I've read lots of reviews about this hotel, and they all give it 5 stars. I can only think that others are used to lower standards or I was extremely unlucky.
I arrived on a Sunday evening. Check in was fine, but when I arrived at the room they had given to me it was next door to a VERY noisy elevator motor room. At the prices these guys charge that was unacceptable so I went back down to ask for another room. Thus started a long, wild, goose chase. The problem seemed to be that most of the rooms just had not been cleaned after the Saturday night.
We visited 3 more rooms which turned out to be unavailable. In the end I accepted a room that was not really satisfactory simply because I was too tired to look around any more. The room needed a makeover. The furniture and bath did not exude the feeling of luxury I would have expected.
Room service was OK, but my complimentary drink and chocolate strawberries came with my meal, which was a bit tardy, and the chicken wrap was stale.
The Palace restaurant was very good, as it ought to be for the price, although the menu is a bit limited - you wouldn't want to eat there very often.
It's not that The Cincinnatian is bad, it's more that it doesn't deliver what it should at the prices it charges.
