Ratings_icons I loved it as a kid.

I used to go to Wyandot Lake as a child and LOVED it so much. Now, as an adult, I see it is a little run down, but it is still a fun palce to go as a fmail. They are primarily a water ride park, although they have a few amusement park rides. They were recently taken over by Six Flags so I am hoping they will get a much needed update!

Ratings_icons A day at the beach?

Wyandot Lake is a fun place to visit, but as previous reviewers said, it can be croweded, dirty, and could use some updating. A few years ago someone died on their ferris wheel. They don't have a lot of "rides" it is more water park slides. I don't like the tube rental policy. It is a fun way to spend the day, but be sure to use coupons.

I think this place is dirty and run down. It's usually packed and you have to rent an intertube. I hate going here, but my niece insists on going when she is here for the summer. The one time a year that I go with her is more than enough. It's expensive to eat and the food is not that good.

Ratings_icons We liked it

Julie B. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 11,218

Our family had a lot of fun. I think there are a lot of things that are in need of updating, but for a day out as a family we thought it was worth it. Our children loved the games and the water slides. My husband and I loved lazy river. I think it is a little more suited for people that have younger children as it is a lot smaller than some place like Kings Island. We felt as though it was a reasonable price for a season pass.

Ratings_icons Pretty boring

Jie G. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 5,389

I've only been there once, it was during the summer. It wasn't really fun at all. Its just a big pool with some slides, not excatly "fun". The other "rides" are not even really rides. They're just spin around and around and around........... The only thing i liked about it is the that water squirt game, where you pay $2 (but someone else have to pay $2 as well) and gareenteed to win. (I won a froggy, I like it very much!)

PROS: Some games are okay
CONS: Not really that much to do

I think they need to do some updating of the park. It used to be cleaner and fresher, It seems a bit run down. I would like to see the quality of the food change from just junk food to something more substantial.

Ratings_icons Needs Some TLC But Has Potential

Six Flags needs to invest money into this park - it has the potential to be a good family park if only corporate would give it the attention it deserves.

Parking was only $3.00. The parking lot is not in the greatest shape. Wyandot Lake and the Columbus Zoo share the same parking lot.

Wyandot Lake is not a park loaded with thrill rides. If I had to classify it, Id say its more family-oriented. Part of the reason is just the dearth of dry rides in the park at all. Theres one coaster here with one operator working it. It stopped with an old hand-brake. The biggest drop is a mere 35 feet. It definitely needed a good paint job.

Most of the water slides are in the same area as the wave pool, making it easy for families to set up camp here and let the older ones wander to the more thrilling slides.

The food is typical theme park fare: pizza, burgers, hot dogs. One notable exception is that many eating locations offer a selection of alcoholic beverages. Its also very expensive. My kids ate personal pizzas and said they were fine. The burgers were a bit overdone, in my opinion. We ordered a double order of the onion rings/fries combo. The onion rings were pretty good.

PROS: nice selection of water rides, fried Oreos, fudge puppies
CONS: just not enough to do and looks very run-down

Ratings_icons fun, but you can spend a lot of $

Jennifer N. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,557

Wyandot Lake is a lot of fun, but it is also pretty pricey. Unless you have a membership, which isn't too expensive, it will cost a lot to bring a family there. The rides aren't huge, but it is a fun place to go and the water attractions are really good. It is a little trashy and can get really crowded.

Ratings_icons Good for a hot summer day, but expensive

Melodie D. | insider Insider | Rank: 15,046

Wyandotte Lake is the only Central Ohio water park that I know of. It's an outdoor park, with a wave pool, lazy river, and tons of slides. For me, it's only an average park. By the middle to the end of the day, the lazy river is dirty with trash and debris. You have to pay extra, a lot extra for rafts, and for lockers. Only a limited number of rafts are available for free. Since you pay for the raft, you have to drag it everywhere, watching it so that no one walks off with your deposit. The employees at stands don't seem very enthusiastic about being there, and the food I had tasted really nasty. It's typical amusement food--nachos and such. (The stand I went to offered me nachos, charged me $6.50 for them, then discovered they were out of all the fixings like meat, etc. --I paid for cheese and chips.) The wave pool is excellent, lots of fun there. I didn't try any slides, so they may well be a lot of fun, too. The park also has some little rides set up, but you cannot ride them in a swimsuit. The kiddie pirate ship area was a blast for younger guests. Plan on spending a lot of extra cash there, in addition to your ticket.

PROS: Great for kids on a hot summer day
CONS: May be more expensive than it is worth.

Ratings_icons Summer fun without leaving Greater Columbus

Julie L. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 5,411

Wyandot Lake is located beside the Columbus Zoo (they share parking space). Although it's primarily a water park , you will get most of the amusement park "feel" since they also have non-water rides (e.g. roller coaster, ferris wheel, carousel and children's rides), amusement snacks like cotton candy, ice cream and more.

There are a variety of water areas for splashing, swimming, squirting, and sliding. For parents' convenience, there are areas that are exciting for both smaller and older children. Sunbathing areas with lots of deck chairs available on a first-come, first-serve. Kids of all ages enjoy the wave pool and there are a number of water slides for the more daring family members. It's a great place to keep your kids from getting "bored" this summer!

PROS: Convenient location, not too expensive, lots of activities
CONS: You have to lug all of your diaper bags and duffels around the park
