We have our car loan through Fifth Third bank and I would NEVER go through them again. We received a booklet from them regarding the number of payments and where to send them. We sent all 59 payments on time and had expected to receive our title. Instead of receiving our title, we received a call asking where an additional payment was.. They said that they sent us a letter but had our address incorrect. They had our street number correct but had the street name of an old apartment. They said they would resend the letter. They proceeded to harass my husband daily and even told them this morning, they would have to send the payment to collections! We hadn't even received the resent letter until this afternoon. They don't give any details regarding what this mysterious payment is supposed to be for or cover. I tried calling and even though I have all the account information, they refused to talk to me unless my husband is on the line. I find these business practices to be very shady. If they are going to treat costumers who pay their bill on time for five years like this after THEIR mistake, they will not receive my return business and I will make sure never to recommend them.

To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing to you with my concerns on how my account, 7431659486, was handled by Fifth Third Bank Employees. This branch is located at 5305 26 St W, Bradenton, FL. 34207.

Statement DateBalance
11/30/10 46.38

At the beginning of December, 2010, I went to the Bank to close the account. Met with a very helpful gentleman who used the accumulated points from this account to open a Savings account. He advised me to keep the account open until after the first of the year in case there were other points. I have not seen this young man in the Bank since this initial visit.

Statement DateBalance
12/31/10 13.89

01/06/11 (87.61)
Received an Overdraft Notice for (87.61). On January 7, I went to Fifth Third Bank and met with your representative Susan Snyder. I was requesting the Bank to forgive the 25.00 late fee and wanted to close the account. I was concerned that the card for this account was being used by accident instead of the card for the new business account which had been opened in Effingham, ILL., where the business is located. Ms. Snyder reviewed the account and stated there had not been overdraft fees or late fees in the past and wrote an email to her branch manager to get permission to remove the late fee from this account.

01/11/11
I had not heard from Fifth Third Bank since my previous visit on Jan. 6, 2011. This time Ms. Snyder sent an email to another supervisor, Sandy Sanhilli. ( I am unsure of the correct spelling of Sandy??s last name) I discussed my concern regarding the overdraft fees being added to the account. She stated she could not do anything with out permission.

02/05/2011(295.11)
Received an Overdraft Notice for (295.11). I again went to the Bank. I was certainly not a happy customer. Met again with Ms. Snyder. I asked for copies of the email she had sent and was told she couldn??t give them to me. I explained that I needed evidence that I had been addressing this situation and wanted the emails as proof of my efforts. I now owed the Bank $295.11, rather than the original $87.61. She then gave me the name of the person she had sent the last email, Sandy Sanhilli.

02/07/11(328.11)
Returned to the Bank and met with Maria Miller. I closed the three (3) accounts I had at Fifth Third Bank and paid $328.11. While I was in Ms. Miller??s office, Ms. Snyder came in and I explained to her that additional charges to the account were due to Merchant Bankcard sales payments and if the account had been closed, these charges would never have been on the account. The Merchant Bankcard had been advised to use the new account back in December 2010. I was never offered any assistance in settling this matter and to date have never heard from a representative of Fifth Third Bank.

I have gone on-line and read Fifth Third Bancorp, Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and although it primarily addresses employee conduct, it also states, ??Fifth Third Bancorp (??Fifth Third?), and its subsidiaries and affiliates, have many important assets, but the most valuable is our established and unquestioned reputation for integrity. As professionals, we are judged by our conduct and we must act in a manner that merits public trust and confidence. Because of the nature of the banking business, many people hold us to a higher standard than other industries. Fifth Third has adopted this Code of Business Conduct and Ethics to help ensure that it retains its integrity and merits public trust and confidence.?

I am in education and one of our primary concerns is customer satisfaction. I am sure that this is also one of Fifth Third??s benchmarks. I may be an exception and just fell through the cracks. However, I did contact the Bank on five (5) different occasions from Nov. 30, 2010 to Feb. 7, 2011, was never contacted by a Bank representative, and as a result paid $328.11.

