrinarians and ask to see all complaints against them and you will be amazed. Ask to see state inspection reports and you will be amazed at how they are still allowed to practice with all of the violations. I love the way the owner's last name is Lies becasue that is what he does!!!!!

We have been taking our pets to Colerain for over 20 years. Granted, the place might look a little shabby, sometimes you have to wait a painfully long time, but I cannot complain about the care my dogs have received over the years. The fees are very reasonable and over the years, there was only one vet I'd prefer not to see. All businesses have pros and cons but the pros of this practice, in my opinion, outweigh the cons.

Someone used the term "assembly line" earlier in reference to this clinic....I agree. I've lived in the area most of my life and have heard many reasons not to go here for vet care. Not to mention the slovenly appearance and smell of the place.

I've periodically broken down and taken one of my animals (for instance, when I was laid off) and usually have been sorry afterwards. In most cases, I could have taken my animal to another, better vet and saved money (or in one case, the animal). Colerain might charge a lesser price for a visit, but they make it up elsewhere by charging more for some meds and by not always getting it right the first (or subsequent) visit.

I do recommend Dr Ashley, who is an excellent vet working there, but the last time I requested him I had to wait an hour and a half to see him. Even then, he was so rushed he failed to check my cat and just peeked in the door to tell me the stray I'd brought in was FIV/Feline Leuk negative. It might be best to schedule with him during a less busy time (day hours), if you really need to take your animal there (operative words being "really need to").

I have been taking my dog (Sandy) there since I adopted her in '99, and have had nothing but good experiences (on their end) on Sandy's end not so much but we wouldn't be at the vet if everything was on the up and up. Yes they are a little crowded sometimes but i have never waited for more than an hour, and yes sometimes the docs and vet tech can speak matter-of-factly but that's just giving you the information straight. Any and all questions i have ever asked whether it be about this bump, this medication etc have been answered (as is up to owner to ask). My Sandy had to get an ear ablation, the doc informed me of the basics of it but me being the freak about sandy that i am, asked 2 million and 1 questions that were all answered and he could even understand what i was asking through the tearing and sobbing. Later she has developed a cough and i was informed that she had a slightly enlarged heart, again through the tears and crying (my boyfriend who went with me even welled up) the doc reassured me that we had brought her in - in plenty of time and yes it was a big deal but with the early medication she would be just fine. Even the next day when i called 2x (while the doc was in surgery) and on the 3rd call he was out and i had asked the gentlemen answering the phones if he could just give me an idea of how enlarged, the young man went back asked the doc and then returned with the information i had inquired about. So all in all i am there an above average amount (due to my dog being older now) and i call alot and i have never seen anything questionable or downright bad from these people. Always treat my sandy well and in a caring manner. I will continue to go to the Colerain Animal Clinic, as they are very wonderful people who do care, who have always treated me like i am sane, even when it's clear the amount of freaking out i do i am not sane (when it comes to my doggie).
Shortly if you don't want to wait - go to vet office with hours.
Medication - as with human medications- it's your job to ask, don't wait till the last minute to get a refill, ask about refill procedures (i can get mine refilled by just walking in- i know this cause i asked)
Surgeries - if there is an extra bump (that's not benign or malig.)somewhere they will remove it while they have a dog under that's pretty standard from what i have heard.

I took my cat here for years, but lately they are overcrowded. They have become consumed by the almighty dollar and acre little for pets now. They do provide some services not available at other vets, but the care level is so poor now.My cat was in for dental work and she is normally very friendly and easy going, but after a few hours there she was agitated and very angry at their techs. She has a degenerative bone problem in her hips, and was given Metacam. This seemed to help her, but she soon lost her appetite and was barely eating at all. They said nothing. I later researched the drug on the net, only to find that along with nausea, vomiting and a loss of appetite, RENAL FAILURE is also a possibility! They vet said nothing about ANY possible side effects. Now I have to take her to a NEW VET to be tested for possible liver and kidney damage. While I believe this possibility to be remote, I should have been informed of any possible side effects so I could be watching for symptoms.I will never take any animal back to these people, they simply do not care.

