Unprofessional and uncaring...

by S K.

Very unexpected rudeness. I was shocked. After being a patient for several years, I was in a car accident and needed pain management for muscular back and neck issues resulting from the accident. Being a DO (DO is trained specifically in understanding the muscular and skeletal system and how this may relate to disease or pain management. Sometimes a DO will practice manipulation of the spine, similar to the work done by chiropractors, in addition to other more traditional medical treatments) I would expect that they would treat many patients whom have been in car accidents or at least have lingering pain caused by one. However, I was REFUSED treatment. On the basis that their insurance does not cover patients with car accident related injuries. This did not bother me, the lack of professionalism and empathy on their part did indeed bother me. I was rudely interupted and given a careless referal, which I might add had no clue as to why they had been referred. What I once considered a very good practice has been tainted in my eyes by rude and discourteous staff, and in my opinion a policy that seems to limit their patients. I am now currently looking for a primary care physician who will provide treatment to all patients or at least provide proper referals.

Anywhere but here

by Ricky S.

A few years ago this place was a solid doctors office. Now its nothing more than a joke. Last summer I had severe problems going on that they could not figure out. I was sick for over 8 months before anything was every figured out. Like previous posts it was more about referrals than them being able to help me. So I waited 2 weeks and they still hadnt even called the referral doctor so I had to call another one and get in on my own. Literally 2 MONTHS later the doctor they referred me to called me. It takes them 2-3 days to call back on questions for the doctor even if it is something important, it takes them 2-3 days for prescription re-fills if they even call the right pharmacy to begin with. Ive never had the waiting issue people are complaining of but their ability to diagnose an illness is severely lacking. They will be quick to get you on as many pills as they can though. Allergies seems to be their go to diagnosis. Their ability to diagnose stomach illnesses is lacking as well. If it wasnt such a pain to switch to a new doctor I would have already done so...Its been over a year now and I still dont feel completely normal... Go elsewhere if you care about your overall health. If you think you have allergies go here

Stay AWAY!!

by Traci W.

This practice is horrible! When you schedule an appointment, they are never on time! You seriously have to wait at least an hour, I have never been there and been seen on time! I went once just to have my TB test read, something that should take a nurse literally 1 minute, nope, I waited 30 min before I said something, then the receptionist tells me the nurse is running an EKG on another patient and it will take an hour before she can look at my arm and say "negative!" (my mom is a retired nurse, and EKG's do not take an hour!) At another visit I went in because I had been sick with a cold for a month, Dr. B said I had allergies (which I have never had a history of!) so I played along, had the allergy test she recommended, then when she called with the results, big surprise I had no allergies, so she told she had no clue what was wrong with me and referred me to an ENT, which he quickly diagnosed me with a severe sinus infection, after 2 days on meds, i was better!! The last straw came when i was having some anxiety, and when I tried to make an appointment, the recep told me they do not do psych evaluations that they could refer me!! WHATEVER! So i switched drs and tried to get my records, but they want $30 to copy some pieces of paper! GREEDY!!!!!!!

BEWARE!

by Romona D.

If you have all the TIME and MONEY in the world to waste, give them a try.
I saw Dr. Brackin for several years. I had a 1:00 apptment with her. I also had a 9:00 apptment at childrens hospital for my son. Complications arose that were out of my hands. I called to explain and told them I had to cancel. A few days later I received a $25 cancellation fee. I called to find out why I was billed when I did call and let them know. The receptionist said NO EXCEPTIONS - same day cancellations are charged. I told her I wold like to speak with Dr. Brackin. She told me the doctors are the ones that approve it!!!

Every time I have gone there, I WAIT AT LEAST one hour if not longer. One time I waited an hour and said I had to leave for work in 20 minutes. Dr. Brackin's nurse said she would not be able to see me in 20 minutes. AGAIN I received a bill for "cancelling" my apptment - even though I was there and WAITED on HER. Dr. Brackin told me to schedule my apptments for 7:30 - the very first apptment. So my husband stayed home from work to take care of our 3 children so I could get in. When I got there, I said I was not going to pay the bill for a cancellation when I WAS THERE and WAITED. I told the reception I wanted to talk to Dr. Brackin about the situation. The receptionist told me I could not see Dr. B UNTIL I paid the bill. I said I would like you to ask Dr. B if I can talkto her. Her nurse came out and said "these are our office policies."
I then received a bill from them for "cancelling" my apptment AND an anticipated charge of $107 for that visit. AND a letter stating if I wanted my records it would be a flat fee PLUS per page for copying!!
That was it for me!! If she cares more about $$ than a relationship with her patients, she's not worth it.

Worth It

by Kristina M.

I've been with this practice since 2003. I have not had a bad experience. I now drive over 45 minutes to get there, but find it is well worth it. Dr. Porter always remembers me and my situations. I've even seen Dr. Brackin before and had good service with her. I believe the office staff could use some professionalism training; however, I find it's always worth my wait to see the doctor.

UNPROFESSIONAL

by Mike t.

I had been a patient since they first opened, but no longer. After numerous occasions of unprofessional-ism by the doctors and staff I have had enough. For instance speaking personal information by the nurse in the waiting room. Your wait is forever even if no-one is there, but don't be late, 5 minutes will cost you $20. If you have anything wrong with you besides a cold, get ready for a referral, because they can't help. Another time, they were updating their computer system, asked for my insurance card, been the same for the last 8 years or so I had been there. I didn't have it on me, the doctor wouldn't see me without it, but I still got charged for the appointment. No warning, wish I could charge them for the time they wasted of mine. This was on a Friday when the close at 11am. Might as well go across the street to the urgent care. Its faster, diagnosis will be more accurate, and a lot more professional. The first few years when they first opened no problems, last 4 years I wish I would have left sooner.

