Ratings_icons Cincinnati Bell Wireless has terrible, unacceptable service

Brian C.

I have no clue what Jay V. is talking about. How on Earth could you give this wretched company a good rating? How many good ratings do you actually see on here? You even wrote yourself how you have problems with dropped calls and network busy messages, and not being able to send picture or text messages. Those things happen all the time with their network. Unfortunately, I have their service now. Literally, there is something everyday on their network that doesn't work. It's obvious you accept less, and like poor wireless service. That stuff shouldn't be happening if they actually provided good service and their network was decent. I never had problems like that when I was with Verizon. You shouldn't have to hang up everytime when you get a network busy message, and dial your call again and again. Your messages should go through without any problem. Hello, Mcfly?? There is a reason they are cheaper and don't have contracts-their service stinks!

Ratings_icons Cincinnati Bell Wireless is great for me

Jay V.

I have had service and have had a good experience for years. I have also had Att and Verizon. All have worked about the same for me. I have experienced the "call failed" and "network busy" before, but if I hang up and call right back it always goes through. I have a blackberry and there have been times where picture messages would not work, but usually it fixes itself. Or I have to "retrieve info" and it works. They are by far the least expensive carrier around and if you have internet at home and a blackberry, their new plan is awesome. Everytime I visit a store, everyone is nice. The only time people say the reps are rude or messed up is when people don't get what they want and then come on a site like this and write a review. It's pretty funny actually. I heard a guy in a store next to me once throw a fit because "he woke up and his phone was broke in half" . Come on. And Judy C, those reps make alot of money. More than you I bet.

Ratings_icons Cincinnati Bell = Barely A Step Up From String & 2 Cups

Cincinnati Bell is a complete joke. They have horrible service, there phone selection is awful, and their text messaging services suck! I don't know how many times I tried to text people and the message would never send. Sometimes it would even say it sent but the person never got the text. A complete waste of money. My advice, save yourself the money, time, and aggravation and just get Verizon, or basically ANY other wireless provider.

Ratings_icons Cincinnati Bell Wireless is AWFUL!!!!!!!!

Kristie V.

How can a company still be in existance with such poor business practices? Their billing system is a nightmare...at least every 2 billing cycles I have to spend 20-30 minutes on the phone trying to correct THEIR billing errors. The latest fiasco occured when I purchased a new handset (not a new line, just upgraded a handset on an existing line). For some reason, this equipment purchase imploded their system, causing my 'bundled' rate to re-adjust back to the full rate (a $45 difference in price). After 20 minutes on the phone with the so-called 'customer service' representative, I was told that I should pay the full amount this month and the adjustment would be made on my next bill...WHAT??? Under what circumstances should I be accountable for paying for their mistake? And, I'm supposed to trust that they'll get it right on next month's bill? No thanks. I told them I wasn't paying an extra $45 this month because of their shoddy billing system. They said there's nothing they can do to adjust the amount that I owe this month. I have worked for mom and pop companies that have better billing systems than this. Terrible, terrible, terrible service!!!!!!

Unless you like spending lots of time, effort, and energy making sure your bill is correct every month, I would highly suggest steering clear of this wireless service.

Ratings_icons Cincinnati Bell = Class Act!

I've had Sprint and Verizon, and Cincinnati Bell Wireless is the best wireless company I have ever had. I am not just saying this to be combative; I don't know what everyone is complaining about. They have no contracts, and sure their call center is in Indipakistawhatever (who's isn't), but they always end up taking care of me. The only people I ever see complaining in the stores are broke a-s that don't pay their bills, or have bad credit. I seriously save about $400 a year compared to other companies. Everyone gets mad at their cell phone provider eventually, but CinBell is the only company that I feel that actually cares. I almost left them for ATT to get the I-Phone but I bought one unlocked off of EBay, and it works great on CinBell's network! The coverage is great, and the representatives in the stores are very friendly. Personally I visit the locations in Beavercreek, at The Greene and the Fairfield Commons mall. Cincinnati Bell = Class Act

Ratings_icons Cincinnati Bell Wireless SUCKS!!!!

