I went to PMC for a first visit today to get both of my dogs their annual vaccinations. In the past, we have always gone to VCA of Westerville (which I mention to show that I don't shy away from spending $ for quality care). The vet spent a lot of time with each dog, which was nice, but then there was a "misunderstanding" regarding a Wellness Exam. He explained a wellness exam offered x-rays, blood work, etc. at a discounted cost and I said I'd like to schedule one. Instead of scheduling for a later date, they whisked my dogs back and took blood samples without my knowing. They tried to charge me almost $700! I asked them not to do the lab work and got the Wellness Exam charges knocked off, thankfully (although it was still $230 for 2 exams and not even a full set of vaccines).
At VCA, our distemper and parvo vaccines were separate, with the distemper lasting 3 yrs and the parvo lasting 1. Therefore, the dogs needed just parvo updated. However, PMC didn't have a separate parvo vacc, so the vet said it'd be ok to just give a full 3 yr distemper-parvo. I even asked him a second time if that was OK and not dangerous, and he assured me it would be fine. Well, sure enough, one of my dogs had a vaccine reaction for the first time in her life. I took her back to PMC within 30 minutes of leaving the first time, and they kept her for 1 1/2 hours. When I went to pick her up, they charged me an additional $110 for treating the reaction that they had just caused.. you would think they could have at least charged me "cost" for the steroids and medication instead of regular price. I will definitely NOT be returning, and wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

I have always been pleased with this hospital. The staff and both doctors are friendly and helpful. Our animals have always received top notch care and they know my pets by name. I have always
left feeling good knowing that my pets were well cared for.

I took my dog to this clinic recently because the Rabies shot was due. We usually go to another hospital, but this one is closer to our home. My first impression was good, until I had to wait a horribly long time to see the vet. The lobby was tiny and crowded and there were people and pets crammed in like sardines, I though my dog was going to get into a fight right there!
When we finally got taken into an exam room, the nurse who checked us in seemed unsure of herself, and then I had to wait a long time again to see the doctor.
We saw Dr. Nowery, he spent most of his time arguing with me about my dogs food lifestyle, he made me feel like a bad pet owner. I kept having to repeat myself, and he seemed intent on selling me all kinds of foods and products. The helper seemed frantic to get our of the exam room, and the Dr. kept getting interrupted about other appointments and phone calls!
I just wanted my dog to get a Rabies shot.
When we finally got our bill, it was more than I was quoted on the phone, after all that wait time we even had to pay for a nail trim!!
I was outraged at this visit, and I will not be going back. I can get better care at another hospital for a much lower cost.

I brought my dog here for some routine shots after moving into the area. I found the service to be unprofessional, cold, and detached. They also charged a small fortune compared to other veterinarians in the area.

I read the couple of negative reviews on this site about Dr. Nowery and I am frankly outraged. I have been taking my pets to Dr. Nowery for the last 10 years. He is a man of great personal integrity and shows a real passion for great pet care. It's clear he always wants the best for my pet. I want to personally thank him for being a great friend for my pet as well as a good friend to me.

We have been going to Animal Clinic of Westerville for 9 years. While our dog was well, we had a fine experience of regular care. The staff did recommend alternative options like wellness care, etc., but we were always allowed to choose what we wanted for our dog, and they were always accepting of our choices. When our dog became ill, the doctors and staff at this clinic were phenomenal. Their guidance helped us to extend our time with her, and to balance quality time for her while not causing severe stress or suffering to her. They did an excellent job caring for her medically, and helped us emotionally through a very trying time. The entire group went above and beyond, with excellent care and caring.

As a supplier to Veterinary Hospitals, I have visited many hospitals and my experience with Animal Clinic of Westerville has always been positive. This hospital operates to the highest levels of medical care and integrity. The doctors and the staff sincerely care about pets, their clients and the community. I have a dog myself and trust Dr. Nowery and his staff with all my pet care needs.