My name is Shelbie Taylor & today I arrived at this clinic at 3:00 to get my 2 year old min pin checked out. She had some type of boil on her lip that had been there for about a week. I sat in the waiting room for about 2 and a 1/2 hours. While I waited, there was a family of 3 girls and a mom and dad waiting along with us. They had a Boston terior who was clearly in pain & needed to be seen. We sat there for about 45 minutes and watched this family, in tears, as they held their dog while he whined and cried and shook. All of the staff at the front desk just glanced over and showed no concern. No one acknowledged what was going on. There was a man in green scrubs working who was way too concerned about his clip board and pens to even check on the family. I was in tears along with my mother and the whole waiting room. After a good 45 minutes a snotty vet tech came out to the family & said "what is going on here?" This dog was in pain along with the family. I seen no concern & no compassion. How can so many workers walk by and sit there and watch this happen? This poor family, my heart goes out to them.
We continued to wait. When people were getting called in who arrived after us my mother went to the counter and asked where we were in line, the receptionist said we were next. We waited about 45 minutes and we were finally checked in around 5:30. The man weighing my dog had an attitude. It took 5 minutes for this doctor to tell me nothing. I felt as if this was a waist of my time and money. I have never seen such lack of: professionalism, compassion, concern. I though a vet was suppose to be the gateway between human and animal communication? I am a common woman with no veterinary education and I could have told you that the Boston terrior was in need of much needed attention right away. I am disgusted and I will never, ever return to this clinic. I hope it was a one time incident and not common practice. My dog is like my baby and she means the world to me. I believe all animals should be treated with more compassion, unlike what i witnessed today.

The Colerain Animal Hospital is a fantastic facility They have taken care of all 8 of my dogs going back some 20 years. My personal vet is Orrin Ashley, he is advanced trained Vet. He operated on my Boxer 5 years ago for Cancer and to this day he is cancer free. His advanced training in Laser Surgery, I believe is the reason he is alive today. He continues to be my Families Vet of choice. The other Vets are very good as well. Dr. Lies is also a very good vet. I have nothing but good things to say about the Colerain Animal Hospital.

I would not recommend this place to anyone now , when i first started to go there i was extremely happy. I was there a few months ago and had my dogs anal glands done and they took my male to the back, he had always been really easy to get along with at the vet and after this visit it has been a challenge to get him to even get him to stand on the exam table where before he would jump up there and sit, I feel that he was treated poorly back there I would not let my dog out of my sight here unless you want the same result , The techs act like he is some beast now and he is far from this when i know he is the nicest dog you could find around anyone. The staff here is a mix of nice and jerks all the receptionist at great never a problem techs are not so good and especially the ones i had . My husband and i were there with my male the other day because it was shot time for him and the techs were trying to tell me he had them already when i knew he did not they did not want to do his shots because i would not muzzle him he has never needed this before he was taken to the back that time so i would not do it with the muzzle my husband held him and one of the techs finally did his shots . I am going to a different vet i Will not have my dog treated like a jerk just because of someone being afraid of dogs that are not pocket pets and wanted to warn you to keep a eye one your dog cat gerbil whatever here with the techs

I've been taking my dog there for 3 years now. In my dogs first year she contracted the DEADLY Parvo Virus. The staff was extremely helpful in advising me as to what was needed as well as considering my financial issues. I'm happy to say that my Brooklyn is yet alive and well, and lovin life. As for me THANK YOU Colerain Animal Clinic. They met my expectations, their rates are affordable, and I have and will continue to recommend Colerain to my friends.

If you need more than a routine shot or expect good customer service, CHOOSE ANOTHER PLACE TO TAKE YOUR PET! I brought my dog in June 11, 2008 for x-rays at the recommendation of the vet we'd seen a week earlier. After her x-rays, the Dr. said my dog had a tumor and possibly heart disease and prescribed her some medication with the assurance that it could be refilled with just a call to the office. As directed, I called the office for a refill and the receptionist told me the doctor was out until next week, no one could help me and all she could do was put a note in an inbox. She then said: "If the prescription can be refilled, someone will call you back and if not they won't." and that was all she could do for me. I asked for the manager and she said she was the manager. I asked to speak with her manager or anyone else that could help me and she refused to transfer my call. She was extremely rude and told me that it was office policy that a refill can be approved only by the doctor that wrote the prescription. After much discussion and my insistence the prescription was refilled. If this is how they treat their own pets, they should be taken away!

