After three consecutive practices of my daughter crying on the way home, I asked her, "Why don't you tell your coaches what upsets you?" She replied "I do not want to get in trouble for causing drama." Naturally, I was very upset by this and spoke with her coach. She blew it off as if my daughters tears were not worth her time, and it was "no big deal". At that point I thought it was necessary to pull her out. It seems practices are directed more towards discipline than anything else.

I am the mother of the "unruly" 8 year old being discussed in the previous reviews. Although the circumstances are shocking and horrible to do to any child the end result was the BEST thing that could have happened to my young gymnast.

I am how ever not over looking the situation by all means, it was inexcusable. Coaches should NOT treat their athletes poorly, they should be thankful to have them on their team and that they have chose to dedicate themselves for all the strenuous hours involved in their training, instead "Coach" treats them as her own personal gain and then dismisses them after they become "unruly". My daughters situation was unfair and let me clarify that she is anything but "unruly". She is a kind young girl that shows dedication and never wants to disappoint anyone. To be told "SHAME ON YOU" and stuck in a "TIME OUT" is uncalled for and I believe any parent that had a coach treat their child this way would be anything but understanding.

I thank the person that wrote the "DISGUSTED" post. I am happy to see that there are people in this world that will not tolerate an unprofessional business owner never the less have their child go to a gym like this.

Also, to the "CLOSE THIS GYM" post...I too have filed a complaint with the USAG and AAU. I 100% agree that there has been several violations of their ethics policy's. In addition, we were under the assumption our daughter was registered as a sanctioned gymnast for the past 3 years and have recently learned she is not.

I urge anyone looking for a wonderful gym to better your future gymnast to look else where. After spending three LONG years holding my breath at this place this has been the best possible blessing that could have happened, I only wished it could have happened sooner.

I recognize that forums like these overwhelmingly draw out individuals who have axes to grind. But misleading information is being posted and I feel that is unfair to the families who have found their gymnastics home at Turle's, as well as to Kathy and her staff. Different gymnasts (and their parents) seek different things from a competitive gymnastics program. There are a wide range of programs in our region for that very reason. Some programs are very focused on getting their "star" girls qualified for high stakes meets. There is nothing wrong with that as a focus, or as a gymnast's (or her family's) focus. The program that Kathy and her staff have built at Turle's is focused on building a strong team, not just a few "stars", and each team member is given every opportunity to succeed in a well-structured competition program that fosters physical and mental development in a safe environment while allowing time for school work, family and even a second sport. The program at Turle's is designed to avoid burn out and over-training of the girls. The coaches are responsive to my inquiries. They make the effort to seek my input about my daughter, but I also understand that my job is not to coach and I have no reservations about placing my daughter's training in their hands. And the program works. The team members are blossoming in both technical skill and sports(wo)manship as a result of this program and the girls are bonded rather than cutthroat. Turle's is upfront about their program goals, and their fees, in my experience. I am not an employee and I do not have an axe to grind. I am a very satisfied customer.

Updated to state expressly, as apparently it is necessary, that I am not the owner, a relative, an employee, or a staff person of the owner, and I do not receive any financial gain in any other way by posting a positive review of this business. I am a customer. And I have posted this positive review because our experience at Turle's has been an overwhelmingly positive one. As noted above, you can't please everyone.

Please dont put too much of a stake in the positive reviews as those have obviously been created by Kathy the owner. If you look at the dates of the posts, you will see they are all bunched up around the same date which is completely

What a great place for children. Took my child to a birthday party. Very good people. Teachers were so good with the children. Place was clean and very bright and cheerful. Visited a few gyms. My child is only 1 1/2 yrs old and they start at 2 so we did little gym, but will definately switch when she turns 2!

We switched to Turle's Gymnastics 3 years ago and are so happy. My daughter is a competive gymnast and has made so much progress. The pits are huge and all the different training stations are her favorite. The coaches are terrific witht the kids and support and encourage them tremendously. There is no other gym like it in the area, and if you are looking for a program that make your child a priority....here it is.

I completely disagree with the previous post. I have had my girls at Turle's for 3 years. The staff is wonderful. The rules and policies are clearly stated on the web site, registration packet and explained at the time of registration. My girls have learned so much at Turle's. The gym is clean and safe and the coaches are well trained professionals who are compassionate and caring people.

I found Turle's website to be very misleading. The website stresses that all their coaches are trained professionals, but I find it hard to believe a 14 year old (my 10yr. olds coach) who first needs a work permit, is also a certified judge? Who knows if they are really safety certified as claimed. Not to mention Turle's must be ignoring the student-ratio regulations. Almost all of the classes seem over packed, and knowing coached do not have eyes in the back of their heads, how can I be sure my daughter is always under supervision? I cannot.

Also, I got into an argument with the owner. One of her employees infromed me about payment policy, when I came in a few days later I was attacked and called a liar because her employee would "never have given out this incorrect information". She refused to work with me or even speak to me with respect. Because of my experince I feel the employees obviously do not have a good communication system, and seem to be more concerned about bringing in money rather than safety and making their girls into good gymnasts. I have recently taken my daughter out of classes and we are currently looking for a new gymnastics facility.

Turle's is a very well run establishment. The management is exceptional.

Clases are convenient. Make ups are allowed. The management understands the importance of flexibility with scheduling and make ups.

Great end of the year show and every child gets a trophy.

As a former gymnast and mother of 3, I find Turles the best training facility with top notch staff, and equipment. You get a warm welcome each and everytime to walk in and my children have learned more than I could expect. Very caring staff with professional attitude.

I found Turle's gym to be disorganized and the owner and director to be very matter of fact and lacking people skills. My main concern for my daughter would be the fact they do not help develop their self esteem and confidence.
