Shamrock Towing stole my car that was parked on a privately owned street.. (hospital owned) They stated that someone name "Jeff" called and requested it be towed.. They failed to realize that I'm the hospital operator, and never would I request my own vehicle be towed!!! There is to be a specific code given when tows are requested, this was never verified by Shamrock..(The girl on the phone said she was given a code) After going back and forth with them, I let the Columbus Police deal with them... The officer actually drove me to their nasty office to ensure I had no problems from them.. It smelled horrible, and the glass window holes looked to be stained of nicotine.. They had paperwork filled out and a charges of $140 or so, but they did NOT charge me.. (The officer advised them that my car was illegally towed) A police report has been filed and I will pursue them legally.. What an awful feeling to have your car stolen!! These crooks need to be stopped from taking advantage of people.. Had I not been the operator, I am 100% positive they would have may me pay to get my car back, even though they are the ones that stole it!!!

My 1999 Mercedes was towed by Shamrock Towing, Inc. on 1/13/2011 from a parking lot at Columbus State College. Immediately after picking up the car, my son noticed
the loss of pressure in his brakes. Two days later, the damage made to his car by the towing device, almost cost him his life. The caliper was broken and he lost all brake fluid. The mechanic said that something big broke the caliper - when I mentioned he was towed earlier in the week, he verified that was likely the cause. The cost for repair is ~$300.00 in addition to the tow of $92.58. I contacted the owner, Mike Wilson, and he went to the mechanic to take pictures of the underneath of the car. He told me he would get back to me - and he did not. I had to call him, and a person in the office, told me he was out sick for the day. I told her that I had talked to him earlier and that he went to look at my car. He then returned my call, and told me that there was no way his towing device could have broken the caliper. He also told me that is what
the mechanic agreed with. He has no intentions of providing a resolution. I immediately called my mechanic, and he said that he didn't agree with Mike. Mike would not consider that it could have been caused by operator error. Here are the facts: 1) I had just had the car serviced on 1/6 and the brakes were in perfect (new) condition 2) my son drives to school and the brake pressure is normal 3) he is towed by Shamrock Towing 4) we pick up the car and within the first 5 minutes of driving the car, he notices a significant change in the pressure of the brakes 5) I call Shamrock Towing on that afternoon and explain the situation, and they say there is no way they could cause the brake problems 6) two days later my son loses all brake power and risks his life 7) car is taken to the mechanic where he confirms damage to the caliper and no
brake fluid 8) I share that the car had been towed, and he confirmed that could be the cause. 9) Contact Mike Wilson and he says he'll look into it and will get back to me. He claims a rock was caught in the snow and cut the brake line. He would not even consider operator error. All I know is the brakes were in perfect condition the week before, and since being towed, my son could have been involved in a serious accident.

Two thugs from Shamrock showed up in my condo complex, which was hired by (Condo Administrators) and towed my Father' s vehicle. They were a very poor excuse for business men. My son realized what he was dealing with and took their keys in order to prevent them from driving off with the vehicle. My son then called the police and waited for them to arrive. In the meantime, one of these men pulled out a large metal object about 4 feet long with a hook on the end and threatened bodily harm to my son. We as citizens should not have to put up with thugs like this. They demanded $110.00 to unhook the vehicle and leave without it. When the police arrived they warned Shamrock Towing to leave the premises. If you are thinking about using this service please think again...why would any legal business in good standing want to deal with people like this. Please, all who have had problems with Shamrock, write the Columbus Better Business Bureau, file a complaint with the Attorney General's office, do whatever it takes to legally put a stop to their madness. This has become more than about money and greed.

Very rude workers. They wanted to hit one of my friends just because he wanted to get the proof of insurance that was in the car. Also were making racial remarks toward Hispanics.

My car got towed by these liars. This company apparently "checked" to see if I was in my car. I was in my car and I'm telling you they never did. I fell asleep for 5 minutes waiting for my friend to get off work to take him home and the truck hooked up my car and tried to tow my car WITH ME IN IT. I jumped out of my car (hurting my ankle in the process) and left the door open and talked to the guy who told me to pay him (a false amount of money) or he's tow my car. He began to drive off when people who saw me jump out of my car chased after him and he finally let me back in my car just to let me get my phone. I called their call center to talk to some girl who doesn't even know who her manager is or left from right. She constantly yelled "GOD BLESS YOU" and hung up the phone. She even admitted that the driver said I was in my car when he towed it. This company put me in danger and has some of the dumbest employees on the face of the earth.

