Ok - no doubt you will have FABULOUS experience purchasing anything from this store, and if they don't judge you in the first glance they will certainly be happy to take your money. But try to get service AFTER the sale. If you didn't drop massive money - forget about a call back, a special order or anything else.

I have been waiting over a MONTH for simply 3 watch links. Told that they would be there in "10 days to 2 weeks at the worst". But low and behold they are still not in - over a month later. Told the salesman is "too busy" to call me back, and the 4 other people I have talked to gave me such a bad run around that I am now left with a watch which does not fit my husbands arm.

In the meantime, I go to Las Vegas on vacation - see the same watch for LESS and the guy is willing to fit it right there on the spot. Stupid me - I should have done that except it was more than 30 days and I didn't think the Diamond Cellar would refund my purchase. So instead of getting stuck with a watch that doesn't fit - we came home to the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my LIFE.

I called the store and asked to speak to a manager. The "Director of Operations" told me to "be quiet", cut off every attempt I made to calmly explain the situation, and told me "you screwed up the order by talking to 4 different people and confusing everyone" .... EXCUSE ME? I screwed up the order? WOW! Mr. Croft - the Director of Bad Customer Service is what he should have said! I was very calm - not even nasty and received this kind of treatment! If I would have recorded the call it could have been an Internet sensation!

Since typing this - they have offered to fly a watch here from Texas to get the 3 links. Turns out the "Product Manager" who does all the orders neglected to tell my salesman that Swiss had changed the time frame from 10 days to 2 weeks and now it would be February 2011 for the links to arrive. But the salesman did apologize profusely and claimed he should have followed up better on the order. Ok - so we'll see how it goes from here.

Bottom line is - the sale went GREAT! My husband got his watch for his 40th birthday. But making it right after the fact has been a complete nightmare. He had no watch for our trip to Las Vegas, no watch for his brothers wedding this Saturday, and now I am wondering if he will even have the watch on his arm at Christmas time! They are getting 1 star for the customer service AFTER the sale. I wouldn't deal with them again if my life depended on it.

I bought an engagement ring and wedding bands at Diamond Cellar about 5 years ago, at the time I thought my Diamond Cellar experience was good. Since then my wife has taken her rings in every 6 months to be cleaned, and 6 times they have told her something was wrong with the bands (usually lose stones) and charge us to fix them. My wife takes her rings off before bed, and works in sales so needless to say she is not hard on her rings at all. The last time she took the rings in the salesman questions whether we actually bought the rings there and basically called my wife a liar for saying we bought them there even though we have ALL the records to prove it.

It's our anniversary today, I bought my husband a Baume & Mercier watch, BTW, it's good Swiss brand having almost 180 years watch making history. It's not like the other reviewer said below that it's unheard of... remember, just because YOU didn't hear of, doesn't mean it's not worth the money; so do your research before you make such funny judgment. :-) Anyway, my husband opened the watch clap but found out it's too small for him. I bought the watch from out of town, so you know I cannot get immediate help from my seller. I called Diamond Cellar, told a Lady named Kim of our situation, she told me to come over and she would take a look. We drove there 15 min later, and she checked it for us - it turned out it is a little different clap close of this watch, my husband didn't know that therefore only opened one side and that's why it appeared not large enough for him. Kim was very nice. She taught us what to do and didn't charge us anything, then wished us Happy Anniversary and Happy New Year. We couldn't be happier. She really made our day!

Listen to this....Ordered an item there, paid a percentage for a depost, picked it up 4 weeks later (they had to order) and then they told me it was rung up wrong and I had to pay the difference (over $500 more) , not the saleperson. Needless to say not happy with the experience.

Some of the reviews on here are almost comical (the diamonds aren't discounted, the watches aren't discounted 60%, etc). When you are buying the highest quality products along with the highest customer service offered, why would you discount your products? Sure you can get a lesser quality diamond at Jared, IDG, etc, and spend considerably less than you would if you bought from the DIamond Cellar...because you are buying a considerably inferior product! Diamonds are just like everything else in life, if you don't see the value in buying the best/highest rated among the 4 C's, than don't shop at Diamond Cellar, and at the very least, don't rate them negatively for it. I had my wife's engagement and wedding rings custom designed there, and couldn't be happier. They were amazingly helpful, negotiable on final price, and she stops in at Easton every time she's there to get it cleaned and shined...for free. We've been to many boutiques since the wedding (NYC, Chicago, South Africa) that have ALL commented (unsolicited) on the craftsmanship and design of the ring. We couldn't be happier and have been back several times for watches and other jewelry pieces, and will not go anywhere else. The sales team there are truly professionals that know their craft, unlike every experience I have had at Jared, IDG, and other mall jewelers. They're in or near malls for a reason, they want to appeal the lower-middle class general public. When you're ready to buy something that is a step above the 'masses', go to Diamond Cellar, they're worth every extra penny.

