Ratings_icons Kings Island is a poorly run park

Ron R.

Poorly run park. Rides look like they never wash them down, just covered with old body grime and that was at 11am! 3 of 4 costumed "mascots" just as dirty. Buildings, sun bleached. $9.00 soy tasting burger. Why all the cheesy traveling carnival games, with loud speakers on the game host yelling to the air because no one was playing... is that fun? Many pay more $$$ to ride, rides.
I've been to Disney (Calif) and 6 Flags (IL). Kings is a poor 2nd to 6 flags and nothing next to Disney. No shuttle from car. Halloween mini seasonal theme at entrance (in Aug.?) Some employees, great, some not so great. Lot's of name brand fast food, great because the Kings Island "Stunt Crew Grill" was very bad! Not a customer in line at the grill, yet the food was a good 20min. old. Fries stale, cooked in old oil. Burger almost room temp. with a taste of soy I haven't had since my High School cafeteria! A $25. meal for two of pure yuck! Rides are fun and a thrill but this park must be owned by trailer folk.

Ratings_icons Great fun

I have been going to Kings Island since the early 1980's. They still have great rides and fun for all. If you are traveling from out of town, make sure to purchase the two-day pass to enjoy both morning and afternoon. The best ride..."The Beast" at night! Nothing like total darkness and fast wooden rollercoasters.

Ratings_icons Expensive and Poorly Managed

Jeff G.

I have been going to Kings Island since it opened and have had some great times, but the park has lost it's appeal. For several years I have hoped to return without the long lines and poorly managed concessions, but it just gets worse. Kings Island lacks the luster it once had because management cannot figure out how to grow to accommodate the crowds that mindlessly flock in every season. A few new rides to replace the old does not cut it anymore. Short staffing concessions on a busy Saturday is poor management. People get tired of standing in long lines for rides, but standing in long lines to get a pricey soft drink because half of the registers are closed is frustrating. Sadly, the greatest entertainment value today may be watching some of the characters that visit.

Ratings_icons A Royal Scream!!!!!! (the best kind)

Cindy L. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 12,781

Sure it isn't as big as cedar point, but by no means does that mean it isn't just as fun!! The Drop Zone, Face Off, Delirium, Son of the Beast... the list goes on. They even have a water park open during the summer. And if you get hungry during the day, you'll find plenty of restaurants to tempt you. They make the best blueberry ice cream cones ;). Just stop by any of the little kings island owned food courts.

PROS: Everything, the rides, the food, the fun
CONS: None

Ratings_icons Very nice place for a mini-vacation

Betty B. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 4,939

My family always travels to Kings Island for some fun and thrills! There is something for all ages so it is ideal for families. There is the Nickolodeon area for the younger ones and there is plenty to keep them busy! For all other ages, there are various rides for all levels of thrill seekers. Personally, I am a ride weenie ;-) but now that my kids are getting older, they are trying all the big rides so I'm left alone waiting for them. However, this is not that bad because there are plenty of shops to browse and shows to see. If you've never been there before, you should try it and I"m positive it will be a family favorite for years to come.

PROS: Suitable for all ages
CONS: crowded on weekends

Kings Island is an incredibly fun place and one of the most fun amusement parks I have ever been to. There is plenty to do for everyone! They have built on and expanded every year and there are bigger and better rides all the time. This is definitely the place to be if you are close to Cincinnati OH!!

Ratings_icons A good, albeit expensive, theme park

Russ R. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 7,966

King's Island has alot of good rides, but the lines are always long (some attractions are consistently a 1-2 hour wait or more per ride), and with the hefty price of admission you'd better plan to spend the whole day there to get your money's worth. You can literally be there all day and only ride a few rides if you choose only the most popular ones. The food and souvenirs are as outrageously overpriced as you'd expect at a theme park, although most of the food is quite good.

Ratings_icons Awesome rollercoasters

Olga D. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 10,192

Kings Island in the summer is an awesome form of entertainment, especially for kids of all ages. There are coasters for big and small, adults and kids alike. The water park is large although crowded during the hottest months. Almost every year there is a new attraction, which makes it attractive to buy a season pass. Great entertainment for the whole family.

Ratings_icons Pricey but fun family entertainment!

Bethany D. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 8,236

Personally I think amusement parks costs are getting way out of reach for most families, but I have to say King's Island is a must once every two years for our family. Staff there is helpful (one found our missing camera bag and tracked us down to return it!) and the first aid station by Hanna Barbera land is really great, staffed with nurses and EMT's. The new holiday occasions are intriguing, and our teen loves the Halloween spooky events.

