We were assigned Fred's heating and cooling by are home warranty co. We scheduled an early morning service call and the repairman arrived 45 mins after we were told he would arrive and he appeared high or hungover. He then proceeded to turn ON the sink water even though we specifically stated that the sink drain was damaged and leaking (The wall had already been removed for the repairman to see under the sink and the pipe was clearly coroded through without having to see water pour through). This obviously caused an unneccessary situation where water poured down through the walls to which he replied "oh, I thought the tub line was the one that leaked". After my wife has to show him where the OBVIOUS leak is he then proceeds to mis-state the facts back to the warranty company becasue he is too lazy to want to do the work that is necessary. He states that we bended the pipe off and that he would have been able to remove only a piece and repair it without tearing up the floor, and thus voided our warranty. This was clearly a misrepresentation of the facts due to the pipe having been corroded through across its whole length with obvious holes.

Simply stated it was obvious the service tech wanted an easy start to his morning and would bend the facts to make that happen. But what rubbed salt in the wound is he had the nerve to ask for a $65 service call fee even though the operator at Fred's knew we had started the work and KNEW this would void the warranty. They came out knowing we voided the warranty and were willing to not report it but apparently only if the work was easy enough for them. We had no idea we voided the warranty though when we called and obviously would have never called if we knew and thus would have avoided the $65 service charge for nothing and avoided extra water unneccessarily pouring down two floors because some stoned tech is too hungover to listen to what we told him.

Okay, so I was a little fed up with the heating industry until I spoke with Kevin at Fred's Heating and Cooling. Up until I had spoken with Kevin I was being told that it was going to cost $80 for a technician to "step foot in my house."
