I took my car to Redlich Transmissions on 4/17/15 because I thought my car was having transmission problems. It turned out that the wheel bearings were bad. They replaced both front wheel bearings for $509. When I went to pick up my car, the invoice that I had to sign said 90 days or 4,000. I asked why the warranty was only 90 days. I was told the warranty is just on the parts. That didn't answer my question. I still didn't understand why I was only getting a 90 day warranty. I asked how long will this job last? The guy told me it would last 5 or more years and that they only use quality parts. I asked what brand and he answered Timkin. I even had him spell the name for me because I wanted to double check to make sure they were quality parts. I have a witness and he remembers him telling me this. Last time I had this repaired, it lasted almost 4 years and 9200 miles so I didn't think it mattered that it was saying 90 days.Besides, I had to sign or I wouldn't get my keys.

On 11/14/15 I took my car to Firestone because it sounded like something was rubbing against the tires. They told me it was the left wheel bearing and that the right one was a little loose. Firestone told me that there was no way the wheel bearing should go bad in 7 months and 2600 miles, that either there was a defective part or the job wasn't done right and I should take my car back to Redlich Transmissions.

Redlich Transmissions told me they would repair the left wheel bearing but I'd have to pay for the labor and they would cover the parts. He said it would cost $150 for the house brand and $275 for the Timken name brand wheel bearing. I told him that they used the Timken brand last time because I had asked about it. I told him Firestone will charge the same price for the entire job and I'll have a 1 year warranty and he'll only give me a 90 day warranty. I'd be stupid if I let him do it! I told him what he was saying didn't make sense. If he's charging for labor, then why is he charging $150 for a house brand and $275 for the name brand when it should take the same amount of time to install either one of them and Firestone only charges $189 for their Moog name brand part. He didn't say anything after that.

I had Firestone do the repairs and contacted the BBB. I shouldn't be surprised that Redlich Transmissions lied to the BBB and said I
chose the house brand part and knew it only had a 90 day warranty. He told the BBB that if I had bought the name brand Timkin part, I would have had a 1 year warranty that would have covered both the parts and labor. Why didn't he mention that over the phone when I talked to him on 11/14/15? He never said that I didn't get the Timkin part or that the Timkin part carried a 1 year warranty that covered both the parts and labor. He never corrected me when I said he would only be giving me a 90 day warranty if I paid him the $275 for him to install the Timkin part. I told the BBB that I never even knew there was a house brand because I was told they only use quality Timkin parts.

Sad to say that today I saw that the BBB closed the complaint and is considering it answered. It looks like there's nothing more they
can do for me.

I'm not sure what I can do next but I really hate to let them get away with ripping me off like this. I paid $509 for a job that failed
after only 2600 miles and 7 months? How could this be anything other than a ripoff?

I took my 2006 jeep to Redlich because I was told I had a problem with my transmission. The person at Redlich,I think his name was Tim told me I needed a new transmission. He could not tell me what was wrong with my transmission ,but did tell me the new one would cost $2,500. I said no thanks and left with my vehicle. On the way home I stopped at another transmission shop. I told them the problem and they put it on the rack and within 10 minutes they told me there was no problem with the transmission. All I needed was a new drive shaft...a $250 part! With tax and labor, it cost me all of $307.70. Thank God for Mikes Transmissions, and SHAME ON REDLICH! I just worry about the seniors who might not know any better.

22 months and 19,000 miles ago I had this place rebuild the transmission of my wife's 1996 Buick Roadmaster. They were $200 to $300 less than most everybody else in town. Today the transmission doesn't work and they only warrant their work for 12 months - 12,000 miles so I'm just out luck. They were supposed to have installed new and improved parts other than just what was broken to really make it better than brand new. Just hype? Apparently they do not trust their work and from now on neither will I.