I've gone to Animal Clinic of Westerville for years and had previously only dealt with Dr. Rogers, who was fantastic. Two weeks ago, though, she wasn't available and we had to go to Dr. Nowery (the owner) and we experienced what the other customers detailed: overpriced and unnecessary treatments. Yes, I got the impression that he's milking us for all he can get and he doesn't care about my dog. First treatment was $300 (with medications) and the second was $200 and this was within 3 weeks. The second time I had asked for Dr. Rogers and somehow they "thought that it didn't matter" and was surprised when I asked why Dr. Nowery was seeing us again when I had specifically asked for an appointment with Dr. Rogers. I felt manipulated and gouged.

The doctors at the clinic think that everyone is made of money. Growing up and having dogs we never had stuff done that this doctor does. Every time its a minimum 100.00 just for a check up. My dog is on heartworm medicine I told them I didn't want to pay the fee to have that done everytime I went in. You thought i was abusing my pet. I have been going there for 8+ years and I complianed before and he lightenend up for a couple of years but I have had it. They are nice people but they charge you for every little thing. They gave me a total of what it was going to take to clean my dogs teeth and said that if I don't I am hurting the dogs life. I can't afford the 500+ dollars because my dog is older. I should have changed sooner. Stay away from this vet or you will pay for it!

Oh how I wish I had read these reviews before I took my cat to the Animal Clinic of Westerville. What a rip off! My cat has a chronic ear problem and has had it all his life. I used to live in Delaware and took him to Oakside Animal Clinic (they're awesome!!!!). Well I moved to Westerville and needed a vet here. I wish I had called Oakside for a referral first.
We met John Nowery, DVM, the owner. I had given the staff the complete history behind the problem my cat has and told them what had been done up to date. Well after meeting this vet, he kept repeating himself over and over again about different things it could be, ie: allergies, etc. I told him I already knew all that and we had done many things to try to alleviate the problem. He didn't seem to like that and decided to do his own thing only to come back to me an hour and $110 later to tell me the same thing!!!!! Oakside would have charged me half for the same thing AND would have cleaned his ears which this guy didn't even do. I'm so irritated by the almighty buck attitude. If you're in medicine, whether it be for humans or animals, do it for the love of medicine... not to pay your mortgage! I will never go back and will tell everyone I know about my experience. Shame on you people!

I was impressed with the friendliness that was given to me from all of the staff including the doctor. They explained the things that my pet needed and why it needed it. They gave me the information I needed to be able to make the best
choice for my pet. I would recommend this clinic.

I tried this vet once with my new puppy and was shocked when I checked out and it cost me over $300! The staff tried to sell me "new puppy packages" that were not necessary. I felt very pressured. It seemed like all they cared about was making money, not about me or my dog. I would never recommend this vet, especially in this economy. I have since found a caring, responsible vet right down the street.

We chose this vet as it was the closest to our home. The office was small and homey, but not as clean as mentioned in the other reviews on this site. The wait was long, the vet was condescending, he kept suggesting things we didn't really feel were necessary (a dental vaccine??!!) and the final bill was outrageous! We've since changed vets. Shop around for a vet that suits you before you decide on the one closest to home.

I got a new puppy from a local shelter and needed a vet. A friend recommended the Animal Clinic of Westerville to me and my visit was wonderful. The office is family-friendly and clean, and the whole staff is friendly and caring. I was even given a basket full of goodies for my new puppy! Great service and vet care!

Talk about customer service - these guys are the best. This may be the only vet clinic that doesn't smell like a vet clinic. The front staff are very helpful on the phone; they call for reminders before the appointment and then if there were any concerns during the appointment they'll call you in a couple days to see how your pet is doing. My own doctor's office doesn't even do that! All of the vet assistants are very friendly, and they really seem to stress education about how to give my pets the best possible care. The vets are honest and easy to talk to. I've worked with all of them with one pet or another! I won't go anywhere else!

We had to use this office for a semi-emergent visit for one of our pets as our regular vet was booked solid. This office staff was wonderful. I was able to get a same day appointment and even had a few questions answered that could have gotten me through till our regular vet could accomadate us. The office was incredibly clean for a vets office. We were seen very quickly and the vet tech was also a dog trainer and helped me address a few issues with some behavioral problems. He looked at the hot spot and got the doctor. The doctor was very nice and explained everything very well to me about the problem my dog was having and what else it could mean. He made sure I understood all of the information and dosages of medications before I left. A few days after I left I received a call checking on my animal and to reassure me on any concerns I was having. Price was decent and would definately use again .
