Would NEVER go and take another animal of mine to see this man. Took my dog a few weeks ago to find out if she was indeed pregnant, was told that she was and he was sure of it. Called approx. one week ago to make appointment for xrays to find out how many puppies and was told that they only do xrays on the 57th day and only that day, not a day before or after. I finally got her in today for xrays and drove half hour to get there.. He never even examined her but when we walked in he told us that she was not 59 days and her bella had not dropped and maybe she even has a false pregnancy. I asked him to examine her and was told "breeds like that have so much muscle that I would never be able to tell" He would not do the xrays because, "our machine is broke" yet I got no phone call today to warn me and was not even told about it while sitting in the office. I really feel it was not broke, he just didn't want to do it. When I asked him what was I supposed to do He said just wake a week.....I'll find out the.

My pets have been seeing Faulkner for years. I was driving 45 minutes from Newbury to Madison to see him. He was always great with them, even my one Chihuahua who is a biter of anyone but myself and my mother, would allow Faulkner to touch him. Unfortunately, I had a 14-year old chihuahua who had become extremely lethargic and was vomiting and refusing to eat. My mom and I took our poor chi into Faulkner, knowing that she may very well be put down because she was unwell, Faulkner, without even touching her, said she had a vitamin deficiency and gave us vitamin tablets for her to take...we explained again that she wouldn't eat/drink, so how will we get this down her? He said "Oh, she will eat it, use people food if you must"...so we took her home, hoping he was right, my mom was able to get her to eat some chicken with the vitamin smashed in it, but very minimal... Within 2 days our beloved little chi died, at home. She didn't have to suffer it out like that. Then a few days later my biter chihuahua started showing some of the same symptoms as my now deceased chi and having a horrible cough/gag. I was hysterical, I called Faulkner, the girls said to bring in a stool sample..they said parasites can cause all of his behavior...they said he did in fact have worms...(He was on heartworm, so my new vet said it was unlikely he actually did have worms) we gave him worm medicine for the recommended time frame, he got worse, started having seizures and peeing on himself. I called the vet again and they said to keep giving him the worm medicine...not "Bring him in, lets set up an appointment.." Just keep treating him for the worms!!! I wasn't about to lose another dog to their faulty judgement. I called Big Creek Veterinary Hospital and they got him in THAT day. I took him in, the vet tested him for worms, did xrays, blood work, etc. Turns out my poor chi has a heart murmur and congestive heart failure. He is on two medications now and is doing much better. Had I not went for a second opinion I feel he would have died within weeks of losing my other little girl. I am heartbroken, she could have been saved, no doubt in my mind, had I taken her to a different vet. I have another friend who was taking her dog to Faulkner as well (She is no longer going there either as her dog died too..), she said she heard that his wife is very ill...effecting his judgment maybe? Not sure, but he has slipped these past few years. Might be time to close up shop. :(

I began taking my two cats to dr faulkner after being highly recommended by my co workers. I liked the fact that he was much cheaper and I had heard that he really knows his stuff. I brought my two cats in and without even taking them out of the carrier he told me they had worms and proceeded to give them treatment. I had to bring them back 2 more times when the worms did not go away, but blamed that on the cats having stubborn immune systems. Several weeks ago, I noticed my male cat bleeding from his rectum. I immediately brought him to dr faulkner with a stool sample and before he even examined him he said my cat still had worms. Without even weighing my cat he 'guessed' that my cat is over 11 pounds and gave him the appropriate treatment. 2 weeks later the bleeding was still there. I took him to another vet only to be told that there are no worms and my cat has an inflamed colon. I also found out that my cat was given the incorrect dosage from dr faulkner, as he is only 10 pounds not over 11. So after paying dr faulkner $42 to have him not even look at my cat and say he has worms here's some medicine, I then had to pay $150 for a correct diagnosis and his treatment. I believe dr faulknew does not give the animals the attention they deserve and will never be back to him.

A friend suggested this vet for the price. I had a 5 month old puppy that needed to be spayed by within 30 days and was trying to find a cheaper price than my regular vet quoted because I had just lost my job. They were cheaper, but told me that they couldn't fit us in for at least 5 months. I had a rescue adoption contract that needed her spayed by the time she was 6 months old, plus I live next door to an unneutered male. It was important to get it done within a month. I went to my regular vet (Brightwood Animal Hospital) and was able to negotiate a lower price. If I have an emergency, they can get my dog in within the same day and can usually schedule a spay or neuter within 2 weeks. Waiting 5 months for a spay is ridiculous.

I really enjoy talking to Dr. Faulkner..My uncle had referred me to him. He had taken his two hunting dogs to him. The staff is wonderful to me and my dogs. I had a great experience. Since I had my one dog already there I had bought another dog Akita and had him checked out by Dr. Faulkner and he did not charge me at all for the visit. I had my female spayed and he was so good with her. I am sorry others did not have a good experience. Y ou have to feel comfortable with your vet just like you are with your own doctor.

At first I really liked this guy. Then my best dog got sick, a 2 year old Chessie. He did not take the time to thoroughly check my girl or take X-rays of her chest even after two visits. Kennel cough and Pneumonia are very different problems. My girl got sicker and sicker, even after I took her back the last time he never weighed her or suggested an x ray. I explained she was not eating, and was getting worse. "Oh, kennel cough has to run its course." The following Monday I took her to another local vet, after x rays and blood work, they kept her, and did the best they could, she died two days later from fungal pneumonia. In the process of caring for my sick dog, we brought in our other two dogs, because we believed that they would also have kennel cough, as it is contagious. This guy claimed they were sick also and treated them, and of course charged me. These dogs never had a sniffle or cough, because fungal pneumonia is not contagious.

I believe that had there had been a proper diagnosis, she would have survived.

Words cannot express my sorrow and pain when she died. Think twice about who you trust to care for your best friend. Always question and insist on the care you think they deserve.

My dog gets very car sick so going to the vet is a big production. TWICE I had an appointment only to find that they decided to close early or the doctor didn't show and they didn't bother to call me to let me know! Poor Riley puked all over the car both times!
Very rude, very poor customer service!

HE DID NOT DIAGNOSE THE ILLNESS OF MY DOG CORRECTLY WHICH CAUSED HER DEATH. I HAD TO TAKE HER TO ANOTHER VET TO GET THE CORRECT DIAGNOSIS AND BY THEN IT WAS TO LATE TO SAVE HER. HE WAS GIVING HER VITAMIN K SHOTS FOR POISONING, AND THAT WAS NOT WHAT WAS WRONG WITH HER. SHE WAS GETTING SICKER AND SICKER, SHOT AFTER SHOT. I THEN DECIDED THIS IS NOT THE VET TO CARE FOR HER. I TOOK HER TO ANOTHER VET AND UNFORTUNATELY SHE DIED. SEEK SOMEONE ELSE TO CARE FOR YOUR PET.

PROS:
CONS: FIND ANOTHER VET

I am making my review based on a phone call made to them about services and fees and scheduling appointments....If you are in a hurry for an appointment than this place probably isn't the best choice...I called once and to get an appointment it was gonna be at least 3 weeks until they could see my kitty, plus the kitty would have been a new patient....
