Rips off everyone and inflates price by keeping limited releases off floor and putting them on ebay.

Folks,
Most of what this place has to offer can be downloaded for free. Check out bt.etree.org, The Traders Den, Lossless Legs, or Dimeadozen and you will see many, if not all, of the music here for the absolute price of $0.00. The only requirement these sites have is to sign-up and learn how to use bit torrent protocols. Then again, if you have money to burn and really don't care about throwing it away, have at it at this store.

It is a great store, yeah the place is a little messy but you just have to take the time to look through everything. You will find some gems. This is the only record store I will go to.

While the store may be messy and there are albums nobody would ever consider buying, half of the fun of finding a rare album is the hunt! i found the rest of the incredibly old swing albums i've been interested in getting for a while, and had to come back a few days later to get some more. the owner recognised me and talked with me about my purchase! The discography i bought had barely been touched, it was 6 discs and unmarked, so the owner gave it to me for only 4 dollars.
They're also very good at ordering whatever you need, and they know a lot about fairly unknown and local bands. Yes, a lot of the CDs are from unknown or old bands, but the store also has a lot of very well known and alternative choices in more genres than best buy could ever dream of.
Bottom Line, if i can't find a CD i go to Time Traveler. If I want vinyl, I go there and look through what they have. It's a smaller, local store where they're willing to give each and every customer personal attention!

This place does NOT warrant the high ratings it has been getting. While I agree that the manager and staff are okay people, the place itself is an absolute mess. By all appearances it is a dilapidated thrift store that sells music.Yes, they literally have tons of LPs (in addition to cds), but 98% of them are old Christmas carol albums, goofy kids records, and no-name bands (who the bloody hell are "The Nylons"?). NONE of the LPs are in great condition (nor are any of the cds for that matter). The stuff is stashed about haphazardly in boxes and bins that are overflowing, it's really like going to a junkyard. The back 1/3 of the store is apparently "off limits" although there is nothing demarcating where this "off limits" line is at (it's not a separate room). If the owner had one iota of business sense he would clean the place up, organize everything, and throw away the 98% of stuff that will never sell...but perhaps he thinks the day will soon come when thousands of Englebert Humperdink fans will descend on the place and demand their own tattered copy of "christmas tyme".The neighborhood itself is incredibly ghetto, and the store is every bit as tired, dusty, and raggedy as its surroundings (there's a vacant Montgomery Ward two blocks away...and they went out of business 10 years ago!). I'm all for patronizing hole-in-the-wall mom and pop joints, but in this case "pop" can't be bothered to do anything other than run the cash register and the boom box.I'm not saying to stay away, but just be warned, you will spend an hour or more trying to find anything worth buying, and even then, it will be covered in a 1/8" layer of dust and will likely be found in a 40 pound bin laying about on the floor. The saving grace is that the prices are rather low.

One of the last of the old-school CD shops in the Akron area, with new and used discs and a super-knowledgeable sales staff who between them seem to know every popular music album ever released. A lot of local musicians hang out at Time Traveler, and its fun to listen to the chatter while browsing the stacks. Good prices, great service, convenient location on State Road in Cuyahoga Falls, north of downtown Akron.
