Best Doctors/Staff & Animal Hospital On Earth!
by Matthew S.
After reading some of these reviews, I am appalled! I have a 40 year history with West Park Animal Hospital. Yes, way back to the Dr. Meister days! All of my experiences have been nothing but exceptional! Recently our cat had a very large mass in his abdomen, which Dr. Adam found during a simple exam. He took x-rays to confirm his findings. He then operated on the cat the next morning, never once giving us any false hope. Gee, the cat is doing fine today, Dr. Adam is our hero! He saved our cat from an almost certain death. Kudos to all of the staff and doctors there. We have always been treated with the utmost respect. When something goes wrong with YOUR pet, it is not the doctors fault, as with any medical treatment, or lack there of. Sorry if some of you people blame the doctors and staff for your own issues. Pets are an enormous financial, emotional and physical responsibility.

NEVER again
by Bobbie R.
A co worker recommended this place. Staff was very unwelcoming and rude.the waiting area is cold and uninviting. they acted like I was bothering them when I asked for paper work to fill out. I don't know what the people do at the front desk really do other then chat to one another? when we were finally called back we were put in a over heated exam room which again was very uninviting. at this point no one has even talked to me or my dog! or even offered a gentle pat.some women came in the room plopped down a piece of paper and pen and said "fill this out" never looked at me or my dog even once! and walked out. the vet came in and stood against the wall never even tried to say hello to my dog until she backed away from him as if she didn't trust him. only then did he extend his hand which only made her back away even more. I told him we were there because she had a pimple near her eye that was getting bigger. he offered no real diagnoses and never even got close enough to look at. he did not ask any of the questions I been asked at our other vet. he did say she had a nice coat and proceed to check her hind quarters which made her very use easy. they mad a huge deal about bring my dogs records but never even looked at them. I had to show him where she was due for her shots which she was not due yet. but he suggested if we were going to kennel her it would be a good idea to do the early. I was uneasy but because we move lot I agreed. he said he would need to take her out back for the shots and was I OK with that? UM NO! he left and was gone for quite sometime. my 10 year old son and I wanted to run out of there it just didn't feel right and my dog NEVER acts that way! mean while you can hear employees in the back chatting and carrying on. finally he came back gave her the shots but wasn't sure what to do about her eye! he offered a cream and I agreed so I could get the hell out of there. he left again I finally walked out to the front desk and asked where is the check out and was told to go back into the room they do it in there. now I'm confused? there is nothing in there other then a sink. where is the computer? some women came in handed me the cream and the bill. my dog went to sniff her like all dogs do and she very meanly told her to go away! never tried to pat her or talk to her. I paid by check because the was no way I was going to let her walk out of that room with my credit card! she left then came right back and told me I free to to go. no one even said good bye as we walked past the front desk! I wanted to get her spayed but no one ever asked about her health! the Dr. was a freak and the staff is rude and NEVER EVER let any take your pet from you! who knows what they do in the back room!!! come on it's a shot! you do not have to leave the room with your human child why would you for your pet?! And there were NO treats!!!! this was the must uneasy I have ever felt in a vet office. I would never trust leaving my baby with anyone there and we will never go back!

Very good care
by Jeff H.
This hospital is clean, new, and well maintained. The Doctors are always friendly and have taken especially good care of my cat and dog. Like anything else, when it comes to health care for your pet you generally get what you pay for. Prices are going to be slightly higher at places with well qualified staff and better equipment.

don't place blame where it is not due.
by A L.
i am very sorry about your bulldog, but understand that veterinary staff do what they can with the symtoms present. if they did xrays and nothing could be diagnosed, i'm sure they would have suggested a barium series to be able to view any obstructions not viewable by xray alone. if this option was offered to you (which i am SURE it was) and you declined it, i'm sorry. bland diet is one, of many, treatment options for what your dog presented for. i understand cost is the number one factor for people to feel "cheated" when dealing with sick animals, but everything costs money. you can't be sure what will happen to your dog when you purchase/acquire it. bulldogs are known for cherry eye, it's almost synonymous with the breed. i'm sorry you bought it from petland, as those animals seem to always have problems for owners.
i take my own animals to this clinic and have never had a problem. the prices are somewhat on the high side, but they offer the best equipment available at this time. every clinic has it's downfalls, don't be so quick to judge.

NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN
by Anonymous
would I go to this hospital - not even for a dire emergency!! I took my cat here and the vet said she needed to do lab tests to see what was wrong (no quote given) of course I said ok, AFTER she told me that the cat was going through renal failure and the exorbitant amount of $$ it would cost for the treatment. I talked to my husband and we decided against it. ONLY THEN did she tell me that the treatment probably wouldn't work anyway. They brought me the itemized bill and I questioned them about a VERY high charge for an IV....they then told me that if they wouldn't have given him an IV he would not have lived through the blood test. Why do tests if the animal can not even live through them? THEN they charged me to put him down (thought he was 1/2 dead anyway?) $350 later...one dead cat. Once I got over my anger they sent me a sympathy card which only reminded me of their incompetence.

Will use for ER and that's it
by Liz K.
We took our new rescue dog there to be spayed. When we dropped her off in the morning we never got to meet the vet (Dr. Borys). When we picked her up in the evening we still weren't given a chance to meet or talk to the vet. When her stitches became infected and we took her back a few days later we still didn't get to meet or talk to the vet! A tech took her from us in the packed reception area and came back a short time later with our dog and a bottle of antibiotics and that was that. Her stitches were removed by a tech 10 days later and in the end we never got to meet the vet! (When we asked to meet him face to face we were told he was in surgery and the next time told he wasn't even there!)During all of our visits we spent most of our time in the reception area where the techs would come and take our dog from us and then bring her back with instructions for her home care.We have been there before with our other dogs for the Emergency Care Clinic and absolutely love Dr. Amy--which is why we decided to try the hospital for our new dogs spay... We will continue to go to the ER part of the hospital for Dr. Amy alone--she is great and very caring. For our non-emergency vet needs we'll go back to our old vet.