Poor Service

by A B.

Poor service. I have experienced this on many occasions. My calls were never returned in a timely manner even when I left a message explaining the urgency of being contacted back as soon as possible. I am seeing a different practitioner now.

Awful Practice

by A N.

My overall experience with this practice has been awful. I am a working young professional. The hours do not take into regards someone who works normal business hours. The fact that the office has "summer hours" is ridiculous. Illness and other medical issues do not consider summer hours when they occur. I have a medical condition that requires a procedure done by a specialist. Dr. Porter said the office would set everything up for me and let me know when the appointment is. She told me she hoped the procedure could be performed within a week and a half to two weeks. However, she failed to tell me the referral process itself takes 7-10 days. She never returned my phone call about whether the process should be expedited. I never received a phone call from this office to let me know whether an appointment had been scheduled for me with the specialist. I only discovered this when I took it upon myself to call the other doctors office. Requesting medical records is another process that takes 3 days. All I need is a copy of my last exam to take to a specialist of my own choosing. This has also become difficult and costly. I am currently looking for another general practitioner. Once I have my medical records, I will never return to this office. I do not recommend this practice to anyone.

Very Happy

by LK H.

I am very happy to have finally found a doctor that I really like. I saw Dr. Porter yesterday and she was awesome! The office staff was all very kind and very helpful. So much so that someone had left some jewelry in the restroom and they called me to find out whether it was mine. Everyone was very professional, very efficient, and very friendly. Dr. Porter listened intently to my issues/concerns, addressed every one of them and provided the appropriate treatment. I am very excited to have found my new doctor! Would highly recommend.

Great Doctors-- need better staffing.

by anonymous p.

Don't pass these Doctors by--very in tune with current treatments, medicines, and referrals. If they can't help you, they will find a specialist.Their own capability is extensive though, they will find what is wrong and follow through until you are cured. I highly recommend these Doctors, I especially believe in Dr. Brackin, she is my family doc.
The office staff has changed often;hope they get helpful professionals.

Terrible practice

by Rob D.

This group of Drs. is terrible. They say they'll call back and they don't. We are dealing with a severe situation and on three separate occassions they have failed to follow through on their commitments. Avoid this practice if you value your family.

Gone downhill

by Steven T.

I originally thought that Dr. Brackin was wonderful. She was thoughtful, listened well and paid great attention to detail. Recently things have changed. There has been staff turnover and I find the office follow-up lacking. I have called the nurse's line several times and many times they do not follow-up in a timely fashion or even have the courtesy to call back sometimes. The staff seems untrained and that is a reflection on a lack of training and poor management.

Love this Practice...

by Mackenzie M.

Jill Porter is an amazing physician. She listens to the patient and has been an amazing help in many health issues. She was instrumental in diagnosing my son with Asthma when other doctors just called it reactive airways. For the first time in my son's life he is able to run with his friends instead of out of breath and alone. She is also my children's doctor and I wouldn't have it any other way. She was the first doctor to figure out that I had Graves Disease instead of just telling me I was tired. That would have killed me! Would Highly recommend!

Excellent Office!

by Misty B.

I was new to the area, and chose their office based on my husband's recommendation. He is a local pharmacist and had heard great things about their office and thought it would be a good fit for me. He couldn't have been more correct.

The office is in an easy to find, very new, nice and clean professional building. The staff is very pleasant and I just love Dr Brackin. I have been to and worked with a lot of physicians in my profession and she is one of the nicest and most concerned that I have encountered. She takes her time in the exam and is completely focused on the patient. When she came into the exam room on my first visit, she knew my chart inside and out and knew most everything that I had written from her obviously very careful review prior to entering the room. She spent the whole encounter talking with me and getting to know me as both a patient and a person. She must do her charting after the exam, which is nice--you dont have to sit there forever watching someone write. She is so attentive, friendly and pleasant to talk with. I can't imagine ever going anywhere else.

Very Friendly and Thorough

by lealalogsdon@yahoo.com L.

Dr. Brackin is professional, friendly and understanding. I selected this office because it was close to home and I'm so glad I did. Dr. Brackin and her staff are pleasant and easy to work with. I occasionally have to see specialists for certain conditions, but Dr. Brackin manages all of my medications, even those prescribed by the other doctors, and follows up regularly to ensure their effectiveness and avoid disastrous side effects. This makes life a lot easier since I no longer have to keep track of which doctor prescribed what and when... and my pharmacy appreciates only having to deal with one doctor for all of my meds as well.

Great Doctor

by Jared P.

The office is very nice and clean. You can call and make same day appointments almost everytime. Waiting times are not bad compared to other doctors I've been with, and Dr. Brackin is always friendly and funny.

PROS: Fun and professional doctor.

Necely Organized and Set Up Newer Office

by Rise S. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 7,084

This office was able to get my son in right after I called. We did have to complete paperwork and wait about 1/2 an hour. Dr. Brackin was friendly and thorough. I did not feel she was trying to rush us through. I also discussed with her how she would handle another medical issue I would need to deal with at a later date and she was very open to listen to our needs and expectations.
