TOTALLY DISAGREE WITH BAD REVIEWS
by Karen S.
I'm jaw-droppingly shocked at the bad reviews on this site. I have taken my 4 daughters to NWP for 13 years. I always ask for Dr. Banks and am disappointed when I cannot see him.
He has guided us well through all of our children's issues severe and otherwise. Despite the very poor office management and high turnover of the office staff, we continue to go there because of Dr. Banks. Now my oldest is taking her own daughter there. He has been nothing but kind, gentle, caring, funny, intelligent, warm and patient with us and with our children since our first visit in 1995. I for one, will continue to support him.

rude doctors office
by marti b.
I have had some bad experiences with this doctor.
When we went to leave the practice since we were not happy there they would and still will not release my childs records without my paying some stupid $15 processing. I thought that as long as they were being released to another doctor there was no fee but they will not even release to my new doctor.
As per the comment that the office manager needs to be fired that will not happen as she is Dr. Banks wife.

I will NOT take my daughter to NW Pediatrics ever again!
by Charlotte O.
After watching the news tonight and seeing that Dr. Banks did plead guilty of sexual imposition of a minor and reading other comments of other concerned parents. I am no longer going to take my daughter here. Here are my reasons and obviously my gut instinct was right about Dr. Banks the first time I met him. Also, as others have stated.
-Dr Hersey was our main pediatrician. I had to schedule my daughter for an appointment w/Dr. Banks b/c Dr. Hersey was not there that day. I just figured he would be as good of a pediatrician as Dr. Hersey. Likable, friendly, patient etc.. Boy was I wrong! Complete opposites. Also, I brought up this fact to Dr. Hersey the next time I visited. We had discussed this.
I took my daughter to see Dr. Banks because I thought maybe my daughter had a yeast inf... Dr. Banks pried my daughters legs open and by pried I mean pried them open while she was crying and roughly opened both sides looking at her vagina. At this time I felt he was very harsh, he didn't try to talk to her or even explain to her or I what he was doing. He just abruptly looked and touched. I might add w/o gloves.
I remember leaving the office and calling my husband to explain what had happened and explained that I did not like Dr Banks and that I will not have my daughter see him again! He was rude, inpatient and rough w/my daughter.
My husband and I trying to give the benefit of the doubt. We decided Dr. Banks was just "old school". Meaning he had no patience and did things different or not as good as Dr. Hersey.
After watching the news on Dr. Banks tonight I am completely disgusted! Seeing this immediately brought me back to that day and the feeling I had when I brought my daughter in. Maybe I should have reported that!!!
I'm almost sure there will be more people telling their stories and unfortunate events w/Dr. Banks. Almost every site I have gone to has pretty much repeated the same problem's we have all had w/Dr. Banks. He is rude, inpatient and totally disgusting!
I am disgusted to read that he is suspended for only 18 months! I did read he will have to sell his practice. I hope whomever takes it over will do a better job. The staff there is rude as well. I must admit I have not once gone and left that office happy. The only pediatrician I have any respect for there is Dr. Ricardo. It's unfortunate some of the better pediatricians there have to deal w/this issue.
I hope Dr. Banks looses his license all together as well as face jail time.

Mostly good experiences
by Anonymous
We have been with NW Peds for a little over 6 years. We have had mostly good experiences. Not long after starting with this practice we decided we would see any of the Doctors other than Dr. Banks. Our new baby at the time was experiencing GERD symptoms but Dr. Banks insisted that I was over reacting and all new babies threw up to the point of not being able to sleep or breathe well. I kept calling and taking my daughter for appts and when I was able to see one of the other doctors she diagnosed my daughter with a classic case of GERD. Hats off to Dr. Hackshaw and Dr. Searcy (Dr. Searcy is no longer with the practice and that makes us unhappy), they are wonderful! We have experienced long wait times at the office, but on the other hand the Pediatricians are not in a hurry and take their time with our children.

