In Short
Boomerangs, Aussie flags, kangaroo portraits and faux aboriginal art honor the homeland's wilderness, but Outback delivers a polished version of rusticity with varnished blond-wood booths with matching wainscoting and casually uniformed waitstaff. Besides more than a half-dozen cuts of steak, diners can pick from large-portioned entrees like ribs, chops and shrimp or chicken "on the barbie." The Bloomin' Onion, a large onion dipped in batter and deep-fried, is an appetizer with a following.

The Inside Scoop

Great food, bad waitress.

by cadetkt

A friend and I went to the Outback a week ago. Neither of us had ever been to the Outback. The food was amazing. The portions were huge! The complimetary bread was delicious and theur potato soap was great. Our waitress, however, had a dry personality. When she brought me the wrong order I asked her to fix it and she basically called me a liar. She told me, "No, you said double shrimp. I wrote it down and everything". From then on she was twice as unfriendly and acted VERY impatient with us. From where we sat, all the waitresses could stand and stare while we ate and they placed orders. My friend watched our waitress roll her eyes and point us out to the others. It made us very uncomfortable. By the time she brought us our bill, we were afraid to ask her to separate it.

Pros: Great food, large portions!

Cons: Music is too loud and waitress should work at the pound, not with people!

YUCK!

by importgirl

Years ago I used to love outback. Over the past 5 years, however, it has went down hill drastically. My steaks are never cooked right and often very bland.

Just Plain Horrible

by Planeguy

These guys couldn't properly cook a good steak on a bet. I highly recommend having drinks and a "bloom'in onion" and then head on down the road to a real steakhouse for dinner. Better yet, don't even stop in there.
The steaks are always cooked way to rare for what is ordered. If you send the steak back, they do not give you new fries or potato so the same, now very cold stuff, comes back to the table.

Pros: full service bar, nice appetizers

Cons: steaks are never righ, usually very noisy, another chain restaur

Yum.

by frag_queen

I went to Outback Steakhouse with my date for prom. I was promptly seated, and we ordered two steak dinners right away. The steaks were made exactly the way we wanted them. I ordered mine well done, and it was still tender and juicy, just the way I like it. The service was great, and the employees were very friendly. I would recommend eating at Outback Steakhouse to anyone.

Pros: Great food, Good Parking, Great Employees

Cons: On the expensive side

Best Steak my eye!

by katievschenk

Over priced commercial chain restaurant with mediocre food and the normal High schooler for wait staff. The Outback Steakhouse does not belong on the list of "Best Steakhouses". If you crave a steak that is small, fatty, and lacking in overall taste, let alone presentation, go to the Outback. Go for the Draft beer and appitzers but NOT for a good steak! As a side note, raise your hand if you hate those darn radio commercials of theirs!

Pros: beer, appitizers, easy

Cons: food, service, selection

always great

by jenncaitlin

the steaks have seasonings on them that are wonderful...you don't have to drown them in sauces to make them taste good. the price is right and my daughter loves the kids menu. her two favorites are the maccaroni and cheese and the chicken fingers. great food for everyone. my husband was dissapointed that the sweet potato is considered a regional food and is not available in wisconsin.

Pros: great menu choices, great locations, kids love it too

Cons: sweet potato regional

Best for the Money

by ilovetogoout

You might be able to get a slightly better steak at Morton's, but you will pay a LOT more. Outback is best for the money. J Alex's might be a close contender (especially for atmosphere), but I haven't been there in a while. One caveat: If you don't like heavily peppered/spiced meat, then tell your server when you order! Outback has a tendency to put too much spice on the meat.

Pros: Quality for the Money, Fun

Cons: Spice on Meat, Not as classy