CBW Is by far the worst company I have dealt with yet!!!! I was lured into buying 7 phones on a 24 month contract for my company after I did that they overcharged us every month and refuse to credit the money, and the two blackberries I got are complete junk. Mine has been replaced FIVE times in 12 months and they do not see a problem with this. I have been blown off by my incompetent rep, store assoc, business manager and the vp of sales. So to you I say F--K O-F!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am having vinyl letters cut and put on all of my trucks pronouncing my hatred for this compand and I am also considering a youtube video. So everyone do not go with this Sh-t company stay with Verizon they are by far the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ratings_icons Cincinnati Bell Wireless is absolutely horrible

Tim A.

I agree with Judy C, I don't know why in the world Nick LaGay(I mean Lachey) would endorse this wretched company. I mean he's a 98 degrees has-been. In that commercial he's in, is that a gremlin that comes out of the box? lol I have nothing good to say about Cincinnati Bell Wireless. Both the customer service and wireless service are horrible. Now, they've outsourced their customer call center to the Phillipines. That was brilliant. I currently am on my second Nokia phone with them and am constantly having problems with dropped calls, poor voice quality where it echoes and cuts out, voice and text messages I never receive, I can't send text or mms messages from outside the Cincinnati area, there are many dead zones throughout the city, and the wi-fi network is always going down. Do not go with Cincinnati Bell Wireless, you will have nothing but problems. The company is full of tightwads who refuse to spend any money to upgrade the network or add more towers. Literally, there is something that doesn't work with their wireless network every single day. Whether it's the wi-fi, 3G, or text messaging, something is guaranteed to go down on their network. Go with Verizon, you will be much happier.

SHAME ON NICK LACHEY! I cant believe Nick Lachey endorses this company. Cincinnati Bell is the worst company. The HYDE PARK PLAZA store is ran by complete idiots! They would rather play on their cell phones than help a customer out. And to ask them for a little assistance is completely not in their vocabulary!!! They are the rudest ever. Hello Customer service, you work for the people!!! Without us, you would be out of a job! You make what $8. to $10 an hour?? Get off the high horse!! Now all of a sudden there is contracts at Cincinnati Bell! Wasn't Nick Lachey just saying last year on Christmas commercials "We are NO CONTRACTS" What happened? People are better off at VERIZON or better yet, phone cards. Buying a phone at Walmart would be better than CINCINNATI BELL!! Hey, Mr. Burns pay attention on how your company is going down hill!!

Ratings_icons Cincinnati Bell Wireless customer service HA!!!

Mickey m.

Wow! Where to start. I switched my home phone to cin. bell and had nothing, but issues. I have to have people able to reach me at home. They promised I would keep my old number. Yeah, not true. I did finally get it after over 2 weeks of waiting. Then I had no voice mail....again waiting forever to speak to someone to resolve this....you wait time will be 34 minutes. Are you serious then I set up a call back to my wireless and guess what? Dropped call so I have to jump through the hoops to get another call back and wind up spenind over 45 minutes on the phone trying to resolve my issue only to get told to go back to the store where I had signed up. When I threaten to cancel they say I signed a contract and if I cancel I am responsible for the total amout of the cheap phone I got that they say is worth $250 dollars. I am completely dissatisfied with their service, their customer care, and every aspect of them. I would never recommend them to anyone.

Cincinnati Bell will easily take my $5 a month for phone insurance, but when a phone breaks (which has happened to me twice), they will not allow me to file a claim. They will sit on the phone and deny you a claim for hours. The supervisors will do the same thing. After you bug them for hours, they will offer you something that is not as good as what the insurance you pay for should be.

EVERYONE WHO HAS BEEN SCAMMED BY CINCINNATI BELL: Send a complaint to the Better Business Bureau. Are they seriously even a part of this? Anyway, send complaints. Maybe someone cares that they scam people.

Ratings_icons Cincinnati Bell Wireless has very poor service

Ronald S.

Where do I begin?? I have never experienced problems with a wireless provider like I have with Cincinnati Bell Wireless. First of all, their customer service people are incompetent and are liars. There are so many hidden charges it isn't funny. The wireless service itself is atrocious. I have a new Blackberry and am always having poor voice quality where it cuts out and echoes, dropped calls, missed text messages, mms messages that are never received, and poor reception. I have called customer service at least 6 times and nothing is ever done to fix the problem. I'm told, we'll open a trouble ticket. Yeah, right. I've even called their corporate office. Nobody at this company cares about delivering good quality cell phone service. They lie by claiming they have the best network in Cincinnati. NOT TRUE! Avoid them!