THE TRUTH ABOUT NORTHWEST PEDIATRICS
by Diane B.
In regards to the comments made by Sean T. posted on 1/20/08 if indeed that is truly your name since after much research we have no record of any of our patients parents having this name, I'd like to bring a few things to your attention, first of all we do not offer walk-in appointments in the afternoon, we only offer them in the morning from 8-9 a.m. so it is highly unlikely that you had that long of a wait time at 1:30 in the afternoon since you would have been one of the first to be seen after the lunch break. Most all of the patients at our practice appreciate the fact that we do offer walk-in appointments in the morning when their children wake up in the morning and are sick, they can bring them right in to be seen, it's first come first served, most of our parents also have the understanding and patience to know that there may be a wait time in these cases. A lot of other practices do not offer this service to their patients.
It seems to me that if you were taking a 4-month-old child out to the doctor or anywhere else that you would certainly be prepared with a bottle or two of formula, just as you would have diapers, wipes, and a change of clothes. In response to your accusation that our policy states we will SUE you if you are 15 minutes late for an appointment, you couldn't be any further off. If you have a well child appointment that you are running late for we would consult with the doctor and check the schedule to see if the appointment is still possible, if it's not we would simply ask you to re-schedule. However, we see all illnesses the same day, all day, every day no matter how late you may be because your children are our number one priority and we only have the best intentions for all of our patients. Now that we have set the record straight, I'll thank you not to visit this review system again to make false statements about this practice or we will be forced to bring legal action against you.

New Name is Northwest Nightmare!
by Sean T.
Oh Mine! Have you guys heard the new nick "Northwest Nightmare"? Conclusion -- Excessive Wait time and Inconsiderate for children and parents.
This is my recent 2 experiences with this office. My son 2-month regular check up had a wait time of 45 minutes before we were seen, despite the fact that we had booked the appointment 1 1/2 months in advance.
Then, at the 4-month regular check up , we had wait time of 2 hours!! We booked the appointment 1 month in advance at 1:30pm. Mind you, they had a lunch break, and afternoon appointment restart at 1pm. We met a client who had appointment at 1:15pm, and they too waited over 1 hours. After they were finished, we thought it's our turn. But hell, we waited and waited.
The nurses used the excuse of Too many sick patients during Jan 2008. Well, I think the real excuse is the office is Under-Staff, and they want to make more money by taking EVERY WALK-IN!!
After been seen by the doctor, we waited another 20 minutes for the nurse to prepare the vaccine shots.
WE walked in @ 1:30pm, and we left @ 4pm!!! Their policy stated that they will SUE YOU for compensation if you are late over 15 minutes for your appoinment. But they never stick up with the same principle when they are late over 2 hours.
Imagine our son was crying over 1 hour due to hunger as we endure the long waiting time. Nothing was offered to us from the nurses and doctor. They never offered another time that we can come back to mitigate the painful wait time, despite the obvious fact that they have Tripple Book the appointments.
Conclusion: We walked in @ 1:30pm appointment time, and we left at 4pm, for total 2 1/2 hours visit. The office is way understaff with nurses and doctors. And they would take every walk-in to earn a living. Nurses knew this excessive wait time issue for a long time, but they never care and do anything about it. Imagine your own child crying over 1 hour in hunger waiting.
By the way, when come to money, they OVERCHARGED us by $33 with a claim of past 4 months. We were asked to PAY THE BILL IMMDIATELY on the 4-month check up, for additional charge related to 4 months earlier when our son was born. Later when we check with our insurance, the pediatric office found it was their own billing mistake. We asked for refund, and they would only pay back AFTER 1 MONTH. Quick to cheat your money, but slow to admit mistake and take corrective actions.
NORTHWEST NIGHTMARE, is their new name. Stay away from the Nightmare.
P/S: We have seen 3 out of the 4 doctors there. Dr Banks is the most rude. Even asking about the parents intimate past. We felt like suing him after our son visit.

THE BEST

Northwest Pediatrics is one of the oldest and most respected pediatric practices. The Doctors are not only board certified but very knowledgable in their field. They strive to make sure that every patient is cared for in a very caring compassionate way. I HIGHLY recommed any of the Doctors at Northwest Pediatrics.

NOT GOOD, WE LEFT
by Anonymous
Among the problems experienced in 4 months:
(1) Our doctor that we chose left and we were not told, when we asked where he had gone we were told that it was none of our business.
(2) Two computer malfunctions that messed up our appointments.
(3) Waited at home because office manager told me she would call me back. After waiting for three hours I was told that she would not call back because she wanted to stay home (Friday) and get her house ready for Memorial Day.
(4) When we found out that our doctor left and decided to go to a different firm we were told that we would be charged $15 to get our records, ridiculous.
(5) Dr. Searcy's suggestions were contradicted by other doctors and every online resource that we could find.
while some of the doctors seem very nice they are hardly giants in their field, overall very average. in addition, this is one of the worst run medical offices that I have ever encountered, i really believe that the office manager should be fired. avoid NW Pediatrics.