Wow. OVERPriced. Tried to sell me a 1.5C round, vvs1, F, diamond for a cool 20k. If you buy a diamond here, don't look anywhere else (or on the web) cuz you'll be kicking yourself forever. A diamond IS forever and so are your payments.

Have no complaints about the store, sales people, etc., - only their pricing. I'm writing this solely for people's educational purposes. Diamond-wise, I was quoted a price 50% ABOVE popular e-tailers (Mondera, Ice, etc.) and also 15% ABOVE Tiffanys. There is no negotiations here - none - you pay their list. It's easy to do research and find a good price - which I recommend - they obviously do not have the volume to support low pricing so drive to Chicago or go to NYC. If you buy a diamond here, I would urge you not to look up it's true value ....you'll be in tears. Of course, they promote the 'relationship' model with you, but who knows what retailers will be left 2,5, or 10 yrs from now. Did you think GM would be in bankruptcy? My advice - it's a diamond - do your homework, make sure the diamond has the appropriate paperwork (GIA) and then it doesnt matter if the Diamond Cellar sells it to you or your 2nd cousin Tony in NY - just get a good price.

I bought my (now ex) wife her engagement ring here. I learned more than any other store had taught me. After I divorced my first wife, I came there and have bought a few other things, gifts, a watch for myself, etc. Anytime I would ever need to purchase jewelry again, this is the place I would go. I've been to Tiffany's at Easton. It's decent stuff, but no better than DC, and just marked up because it's Tiffany. Some of the people giving negative reviews are either grossly exaggerating, or lying... I make a decent living, but don't walk in there wearing a Rolex and I got plenty of attention, despite the fact that I got out of a Honda Accord. My guess is that "Mrs. Lexis" is upset because she got denied for credit. If she truly had a "brand new Lexis that she paid cash for", I'm gonna guess she'd know how to spell Lexus. As for ignoring people because they look different, or don't have money, etc... Have any of you been to the diamond cellar website? Try watching the video from Andy Johnson, the CEO of the place. The guy looks like a homeless man with a suit on. Looks can be deceiving, it's a simple fact. DC doesn't employ dummies.

This place is good for watches or anything else they don't make. Their diamonds are of average quality and they have zero craftsmanship. If you want a named item that you can buy at any other jewelry store shop here. for engagement rings etc shop somewhere else. The staff aren't overly friendly and think a lot of themselves. Can't wait for Tiffanys to go into Easton.

I honestly can't believe these reviews that I am reading. My husband purchased my engagement ring from the Diamond Cellar and couldn't have had a better experience. He went through their whole sales process, then told the salesperson that he wanted to shop around a little bit before buying. She gave him her card and said that she looked forward to hearing what he found out. Not only did he find other stores more expensive, but their salespeople weren't nearly as knowledgeable as the woman he worked with at the Diamond Cellar. He would never have bought anywhere else. We just bought our wedding bands there and intend to go back whenever we want to buy jewelry or watches. I would suggest them to anyone shopping for "real" jewelry.

Going to the Diamond Cellar to shop for an engagement ring was a great experience. The salesperson was extremely helpful and explained the 4 C's of a diamond so that I, as a normal person without much knowledge, could understand. She also allowed me to look into a microscope to see the differences in the diamonds and explained the differences in pricing, completely supporting the customer's right to pay as little or as much as they wish. Their selection was great and service was even better. It's easy to get exactly what you want and have the service to take care of it in the future as well. I wouldn't recommend going anywhere but the Diamond Cellar!

The Johnson Family's Diamond Cellar (6280 Sawmill Rd, Columbus OH 43017) is the worst place to shop for jewelry. My husband and I went there to shop (our first time at this store), on our anniversary, for a few special jewelry items. I should also mention that since we are of Indian decent, we tend to purchase (real) jewelry items VERY often and bring our friends to the jewelry shops we frequent to add to their business. Upon entering the shop, the receptionist scoffed in the manner used to say "What are you doing here... I am better than you". We ignored this incident and went further into the shop. All sales personnel keenly avoided eye contact with us and went to talk amongst themselves. After waiting approximately 10 minutes for a salesperson to help us, my husband and I decided to go up to the second floor to see if we could find someone to wait on us there. Upon arriving to the second floor, we experienced the same treatment.