A nice vet clinic
by john d.
My cat recently was treated for pneumonia at this clinic. She was very sick and when I saw the xrays the lungs were completely white and I was shown a normal cat xray and the lungs were black. My cat was in the hospital for a week and the cost was very high, but now she is back home and the doctor saved her life. For me, my pets are family, and the cost was worth the outcome. Everyone was nice to me and the doctor was always able to talk to me about how my cat was doing.

Why?
by Jason M.
when Toby wasnt doing any better, why did you wait at home the next several weeks without seeking additional treatment or a second opinion? I am not a vet nor a doctor but if my dog or son was sick and not getting better, i wouldnt wait at home about it until it was too late, then try to complain my pet didnt magically improve. I take my cats to this clinic and have always found the staff very helpful and knowledgeable.

West Park’s Failed To Diagnose~ my dog died two weeks later.
by lisa h.
We brought Toby into West Park and they did a series of X-rays. They told us his colon was impacted and they wanted to keep him over night and give him an enema. They called us the next day and stated they wanted to give him a second enema and continue to monitor him over night. West Park contacted us after the second night and told us Toby was fine and gave him another X-ray just to be sure.
The week following, Toby was not doing better. He continued to strain to go to the bathroom. We contacted West Park several times over the next two weeks and got various, experimental suggestions from the vet including prescriptions for antibiotics, laxatives and anti diarrhea meds as well as mineral oil to "help stool slide through."
None of these treatments were helping. Toby began to vomit and he was too lethargic to lift his head out of it. He still didnt have a bowel movement and now was unable to control his urination. He yelped, cried and could barely get comfortable or even move. His entire lower body was shutting down. When I called West Park to voice my frustration with the Veterinarian, her receptionist and other colleagues told me to find somewhere else since I was unhappy with them.
Toby Died That Night!
Ultimately, the time wasted by West Parks unprofessional and incompetent staff could have been used to seek out specialists to properly assess the situation and remove the tumor. Instead we were misled, ignored and overlooked inturn resulting in Tobys unnecessary suffering and death!

my cat deserved better.
by thomas h.
I took my cat there because her mouth smelled awful. She had lost a lot of weight and was not eating right. The doctor there said she had nothing in her blood to indicate anything and that she had possible teeth decay (after the y looked in her mouth.)
I looked into my cats mouth and could tell there was something wrong. So I took her to another vet.
A few hours after I dropped her off, they called to tell me she had cancer of the mouth, that half her tongue was gone, and that there was not much to do but put her to sleep.
In other words, I blew $200 for a small bottle of antibiotics, a cortisone shot, and a mis-diagnosis at West Park.
I am very disappointed and would not recommend them for anything.

Good Place
by Guy E.
I have had to take my cat there, twice, for emergency treatment. They have always been very professional, and up front, about what the treatment would entail and the cost. It is a bit "pricey" but I believe they are worth it. The Vet that works the after hours shift for emergencies - Dr. Amy - is excellent. If she ever leaves to start her own practice, I will make a point of following her.

Don't Let the Nice Facility Fool You
by Anonymous
I adopted a kitten from a local organization and a free neuter was included in the adoption fee. For the neuter to be free I had to bring my kitten to West Park. The facility is new, clean, and nice, but don't let it fool you. The staff is unorganized and unprofessional. I was on hold for over 5 mins each time I called to check on my kitten. When I brought him in for his appointment, we were not expected, and when I called to check on him, they could not locate my kitten's records. When I picked him up, he was dirty and smelled of urine. There is so much more I could say that was wrong with my visit. I would NEVER use West Park again.

Expensive, not affordable as other said, added costs not quoted at start
by Anonymous
Very nice people and place but when I got my bill for having my dog neutered it was much higher than I'd been quoted because there were all kinds of added fees for things I'd think would be included in the spaying price I was quoted initially. It was over $400. I don't like the nickel and diming. I'm sorry I went there, which I did because they had laser surgery and my vet didn't. It was nice that when I called late at night because the dog's stitches were itching there was someone to talk to.
I'll go there for emergencies but not as regular vet.

I love these folks!
by Jannett A.
My dog is a patient here and we also use them as our boarding facility. The facility is amazing and it is always clean and well kept. The staff are friendly and helpful. I've never had a problem with Sunny after she's been boarded there. Always clean and they even wash her linens that I left with her prior to me picking her up!
I can't say enough good things about them. Highly recommended.
PROS: affordable, friendly, clean
CONS: busy at times

I used to bring my dog here when we lived closer - I loved the people working there. They're all animal lovers and truly enjoy what they're doing. They keep it well maintained and clean, and their prices are outstanding compared to their competition. Everyone is so friendly and take so much care in everything they do, whether it's something little like clipping nails, or administering a shot!

We take our dog to another vet but I've often thought about transferring here. Our daughter takes her dog her and it's wonderful! The vet is great and their prices very competitive, and it's always clean. The staff is friendly and always willing to help you with any questions that you have.

The staff here is great! The vets are knowledgeable and friendly - both with your pets and you. The front desk is a pleasure to work with as well. My only complaint is that they take your dog out of the room to administer the vaccinations - like I stated above, just my pet peeve. I'd rather be in the room. Oh - affordable and they just built a brand new, gorgeous facility.
