I worked for American Eagle for 2 years, and found the support staff to be most difficult. Some loans the underwriters denied at the beginning and then took months to review the original decision and approve. By this time a few borrowers lost their homes, or refused to deal with the company. I've been close to 30 years in the Mortgage Loan Industry, and never had the problems incurred there. I believe many of the problems were from fast expansion and my management team being in Columbus, far from my area. The group in Amherst seems to be much more professional, and turned around the loans that the Columbus group seemed to ignore very Quickly

Do yourself a favor and use another mortgage company. These people do not have a brain cell to share between them. Jack Spaner gave us poor advice at the beginning of the loan process and it we have been in a nightmare ever since. I have had to send the same documents multiple times, it takes 3 weeks after providing a document for them to tell you it is insufficient. Jack is not able to communicate with clients in a clear and concise manner, let alone able to communicate in complete sentences. The loan processor would not return the call from my homeowners insurance agent and then denied any communication with her. My credit, employment, and bank statements all meet their needs, but I am thisclose to losing my loan because of a loan that was paid off months BEFORE I applied for the loan or made an offer on the house. Information is not given in a timely manner, they are unprofessional and on occasion have been rude. Don't waste your time and money like I have.

I had assumed I was given a preapproval based on my credit report and income, I sent in all of my bank statements, which mind you, i have no reserves at this time, but hey, they have all of my information so this must be okay because they reviewed it, right? I then find a dream home for my family and I and sign a purchase contract. I later recieve a message to clean up my credit, which I did but unable to do so in a week that was apparently expected without being stated. Then I hear, well you have $1700 in reserves so you should be fine to pay these debts, $1700, when did I get that!? I scramble to get money from relatives because I cant pass up this opportunity based on a hiccup. Then I hear that my credit score has dropped so im no longer qualified for a particular loan, I ask to see evidence of this and there is NONE, it never dropped, somebody screwed up again. It was never high enough to begin with. By this time i had spent $1500 in cleaning up my credit, even paying off debts that were due to drop off my report in a months time, the seller is expecting to move, I had spent my entire summer focusing on buying this home and now i need $3000 more a week before closing because my score "dropped". At this time I have no choice but to call it quits. During this process I was also charged for an appraisal that was not done, a month ago, they say I should recieve a refund minus trip fee, because apparently they drove out to the house to NOT do the appraisal. Well, I havent seen that either, my emails are ignored and when I call the company, nobody knows what im talking about, what a classy crew!

After 6 months of dealing with a major real estates preferred mortgage company and getting nowhere, I called John Korinko at American Eagle and explained my situation to him. He met with me on his day off and started my paperwork. His team( Annette and Sandy and the underwiter) got busy and expedited my home loan. I'm SO glad to say it took less than three weeks for them to get me approved, closed and into my new home!!! Outstanding work by a great team at American Eagle- I cant say enough good about them!

We recently and unfortunately still are dealing with American Eagle Mortgage. This company has made our first time home buying experience a nightmare. We have had problems varying from misinformed information, paperwork being misplaced and having to be resubmitted, to having a hard time getting questions answered. We have now been in our home going on our third month and still don't have a bank to pay. We were told the loan was being sold. We did a 203k loan which was to enable us to put about $5000 back into our home. We arranged for two contractors to come and do the work because we were told that they would be paid in two weeks. It has now been two months and still the contractors have not been paid. We were also supposed to get money back to purchase appliances. This has not come either and we have been stuck using dirty old appliances that were left in the home. We have made numerous calls to both the Underwriter and the owner John Schrenkel. Neither have taken the time to call us back to even attempt to rectify or explain this long drawn out ordeal. I will never refer this company to any of my friends or acquaintances.

American Eagle is a banker and not a broker. There is a dramatic difference in brokering loans to whatever lender will pay the most and a mortgage company that uses it's own money to lend. Check them out on the ohio housing finance agency website. They are one of the top three lender's in the state that close first time home buyer loans with their program. As for Michelle O. Apparently, she forgot to read the portion of her real estate sales contract that specifies that the closing agent will hold $200 for the proof of the final paid water bill. So, when you sell your house and move to another state and don't take care of those things left behind, you can't expect someone to release the funds. In fact, not only is it customary to hold funds for final utilitie, some local ordinances require it. Seems like the local utilities departments don't like not getting paid. As for American Eagle, they are the area's largest FHA lender. When government loans are involved, you can bet that they are watching every move and these guys have been in business for years.

John, the owner, and his staff do a fantastic job! My husband bought his first house years ago with American Eagle Mortgage. They were great and got the job done! We bought our home together in Avon in 2005 with them and they did a fabulous job. We bought another house for rental property with their help in 2006. They walked us through every step of the way and were very fast. They got the job done! We are using their services again to help sell the rental house to a friend. So far, so good.

I sold a house. The buyer used American Eagle mortgage people. I had a hard time dealing with these people. They kept $200 of the closing money out to pay for any unpaid utilities. I had to fight with them for 3 months just to get my held money refunded back to me. I wouldn't use them unless I had no other choice.