I went to The Diamond Cellar because I was told they have some of the finest watches and jewelry in the area. What I found was OVERPRICED merchandise from A-Z, and a snooty staff that must all be descendants of royalty. I stood at the counter for almost twenty minutes. There were two people upstairs in the watch area. One was in the corner going through paperwork, and the other was making phone calls, one after another. All while I, the only customer in the room, was patiently waiting for assistance. They both periodically looked in my direction to see if I??ve left yet. I finally had to speak up and asked if I could be helped and one came over to assist me. I found a nice Baume & Mercier watch that I liked as a gift to my wife. This brand is nice but it's readily available. I asked the price and was astonished to learn that not only was the watch not discounted at all but Diamond Cellar actually raised the price above suggested retail. I could see this on a rare Rolex that is on a waiting list, but on a Baume & Mercier it??s unheard of. Baume & Mercier is a brand that??s discounted everywhere as much as 60%. To add insult to injury, the sales person tried to tell me that if I purchased from other dealers I would not have the same level of service if I had a problem with the watch. As if the factory warranty would differ if I purchased from another authorized dealer. Besides, at that price I could buy three watches and have two to spare. They must think we are all dumb suckers? Thanks for wasting my time, save your pitch Diamond Cellar I??m going elsewhere! * I had to give a one star rating, if I could, I??d give them ZERO stars.

Oh my word. To go into a store and be treated so badly just because you might not look like you have the money to spend is so very insulting. Two different sales people gave me not just the cold treatment but one was rude to the point of getting me out of the store. They might have been surprised if they watched me go to the parking lot and drive away in the brand new Lexis I paid cash for. Yes, I could drop tens of thousands in the store but will shop happily elsewhere.

I just purchased a wonderfully classy and very special ring for my fiance. Not only was the consultant helpful and knowledgeable, but she recommended the less expensive ring. I am also puchasing a Tag Watch where she recommneded the less expensive watch because it looks better on my wrist. Anyone who only cares about price and doesnt want to deal with good quality people should go to the other stores. I will never go anywhere else but the Diamond Cellar!

I went to another jeweler (jared on polaris) to buy a watch as a gift for my boyfriend. I definitely was going to buy a watch so it was an easy sale. We had so many concerns about the sales tactics at jared that we left w/o the Tag Heuer watch we had selected. We left Jared and drove to Diamond Cellar (at the Easton Mall) b/c I knew they sold Tag watches. Wow, what a different experience...no pressure, large selection, very knowledgeable, AND the the Tag watch we wanted for the same price. We worked with Bill J. and left that night with a watch. Stacey

PROS: No preassure, large selection, very knowledgable, watch for same price
CONS:

It's fun to look around in here. They have some beautiful things and the store is so pretty. The people are really nice and helpful and want to help you find what you are looking for. They try to educate you on what you buy.

...but you won't be paying forever if you get it here! Definitely a great deal. The quality is excellent, the diamonds are beautiful, and the prices are unbelievable! The staff is also very professional and courteous. I've bought several items from Diamond Cellar and I've always been happy with the purchases. The Cellar has diamonds and jewelry for men and women. It's also located right in Columbus. It's worth a drive from outside Columbus, though.

I had an opposite experience from the other review...my husband bought my engagement ring here, and we bought his wedding ring here. I worked with Debbie Broyles and had an awesome experience. We could not have been treated nicer, and the prices were WAY better for the quality compared to any other local jewler...and we shopped around. I can't say enough good things about them!

We could not have been treated nicer, and the prices were WAY better for the quality compared to any other local jewler...and we shopped around. I can't say enough good things about them!

this place is overpriced at an amazing level. they say that they will honor any lower price but when you bring them a lower price it is such a hassle its hysterical. dont bother becuase the quality is not any better than other area stores such as IDG.

More about Diamond Cellar

The Diamond Cellar is one of the largest independent jewelry stores in the United States, representing some of the finest brands in the world. It's a long way from our humble beginning as a trade shop serving other jewelers in Columbus, Ohio. But through it all, one thing has remained the same. We have always strived to offer the finest service available. Whether it's in sales, custom design or repair, you'll deal with some of the most talented and highly trained people in the country. Our roots are in the goldsmith trade, and it's an area of the business we have steadily grown. We manufacture much of our own jewelry right here in our store, using the finest materials and craftsmanship. From setting an engagement diamond to a full-blown custom design, your jewelry never has to leave our store. In addition we offer in-house watchmakers who can service most of the major Swiss brands. Our sales associates are highly trained, earning degrees from the Gemological Institute of America, and many of them are Graduate Gemologists. They are true jewelry professionals who have made this a career, rather than just a job. Our continuing education and mentoring program means they're up on the latest information and can answer any of your questions.
