This is the place for a real music lover to go, especially if you have a love of old instruments. Mike is very passionate and loves to talk about the treasures you can find here. Leave yourself a good amount of time to browse, you never know what you might find.

There's some nice stuff up on the third floor, but most of it is horribly overpriced. I'm sorry to say it, but most stuff at Mike's is pretty much junk. I tried out a bunch of their vintage stompboxes, and every single one of them had something wrong with it. One had a broken control, one sounded weak, another hummed so loud I thought it was going to destroy the amp's speaker.

I bought an acoustic there once, but when I took it to a respected local tech for a set up he said the neck was screwed up, it was unfixable, not playable in his opinion, and he said they over-charged me. I think that pretty much summarizes Mike's Music. They have "vintage" stuff, sure, but vintage doesn't always mean "great." If you want something that's "old," then Mike's is a fine place to shop, but if you want quality gear at a decent price I can not recommend shopping there.

Pros: a lot of rare stuff

Cons: most of it is poor quality and/or overpriced