i dont understand why everyone is so harsh and negative about this place. it is a great clinic, very reasonable price and nice staff. they work very hard. i am a regular customer and would never go elsewhere. what you must understand is that this is a walk in clinic. if you walk into a line you may have to wait like everyone else. this is sometimes a little price you must pay if you have a suddenly sick pet or just want to take your pet to get checked out at any given time of day or night. the girls at the front desk are always friendly and helpfull. i once went there and had to wait about an hour to see the vet, it would have been irritating but the staff kept me updated the whole time. they explained that there was an emergency that came in and they had to help the patient but the dr would be in as soon as the patient was stable. i completely understood and knew that if it was my pet that needed immediate help i would get it there

The cost is cheap and if it is the only place you can afford, that is understandable. I fall into this category.

The place is a mess.

The staff is extremely rude. They give you no directions, they are snippy when asked questions, and they nearly refused to accept my voucher that I had received when I adopted my kitten. When you take your pet back to the cages, they give you no information as to whether or not more paper work needs to be done or when to come back to get the animals or when to call. The service is extremely slow.

The vets are very quick to move you into the office and move you out. One quick look-over and your pet is out. They're more than willing to offer you expensive medicines and procedures without any sort of explanation as to what they actually are.

We needed a new vet and went here having heard it was a decent, easy place [and close to home] .... I cannot begin to describe how bad our experience has been. From the wholly disinterested, slovenly front line staff whose phone and personal manners you'd expect at a Hardees drive in window, to the arrogant docs and the inconceivably non-existent communications, it was an utter nightmare.

Having scheduled our pup for neutering, we noticed a small growth on his back and were forced to leave repeated messages - all unreturned - regarding getting him in for a look prior to the procedure. Arriving that morning, we requested in writing that the vet [a partner] call us with a diagnosis and recommendations before putting our dog under for surgery. Five hours later we get a call saying he's out of surgery and they'd decided - without notifying us - to take the growth off. When asked to speak with the vet who'd made such a decision without speaking with the pet's owners, we were forced, against our objections, to leave repeated voicemails for the vet and his assistant, all unreturned for five days. We finally called their director at home and later spoke with a manager who simply admitted their operation has numerous problems and apologized for our experience. After nine days, we have yet to hear from the vet who cut our dog without our permission - and the wound left behind, due to a horrific suturing job, will require us to go elsewhere and have it re-cut and re-sewn to avoid a terrible scar.

No offer to help, no offer to refund our money, nothing but stonewalling and avoidance of professional responsibilities. In a human hospital , their actions would be illegal and result in having their license to practice revoked.

Avoid this place at all costs.

Rude staff, less than satisfactory health care, and condescending veterinarians is just the beginning of the nightmare that is Colerain Animal Clinic. I've been multiple times because of their economical rates, but don't be fooled because you get what you pay for. My last visit I was taking my cat in to get spayed, only because I had a voucher for the clinic. I waited for a terribly long time before they would even take my cat back. The front staff was shockingly rude about the wait, and when someone finally came to take my cat to the back they had me follow them to the cages. What I saw on my way back was a nightmare. There were healing/injured/sick cats EVERYWHERE. They were lying on little cots on the floor and multiple cats were laying on a few different tables. It didn't seem sanitary or comforting at all. Not to mention it seemed as if everyone was standing around talking or drinking coffee. No wonder I waited in the waiting area for a few hours. After they took my cat from me they didn't say a word, didn't show me the way out and didn't even tell me any specifics about whether I could expect a call from them or just to pick up my cat the next day. To find out I had to wait in line AGAIN for about 30 minutes just to speak to a snippy, rude, receptionist who really finalized the fact that I would never go back.

If you need any type of Veterinary service, don't waste your time and money at Colerain, visit Grady Animal Hospital, you will not be disappointed.

What I saw on my way back was a nightmare. .

I have been taking dogs and cats to Colerain since the 1970's when it was in a little house. Now a large clinic in two locations, they provided excellent and reasonably priced services to my pets. My only reservation is that there are only 4 doctors that I will let do surgery on my pets but that is a personal thing with me.

This place is open I think 364 times a year. I had to take my dogs there on Labor day the were very helpful. They had to do x-rays etc. The cost was reasonable and ample staff

PROS: Open 24 hours
CONS: none
