Their incompetence ruined my husband's surprise!

by judy f.

My husband is currently working in Aphganistan and he wanted to do something nice for me. He went to great length to plan a day of relaxation for me. He had called Identity and reserved a manicure and a massge for me and my girlfriend to be done at the same time. He gave his credit care number to the receptionist and instructed her that it is to paid for by his card but to not run it until the day of so I would not see the charge. He spoke to someone the day before to confirm the appointments and spoke to someone the morning of and was assured that everything was taken care of. A limo came to my house and picked me and my girlfriend up and took us to the salon. We walked into the facility to discover they only have one reservation and it was for my girlfriend, not even for me, who this planning was to be for. Then the receptionist asked ME if I wanted to pay for this "before I got my manicure". Knowing that my husband would never plan this without taking care of the cost of it, I asked her to call Kenwood and check to see if payment arrangements have already been made. She called them and then told me that "there was no gift card there in my name". So I went ahead and put the charge on my card. Needless to say, the day was greatly dampened because of the incompetence of the staff and lack of ability to take care of a gift from a husband. You would expect a "spa" to know how to successfully make a gift day of relaxation truly relaxing. It also cost my husband more for the limo since we had to stay longer due to them only having one reservation. we could not get our massages at the same time resulting in an increased cost to us. When I told my husband what happened, he was VERY disappointed and upset. He emailed them about the situation. He receive NO response. I was very upset and called the next day. I asked for a manager and was told the manager was not in. The person on the phone asked what it was pertaining to so I told her what happened. She assured me that she would leave word and a manager would call me the next day. Of course THAT NEVER HAPPENED!. It is amazing that this business would let this happen when they have MITCHELL'S as competition very close to their Kenwood center. I will not go back. I will go somewhere that genuinely cares about good customer service!!! That certainly is not Identity. I only gave this place one star because I had to give it a star!

Identity is terrible. DO NOT trust them

by Anonymous

Do not rely on Identity for any beauty treatments. I had been going to this Kenwood location for over 4 years and was getting mediocre service. I felt "safe" to have my wedding hair done there along with some of my bridesmaids. Terrible mistake! Tamara decided to take a "walk-in" five minutes before my appointment the day of my wedding. While the rest of my day was too perfect to be true, Identity tried to put a huge damper on it. I am so glad I had blocked 3 hours for this event that should have only taken one. I didn't get sat until 45 minutes after my scheduled time! This appointment had been planned for over 9 months, and I had been going to the same person for about a year. If they can't get a client's wedding day right, what else should one worry about at selfish Identity?

Poor Service

by Kathy C.

I waited over an hour for my hair appointment, checking at the front desk several times. Finally after an hour with no status update I went to the front desk and told them I was leaving. Why should I have to wait an hour for a scheduled appointment when I arrived promptly. I am very disappointed in the service and attention I received. My appointment was with Jeanette for 7:30 on Monday, Dec. 10th. at the Kenwood salon.

gate keepers but which gates, they are not angels

by sylivia b.

I have gone several times to Identity and have never been happy with the receptionists either in person or on the phone. They have kept me waiting on the phone each time for several mintues. The sytlists are rude and think they are much better than they are. I am paying them, they are not paying me. I do love Claude, a perfectionist and an expert at her work. I don't think it is worth $30.00 to have my eyebrows threaded which leads me to believe managment will take advantage of their clients rather than have their care foremost in mind.I will contiune to go for Claude alone but never again will any other service be utilized at Identity Salons.

Don't Get a Haircut Here!

by Anonymous

In my quest to find a good hair stylist after moving to Cincinnati, I tried this salon as a walk-in.

The receptionist was not friendly. I was given a choice between two hairdressers -- one who was new to hair for a little over $20 and one with experience at $70. I never pay that much for hair, but did not want someone brand new.

What they did NOT say was that the hairdresser assigned had a second job as a rep for Bedhead product. The hairdresser was decent at pushing the product, and unfortunately not as good at cutting hair. It looked fine the first 24 hours, and then horrendous after that point. And, I had made only one request about ensuring that certain locks of hair could be tucked behind my ear so they did not fall into my face when presenting or eating meals with clients, and reiterated several times that this one thing was important and showing her what I wanted. I spent the next 5 months trying to grow out that section of hair because she decided to do her own thing anyway! Plus, I had to go get the back cut again 3 weeks later because the short layers were not growing out correctly or evenly since she had not done them right.

Additionally, she encouraged me to come back as repeat customers helped her to raise her prices.

Expensive, but worth it!!!

by Kirsten H. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 7,410

Identity Salon and Spa is expensive, however, they are not as pricey as many of the other well-recognized spas in the area. I have gotten several packages from Identity as gifts, and their spa experience is phenomenal! I love the facials, massages and pedicures. The products they carry are great too. Their hair stylists don't seem to take much time or care and last time I came in to have my hair "styled" as part of a gift package, I got my hair washed and blow-dried straight. That's it. Nothing more at all. Took all of 10 minutes.