PROS: Lots of things to do, updates and revamps may make more appealing
CONS: Big time $$$

Ratings_icons Nice Water Park

Jason P. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 11,173

King's Island is a pretty good amusement park and a lot of fun for a day. The staple of their amusement park is The Beast, a six-minute long rollercoaster ride that I was looking forward to, but to my disappointment, it was really rickety and I got a headache from all the jerks and bangs. King's Island compensates by means of Boomerang Bay, a water park with hundreds of slides and pools to enjoy. If you have young kids, there's a Hannah Barbara section for kids only.

Ratings_icons Getting Expensive

Kristin H. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 8,222

PKI has been one of my favorite places since I was a child. Now, prices seem sky-high and the entertainment factor just isn't what it used to be. Lines are too long, and after awhile it seems like there's nothing left good to do. But still, if you get cheap tickets, it's worth one or two days a year!

Ratings_icons Very Nice rides but high prices!!

david g. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 11,251

This is a very nice amusement park, but the price seems to keep going up. I cant understand why they charge for parking? Shouldnt parking be a part of your ticket into the park? Well other than that they have plenty great rides for all ages. Just make sure that you ride The Beast and Son of Beast if you ride roller coasters. They are top notch in the world.

Ratings_icons The Best Amusement Park around

Tiffany C. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,697

Boy do all the kids here love Kings Island. They always have great coupons and giveaways and htey always have some hguge attaraction. They are afforadable and offer many rides and stuff for all ages. They have 100s of parking spots and offer concession at ok prices. When I was 10 years old I remember riding my first roller coaster it was at Kings Island. I was on the Backwards Racer and my best friend was on the forwards racer. Neither of us knew the other was going to be at the park that day. This is what it is all about making life long memories.

Kings Island is a wonderful place for the whole family because there is something for everyone to do. For younger kids there is Hanna Barbara land, for the older kids there are tons of more adventurous rides. There is the Water park for the whole family, and tons of entertainment throughout the day. In the Winter time they even have a Winterfest.

This campground is pretty nice and very convenient if you are spending time at Paramount's Kings Island. Their prices are fairly expensive, but so is everything else having to do with this theme park. It is fun though if you are looking for a good weekend.

Ratings_icons well well well....

Patrick L. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 8,554

I do not know if anybody from the Greater Cincinnati that has never been to Kings Island. It's like the Universal Studios and the Disney World of the Midwest! They have tons of rides like the Beast, son of the Beast, drop zone! It is awesome... well yea I named some rides for the older folks but do not get me wrong because this place is for kids too! There are many cartoon characters that run around the place such as Sponge Bob Squarepants so this place is the best for the family! I also recommend the season pass so everybody can come back several times!

Ratings_icons Great place for a family outing

Shyam R. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 10,407

If you are a local, a season pass is the way to go for this park. They are reasonably priced and you will get your money's worth when comapred to the per person admission charge for a visit (which runs to $45 currently). The rides are great and there is something for everyone. Our family favourites are whitewater canyon and congo falls for the water rides. The carousels and the themed attractions such as hanna-barbera land are a favourite with little kids. And, there is no dearth of thrill rides - drop zone, vortex, face off, delirium and son of the beast being the favourites. There are a lot of restaurants too. During the summer there are fireworks at the end of each day.

King's Island never fails to disappoint in its wide array of rides and family activities. Every season theres something different going on and the service at the park is impeccable. Tons of fun and a lot of things to do, Kings Island is worth checking out.

Make sure when you get there that you ride the Beast--still one of my favorite roller coasters!

I have been going to Kings Island ever since I was 3 years old, and have always had a great time. They have a variety of rides for all ages. I love their roller coasters, such as the Beast, Son of Beast, and the older Racer. If you have kids they will love the Scooby-Doo and the Haunted Castle boat ride and the Wild Thornberry's River Ride. This is a place that all ages will love, so bring the whole family. The place is so clean. There are a variety of live shows that are okay, but I prefer to spend all my times on the rides. Be prepared to wait in long lines on weekends, but it is worth the wait. The admission price is reasonable. The price of drinks and food is pretty high.

Sue M. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 10,941

I HATE Kings Island! The price to enter the park is cost prohibitive in and of itself not to mention the cost of every little thing that a child could want. You almost have to be Wealthy beyond belief to afford this place. It's a shame when you nearly mortgage your home to enter a park then when your kids are supposed to be having a great time, you seem to be a big oger because you can't afford all the souvineers, games, edibles etc. Why don't they make family entertainment affordable for all?

King's island is a good pak to take your family to. The prices have increased, however, and parking is also expensive. Food is expensive for what you get, so we often keep a cooler in the car and go out there for lunch and then go to a local restaurant for dinner. The rides are lots of fun, but lines can be long.

