This place has great prices, great food and the best "show" in town. That means there is always some kind of friendly joking going on. The Food is fresh and made to order. Lon and Crystal make you feel like you're right in their home kitchen. Their staff is so well trained on each customers needs. Holy cow I don't know how they stay in business with such low prices. Usually you pay for what you get, not here. You get so much you will probably need a box to go. I just recently found out that Lon is an actual Culinary Chef. Lon can really cook.

I started eating here a few months ago and will go no where else! Not only is the food fantastic, but the prices and the service is worth it's price in gold. The new owners Lon and Krystal always say hi and take time to talk to you as a person not a check. The place is decorated really nice with reminders of the first White Cottage.
Chef Lon can really cook. This is the best little secret in lancaster. I hope everyone reading this notes the OLD dates on the bad reviews. Those dates were before the Johnston family took over.

No offense to them, but the previous two reviews are prime examples of "squeaky wheels". Bad burger? - Must've truly been an off-day or bad piece of meat. Bad breakfast? - It's a burger joint that happens to serve breakfast - not their specialty. There's a reason this place has been a Lancaster mainstay for 50+ years, even after two fires resulting in closing and a move. One of the best-tasting burgers in the world - prices you just can't beat - a great simple menu - and truly the best milkshakes ever. Service is always friendly and prompt, and if you want to see one of the hardest workers around, just check out the manager/owner - oh, yeah - she's the one cooking your food. Just not enough good words to say about this place. If you're passing through - two components of a great meal there : hamburger with Cecil's relish & grilled onions + chocolate shake. I promise, you'll wish you lived in Lancaster or wish your city had a place just like it.

Well it is really! I went for breakfast and lunch at this restaurant in the past and both were sub standard in my opinion. The hamburger was not cooked all the way through, still cold and red in the middle, must have been a frozen patty to start with. My soft eggs were more of a fried egg. Although the staff is friendly, the whole little restaurant smells of grease, really really bad, once you step inside. Take my advice, do not order eggs or hamburger!

PROS: Friendly waitresses
CONS: Poor tasting and undercooked or overcooked food, place smells bad

Went in and ordered breakfast. Boy, is it hard to find a good breakfast anymore. This one was just mediocre. Eggs were almost hard. Ordered medium. Sausage and potatoes overcooked. Toast was good. Wish that was all I had ordered!
