Great Lakes Fence Co

Our yard has some very specific challenges and Great Lakes came through to provide us with something we could work with and enjoy. The salesperson was very friendly and knowledgeable, answering all our questions and making himself available after the appointment. When we found that the estimate was just out of our budget, we asked if he could see another way to design the fence. (It never hurts to ask for what you need!) He went over and above by taking a second look, by making a small revision that we were even happier with --he saved us a few hundred dollars. The contractor(s) who installed the fence, likewise, were conscious of our home/yard challenges and did a great job setting the posts skillfully -around trees, our neighbors home, in rocky and clay soil. Our only discomfort with the process is that the contractor just showed up one day and began digging to set the posts, and the same for the day the fabric/gates were installed. No phone call, no appointment, no warning. I would very much have liked to be there when this was happening, I was uncomfortable having work done at my home while I was away. In the end, it's a great fence, our puppies say a resounding "Thanks, guys! We can run and play now!"

I've had my fence for over 3 years now and I LOVE it. I felt the price was slightly higher then other estimates I got yet still very reasonable. The quality of the product, installation and the service I received were well worth every penny I paid . The only problem I had was with my neighbor and Great Lakes fence was able to work with them to make everyone happy! Thanks! I highly recommend them.

Dear Colleen, Sorry for the inconvenience regarding the fence project.
Because I take great pride in what I do and strongly believe in Great Lakes Fence, I would like the readers to read the reviews with an open mind.
Consequently, our installer moved the placement of the fence by 12" to accommodate the customer's wish. Moving the placement violated the city code,nevertheless, we made a mistake. Keep in mind Great Lakes does over 1,500 fence jobs a year and mistakes may happen. Every day, month, and year we continue to strive for perfection while learning from our mistakes. I am extremely proud to say that Colleen's issue was the only negative response in the city of B.V. over the last 4 years.
Not bad for a Fence Company, just ask the BBB , Angies List or your local building dept.

I'd say Great Lakes Fence Company is one of the most expensive companies in the Cleveland area. They came out to give me a free estimate, but it was $2000 more than the average of the other companies I got estimates from. I can't comment on their craftsmanship because we didn't hire them.

They did a grade-C amateur job installing my parents' fence after my parents got a new dog that wanted to run around and roam the backyard safely. They brought the correct materials, then took a tremendously long time installing just one section and it didn't seem to run entirely smooth. My parents paid them for the labor they did, then terminated the job and found someone else to do a neater job that actually matched my parents' wants.

Price is right but service is not. Our fence was either staked out incorrectly or the installers did not put the fence where it was staked because when our city came and inspected it the fence did not meet our city's ordinances. The city contacted them continuously for over 6 months to either apply for a variance or to move the fence. Great Lakes ignored all correspondence from the city. At that point it was going to fall back onto us, as the property owners. It finally came down to us threatening to report them to the Better Business Bureau and the city threatening to pull all their permits to practice business here for them to get the fence fixed. We were not happy with their service at all.