This place is the best! The greatest wooden roller coaster, THE BEAST, is here. That's really all you need to know. Get in line and ride it as many times as possible thru the day. I also love the racers (as seen in a special BRADY BUNCH episode - that might make you nervous about the age!). They have great roller coasters here and kiddie rides as well. Lots of fun on a beautiful day when you want to skip out on your college classes! They also have special events thru the year as well (Christmas, Halloween)

Ratings_icons Great Park!!!

Jason L. | insider Insider | Rank: 16,180

This park is located just north of Cincinnati, OH. It is a wonderful park filled with many rides for all ages to enjoy. For younger children, there is Hannah Barbara Land and Nickelodeon Central. For teens and adults, there are many rollercoasters, sure to thrill. During the summer, it is great, because for the price of one ticket, you can also enjoy the waterpark, which is connected by a walkway or by train. In the fall, they have the park set up for "Fearfest" with different activities for kids during the day and at night is set for fear for older kids and adults. Great place to visit!

Ratings_icons Great Family fun - but for a price

Evelyn G. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 11,426

Amusement parks, like everything else have gone up in price. However, they have skyrocketed.

We used to buy season passes to Kings Island. We've been going there since it opened and love the water park which is included in the admission, The Beast (Even though it is a very rough endorphin releasing ride). They have a lot of new things but every time they get a new ride, we all pay for it with ticket prices. It's $45 per person and $9 to park there if you don't buy a season pass.

I come here at least once a year and always come to celebrate my daughters birthday. The large wooden rollercoasters are what they are most known for, but be prepared for a rough ride. Hannah barbara land is my daughters favorite and the offer an excellent selection of rides for younger children, enough to keep them busy for hours. Kings Island also offers a wide selection of food from pizza to ribs, and many gift shops to choose from. There is something here for everyone from thrill seekers to the not so brave. a great family outing

One thing that sets Kings Island apart from Cedar Point is the fact that you get the water park included in the ticket price for Kings Island. Cedar Point has a separate charge for their water park.

If you love raging water rides, flying in the air, coasters and more, you'll enjoy spending your whole day with more than 80 rides, shows and attractions. You'll find something for every member of your family here.

They have fantastic live shows, a section just for kids and an outstanding water park. They have the Boomerang Bay Water Park Resort with more water adventures, relaxtion and five-star amenities.

New this year is the Italian Stunt Car ride. You can dodge near-collisions, chase thru tunnels and more.

Kings Island is a once a year treat for my family. It is ridiculously expensive unless you get a season pass, or use a coupon that can be find on various soda cans throughout the year. The rides are great, there are plenty of places to eat and some shopping as well. Keep a close track of where you car is parked on busy days because it is easy to lose it. Kings Island is a great place to spend a summer day. You don't have to choose between the water park or the theme park because one price gets you admission to both. The two parks connect, so when you are finished swimming head over to the main park to catch some thrill rides. there is a large children's area, so younger kids have plenty to ride as well. King's Island offers tons of refreshments and souvenirs. Have fun!

The rides are awesome and now they have a water park, you get 2 parks for the price of 1!! The kids love the nickelodeon area. We love King's Island - the kids have plenty of rides and games to play - the waterpark is included in regular admission price - the shows are entertaining - the rides are fun!
One of the qualities I enjoy the most this year about PKI is that smoking is not allowed in the park unless you are in a designated area. This makes waiting in lines and having children there much less stressful. I never liked being stuck behind smokers for an hour when waiting to ride a rollercoaster!
You can't bring your own food into the park, but there is a tram that can take you out to your car if you want to picnic there.

Over all this is a good amusement park. They have great rides with the expected long lines. The ticket prices are outrageous, however, and if you plan on going more than once in any given summer you are better off to purchase a season pass with parking. The best days to go to avoid a full park are chilly or slightly damp weekdays. The food is terrible in all the park restaurants and kiosks. Stays away from the stores, the items are over priced and can be found elsewhere.

Ratings_icons Best Local Amusement Park

T A. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 4,282

King's Island is Cincinnati's biggest amusement park. It's about the size of other Busch Gardens, and Paramount parks and has some good rides. It can get really crowded on weekends and during the summer, so it's best to try and go during the week if you can. They are known for the Beast rollercoaster which is an older wood coaster thats a fun ride (if you like coasters). The son of Beast is best left towards the end of the day if you want to ride it, lines are long in the afternoon (sometimes over 2 hours) and the ride really beats you up. The cost to get in the park is $45, but you can save $10 by buying your tickets in advance on their website (print them at home before going). They also charge for parking, and food is expensive in the park for what you get. They also don't allow food or drinks to be brought into the park, so they make sure you'll have to buy stuff while you are there.

PROS: Family Fun
CONS: Expensive
