.

WATH has been an Athens fixture for decades, but with the purchase of the station more than 30 years ago, it took on a more active local quality.

From the local call in talk show weekdays at 9:05 a.m. to the Noon news, the emphasis is on local.

A great source for school closures and delays, this station serves the public for the first half of the day. Unfortunately, recent changes to pre-recorded afternoon popular music shows eliminates the ability to get immediate response to requests or current temperatures, but that seems to be the wave of the future.

The sister station, WXTQ Power 105 continues to cater to the Ohio University student population, and features most of the same advertisers and talent heard on WATH AM, but with a decidedly current Top 40/Hip Hop feel to the music.

Very popular with the young crowd, this station is the local music outlet with longer hours of live programming into the night.

Though there are other stations in Athens County, these two are the most responsive to the Athens city community.

Check them out.
