I've enjoyed Casa several times and each time had a very enjoyable time. The food was good and plentiful and the drinks were generous.
Great ambience in the old bank building setting with classic chandeliers and an extremely high ceiling.

Great ambience in the old bank building setting with classic chandeliers and an extremely high ceiling.

Pros: Great atmosphere and service

Cons: Nothing really

It might of been the concept of Casa Capelli's that drew me to the restaurant in the first place: Italian & Mexican dining.

Casa Capelli's is in an old bank in Ashtabula, which is singular in and of itself, and the interior shares that uniqueness with high ceilings and decorated with cherubs and flowers. It was then, and only then, on entry, that I thought the food was being to be good.

After waiting several minutes to be seated (it was basically empty), a maitre d' approached and took us to our seats. The wait wasn't long before a waitress approached and took orders for drinks. My girlfriend and I ordered a water and a lemonade. After scanning the menu for a short period of time, the waitress was back and inquired our orders. I ordered the Chicken Rockefeller and my girlfriend asked how the Top Sirloin was, in which the waitress responded, "Erm...not bad. Easy to cut." This was my first point of concern. My girlfriend, usually being a picky eater, looked perplexed. In addition to the Top Sirloin and Chicken Rockefeller, we ordered sweet potatoes and garlic mashed potatoes.

We were served our salads and garlic bread that came with the entree, which were both good. The House Italian that came with the salad was also good. Probably the best part of the meal.

When our entree came out, what I first noticed was the amount of...slop (which consisted of bacon, Parmesan cheese, onions and spinach)? On top of my chicken. Then I noticed my garlic mashed potatoes, which looked like they were made with Bisquick. Then, I saw the look of true horror, the sheer anger on my girlfriend's face, trying to saw through her Top Sirloin. To end on a lighter note, she enjoyed her sweet potatoes that were coated with butter and brown sugar.

The taste of the food was...okay. Nothing more, nothing less. It was some of the least aesthetically pleasing food I've ever seen and to pay the amount I did, for okay food...well, it certainly will deter me from ever going there again.

Pros: Good House Italian, and House Salad. Easy to access parking lot. Neat location.

Cons: Average, if not below average food. The entrees were not aesthically pleasing either.

This is the place to enjoy a wedding reception, retirement, or family reunion. If you are looking for a restaurant that has a personality perfectly paired with wonderful owners this is it! Formerly a bank, you can still dine with the dough! There is a table set up for a small party in the banks vault. Enjoy histiry and fine dining in the heart of Ashtbaula. You will be warmly greeted by the owner Oscar through out the evening, ensuring that you meal is as expected or he'll make it right! Enjoy great food, a full bar, warm friendly atmosphere, and make sure to take a little "Casa" home with you. They bottle their house salad dressing and it is for sale at the restaurant. We always have a few bottles at home. When we entertain at home, our guests are always amazed at how good the sald dressing is. You have to enjoy some warm garlic bread witht he dressing. It is awesome!!! We have recently become fans of the new dish: Chicken Paprikash. Awesome flavor, nice portion, and always delivered by true professionals that know how to make the evening special. Reservations are needed for the vault room in advance. handicap accessible as well. Oscar the owner is very warm and hospitable, make sure you try some of his local and peruvian wines!!! AWESOME selection. Full fine dining menu, full bar, smoke free, and always plenty of room at the table for appetizers and entrees!!! Check out the vault!!
