I was referred by a friend/ co-worker, and I LOVE Healthy Pets of Rome Hilliard. They have always been so friendly and caring for my two cats. Even when my male cat was throwing the BIGGEST tantrum about his shots, they still were very, very gentle with him. The Vets have always been very professional and fantastic with my animals, and MOST of the assistants are great too. I have never had a problem, and they are reasonably priced for the services. Very clean facility.
My cat who was sick for a few days, became deathly ill and it was time to euthanize her. When calling a few vets in Central Ohio, Healthy Pets of Rome Hilliard offered to euthanize her. However, there were two fees ... a fee of $140 if I did not want to be with my cat during the euthanasia and $165 if I wanted to be with my cat. Are you kidding me? They wanted to charge me extra to be with my cat during her last moments? Talk about taking advantage of a fragile state of mine. I called OSU Vet hospital and they were able to euthanize my cat for $60 AND I was able to hold her during that moment. SHAME ON HEALTHY PETS. Makes you wonder how they euthanize pets if they discourage you from witnessing the procedure by up charging. Take your business to OSU.
I've been taking my dog to this vet since I got her and I absolutely love them! The staff is so nice, the vets are knowledgeable and take the time to answer all your questions. They have great hours and generally I can get my dog in the same day or next if necessary.
The two poor reviews were in reference to cost. I researched vets and Healthy Pets has one of the LOWEST office visit fees. Some in the area can be as high as $80 per visit. It is expensive to have a pet and if you can not afford to take care of it when it is sick, I suggest you think twice about having one.
I have never had a bad experience here and have recommended friends who have said the same - wouldn't take my baby anywhere else!
Stay away if you love your pets. We brought our kitten in to have her spayed (only) and was told that they would do it after she had her (worthless and ridiculous and money-sucking) aids test... so my husband relented and when the kitten was brought back in (with a negative test result as expected), the vet said that we would now need to spend another $60.00 for shots before he would spay. We would've never ever paid for the worthless test if we had known they were being unethical in their disclosure to us, and we walked out, $90.00 poorer. It costs $45.00 just to walk in the door!!! If my unspayed animal gets pregnant, I will be dropping the litter off at the vet's door. Filing complaint with the BBB right now.
I went to this Vet because my puppy broke her leg. She is to have a cast on her leg for 6 to 8 weeks. Which means every week or so she is to come back and have the cast replaced. Our first visit was to have an xray and get a new cast. That was a three hundred dollar visit. Now mind you I don't make much on the hour and live week to week because all of my bills are to be paid by me only. Don't get me wrong, when it comes to me or my baby she comes first and I would spend my last penny on her, which brings me to my aggrivation. I spoke with the nurse that assisted Dr. Huff and was told her future visits to have her cast changed would be no more than $40. Puppy pops up with an infection from moisture and we have to have her bandage changed early, that's fine I can handle $40. They take her in and in the end they want almost another hundred dollars from me:( So I feel that I was lied to. I can't afford this every 2 weeks. And didn't have the cash on me for her antibiotic. So they sent my puppy home with an infection because I couldn't come up with $14 for the pills. I don't know what will happen from here.
This is a very nice place is you are rich! The staff was great and Dr Huff was amazing.
I just really wanted to let everyone know how much I love my vet hospital and the staff! And if you were wondering, not all healthy pets are created equal! The Rome Hilliard location is wonderful, clean and welcoming. I wouldn't take my boxer anywhere else (nor do I think he would go anywhere else). The front staff is great! They know who my pet is by name and the redhead always makes him feel welcomed! The girls in the rooms are always super friendly and helpful. And the doctors...well they are the best in town! They are upfront about all cost and procedures! They treat my big guy wonderfully and I refuse to go elsewhere!! Dr. Huff and Dr. Keith are my favorites and I would recommend you ask for them by name! I hope this helps anyone looking to find a good vet because they can be hard to find. You will not be disappointed!
The whole place blew me away from start to finish! I was greeted warmly by the staff when I entered the lobby, they gave my dog a treat, and helped me get him on the scale (not easy!).
The place itself was clean, comfortable, and had state of the art stuff. From ultrasound, in-house bloodwork, digital and dental x-rays, to laser for surgery. I previously went to Banfield, but left when I felt they were only in it to get my money, and over-vaccinate my pet. Coming to Healthy Pets was the best choice I could have made.
The Vets were very caring and knowledgeable. They were gentle and tender with my dog, who can be wiggly & hard to hold onto sometimes. I have met all of their vets, Dr. Huff, Dr. Keith, and Dr. Kelleher, and they are all 3 great! They have far exceeded my expectations and I rave about them to all my friends.
My pets are my kids, and they understand that. I trust them empirically & know that their motivation is the well being and care of my furry kids. Don't bother going to any other vet in town!
Healthy Pets of Rome Hilliard is a bright, clean, and friendly facility for your pets. The staff is helpful and very upfront about costs and schedules. They are open late into the evening to accomodate your schedule.
Personal experiences: We've seen three of the four staff vets and were highly impressed with their kindness and knowledge about our dog and cat. After transferring from another local vet we didn't like, my cat went once for a healthy pet check up then had an emergency within the month. Dr. Schumacher was tender while dealing with her and took the time to let me know everything that was happening and how he was going to treat her. I felt very reassured and would trust him for any future emergencies.
PROS: Great vets and staff plus FREE new client visit (coupon on website)
CONS: None I can think of!!