My car was towed from the Short North after only approximately 1 hour. They towed my car because they claimed I did not put in enough money into the little box, but I HAD. They relied upon a picture taken of the box -- which is full of money. So how could they tell I (supposedly) shorted them a whopping $2??? They are scammers!! Now, they won't return my phone calls and I'm sending all this information to the BBB. I am not letting them keep my $140 for something I did NOT do (or fail to do). Unfortunately, it's my word against theirs. It's not fair.

Cons: Unfriendly, non-responsive and generally obnoxious!

These scumbags make their money by towing peoples cars and charging outrageous fees. If you call a reputable towing company, you'll be charged less than a $100 even for a decent distance. If your car gets towed by these scums, it'll be closer to $300.

As a member of the Ohio State undergraduate, I figured I'd let my voice be heard.

These men will "hide" out and simply wait for transgressors to park somewhere even if it simply for a 10 minutes or less errand. Me and my friend parked behind the 24 hour Steak n' Shake at 3 in the morning on a weekday in January. There is no parking near the building that is legal, but we couldn't walk because it was about 15 degrees and snowing like crazy.

Did that stop Shamrock? We walked out of the resteraunt not 25 minutes later to find out car was missing. We had to walk all the way back to our apartment without proper clothing for the weather because we had driven there in our comfy and warm car.

We certainly weren't hurting anyone at 3 in the morning, this was all about the money, and it sickens me that people actually recommend this company.

Think about the hundreds of victims of their despicable and greedy business practices before you commend them for services.

PROS: none
CONS: Greedy, money grubbing predatory vultures

On Saturday Dec. 27th 2003, my wife & I, who are both right around 50 years of age, took a one day vacation to Columbus. We live near Cortland, Ohio (about 20 miles north of Youngstown). Our general itinerary for the day was to attend a reptile show on the west side, then to go enjoy the city for the rest of the afternoon, and then to dinner in the German village. I remembered that there were some interesting art galleries & small shops on High St. just on the east side of O.S.U. campus, so we went there and browsed a few of the stores. We happened upon a pet shop on the corner of E. 13th St. & Pearl (near High St.). We were in the pet store about ten minutes and upon our departure, we discovered that our vehicle had been stolen. In a panic, I went back into the pet store to call the police, only to be notified by the owner that it was probably towed away by Shamrock towing, I had parked across the street in the parking area for an apartment building owned by GAS properties. It was at this point when our nightmare began. You must understand that my wife is a legally blind, semi invalid, diabetic suffering from acute neuropathy. She left her coat in the car, as well as some frogs that she had purchased at the reptile show and her insulin. I called the towing company and was informed that I could pick up my vehicle at their storage yard on Hamlet St. for a fee of $ 109.40. At that point, I did call the police, and was told that they could not help. The pet store owner said that the tow trucks patrol the area like vultures, and provided directions (as my map of Columbus was also in the car), and we started walking. We arrived after an arduous walk of fourteen blocks in the cold at shamrock towing. I provided identification, proof of ownership and paid the pirates, (cash only) then gathered my totally exhausted wife & drove home.

PROS: zero
CONS: unlawful action

I have experience with this company because when my wife lived at OSU they monitored her apartment parking lot and towed cars that didn't belong. There were many night either her or I called to report a car in the aprking lot that needed towed, but they were not quick to respond. I understand it was campus area, and maybe not a top priority, but I was not impressed.

They towed our car near High Street because we parked in the private area. We arrived just in time to see them "hook up" our car. My father asked the driver to wait so he can pay on the spot. The driver said he would wait. Right after the my father left, they drove off with our car. We then had to wait 3 hours to get a ride to the lot and paid $120 for the pickup. First of all, when the car is hooked up the fine is only $45. The driver lied and said it was $90. They said they would wait, but didn't, and made us pay extra $30 for parking it in the lot. They lied to us, cheated us off our money. Also the front of our car, had paint scratched on. Horrible costumer service, all they want to do is earn money and cheat people out of their money.

THEY DONT EVEN DESERVE 1 STAR!

These people will tow you so fast if you are in a tow away zone, but they are also quick when you call them and actually want your car towed. They were friendly and the price was reasonable. I've only had to use them once but I'd use them again.