I am hoping that someone will take the time to explain how this can happen and if there is anyway to rectify the situation. I hope to hear from you in the near future.

they have horrible policies, for instance, if you were over draw they would pay the biggest first so you would get all these over drafts for little things. so you get several over drafts instead of just one! every single person says i cant help you at the level i work... then why do you work there. we will be going to another bank by the end of the week!

Ok reading these other negative posts are kinda odd. If I were chumped out of $3000 I would be placing names on all these sites, just strikes me as odd how generalized these comments are. Anyways, I don't have a personal account with them yet but the business portion of the accounts we have with them have been to our satisfactory, nothing out of the ordinary from other banks except not open on weekends...but I believe that will change too. I work with a small business in Sharonville Ohio and have never had a bad experience in this location for years.

We are struggling as we have lost income. Our car and mortgage payments were late by a couple of months. We were struggling to get back on track. When Fifth Third bank called about the car loan they said that payment needed to be made that day. I explained to them our mortgage payment needed to come out this time and the car the next time. When I went into out checking later that day they had debited our account for that payment anyway. That put our budget into a tail spin and they said when we called they had the right to do that. It's almost like when your struggling they kick you when your down. When I spoke with an agent a few days later she said he shouldn't have done that the car payment wasn't even 30 days past due.
The bank in our area the employees are not friendly, they rarely smile when your there. Oh they say all the right things like thank you for your business and can I help you with anything else. But when your struggling they are not there to help you out. I have read quite a few reviews elsewhere on Fifth Third Bank and they are not good ones.
So beware when using this bank. We have since changed banks

After paying 5 times the appropriate cost for checks I contact 53 to ask them why the check fee was disclosed to me before my account was charged. They said their site redirects to a third-party vendor and they cannot be responsible for the third-party vendor. Hmmmm.....Very interesting response. They pick the vendor that I am redirected to on their site, the vendor does not disclose fees until the charges come out of my account, and 53 has no responsibility for the shady business practices?? I'm not sure what world they live in, but I'd like to think i trust my bank not to redirect me to a vendor that screws 53 customers. I wrote a letter to the President and CEO of 53 and got a reply from one his assistants basically reinforcing my poor opinion of the company. I foresee them being sued, again, for violating consumer protection laws. What a shame that in this day and age, after all that has happened in the financial sector of the market, we still have to worry about being ripped off by our own banks. Buyer beware if you choose to business with 53.

I realize most banks are like this, but after 10 years as a customer at 5th 3rd, I've gotten tired of their constant policy changes--which all involve new ways to screw you out of your money with fees. Subtracting pending charges before actual charges. Daily overdrawn fees, no matter what the circumstance. Unwritten guidelines on when and if they do reverse fees for you. It's all random and depends on who you talk to. Don't bank here, for your own sake. They've also been showing up on lists of banks that are on shaky ground and near collapse. Don't take chances with your money and try somewhere else.

Please tell me you are joking.

Fifth Third Bank has got to be the worst customer service I have ever received--and that's saying something. The manager is nice up until he sees your monetary balance on the computer screen and the workers try to grub out of your account any chance they get. The investigator is right on the same page with every other staff member: If something "goes wrong" with your account, you can sure as heck bet that you will be fighting head and neck for your money.

Personally, my account has been stolen off of not once, but twice. The first time I was making a deposit and the teller tried to cheat me $1,000. After getting into my car and giving the slip a quick glance (you should /always/ check to see that the balance is correct) I realized it was a grand off and rushed back in to have it fixed.

The second time I was making a check out to myself. I made the very very bad mistake of signing and preparing everything beforehand. It's a bit personal to indulge into but I changed my mind and made it out for $5,000 after figuring that $3,000 wouldn't be enough to cover my daughter's out of home costs. I went into the bank and had the teller count the total as I always required and he said: "$5,000 for ya ma'am."

A few days later I receive a letter saying I've overdrawn by a little over 2,000. Turns out that money-grubbing bastard decided to keep the $3,000 for himself. I was unable to get my money back because the investigator refused to let me view the tapes--only giving me a few screencaps that were unfortunately, headshots.

Needless to say, I closed my account a.s.a.p. and am glad that I did. I just wish I'd done so sooner...