Cincinnati Bell charged me an early termination fee!? Not to mention the fact that their blackberry's are useless. I had a $30 dollar data plan that I could barely use. It was like have a 28.8k modem. Or worse, maybe. The phone could not even receive mms messages? I got text messaged 15-20 minutes after my girlfriend had sent them...? I switched to Verizon about halfway through a month and they charged me for the entire month as well as the early termination fee that their customer service rep said would not happen. All in all... This has to be the worst cell phone provider I've ever dealt with. I definitely do not recommend using their services.

DO NOT go with Cincinnati Bell Wireless. Their wireless service is the worst I've ever seen. Even worse than Sprint if you can imagine that. They claim to have the best network in Cincinnati according to an independent study. What a joke! Who did they pay to come up with that crap? I have a brand new Blackberry with them and am constantly getting dropped calls, horrible voice quality, missed text messages, very bad reception and dead zones within the city of Cincinnati limits, When I attempt to connect to their Wi-fi service, half the time it is down and won't work. I don't receive many of my e-mails either. When you try to contact their joke of a customer service line, you often have to wait at least 30 mminutes just to get a live person. It's ridiculous. When they do come on the line, they are incompetent and always blame your phone for the problems. It isn't your phone, it's their crappy network. Also, when you go out of their "home service area" you won't be able to receive text or sms messages from other people. AVOID THEM!!

Ratings_icons Cincinnati Bell is the worst ever!

Shawna L.

CAUTION: Cincinnati Bell's customer call center is now located in the PHILLIPINES.

I have never experienced a series of negative calls to reps like I have. The reason for my call was to get information on the Home Security System that Cincinnati Bell offers for my home. I called the phone number that is listed in the phone book to order the Home Security 513-565-SAFE (7233). The first two reps that I talked to was from Accounts Receivable and were foreign and they kept repeating the reason for my call and reading the call script ("I apologize for your wait"). Even though I have a balance of $75 that is due I notified them that I will be paying my bill on Friday 9/11/09. After we got that straight, they informed me that I would need to speak to someone in Residential Sales at 513-565-2210 and transferred me there. After being on hold for at least 25 minutes, I got tired and called 513-565-2210 to speak to someone in New Accounts. It automatically transferred me to Accounts Receivable again because I owe a balance. I then asked to speak to a Manager because I got another foreign rep that was going through the script. I had to tell that person to read the notes because I already told the last two reps that I would pay the bill on 9/11/09 and that I simply wanted to get info for Home Security. I was told that there wasn't a Manager available and transferred again to Residential Sales which I sat on hold another twenty minutes. I called 513-565-2210, input my phone number and again I get transferred to Accounts Receivable. It took (5) phone calls before the last person told me to go on the internet to look at the specific pricing information because no one could transfer me to the particular dept that handles Home Security. Why couldn't that person simply go on line to give me the information? Then at the end, he asked if he took care of all my needs. How pathedic! The only thing I can say is thank you and hung up. HELL NO... he didn't take care of my needs! This was UNACCEPTABLE. I have lost all CONFIDENCE with Cincinnati Bell's Customer Call Center. I had to pour me a drink because I was so stressed after all of those calls. Later when I placed my online order over the internet, a Cincinnati Bell rep called me within 30 seconds of pressing the "SEND" button. If I knew this, I would've went online in the first place. By the way, the "NEW" guy in Home Security said that yesterday was his first day. He was way more knowledgeable then the buffoons in Accounts Receivable that had no clue then how to properly handle a call and read notes from a screen. I also work in a customer contact center. I am a Full Account Manager and I try to be aware not to be hard on reps, but clearly those reps are not fully trained and I will try not to call Cin Bell anytime soon. I will go on the internet instead.

Cincinnati Bell is horrible. after a year of service they start texting me alerts and jokes. One of the alerts is the same thing everyday. When i first got service with them i had two lines and when the first bill came i was charged for three. they ended up waiving that, but when i started the plan i was told there would be no activation fee, and what did i find on the first bill, an activation fee. I call customer service and they could not remove it. I paid the first bill minus the activation fee, and went back to the girl who sold me the plan and waived the activation fee. She advised me it should have been waived that she would take care of it. It was never waived and i just continued to pay my monthly payment and not the activation fee. By the time i received my third bill i received a few calls from Cin Bell and they turned my phone off. It was never waived and i ended up paying the fee, in fear they were going to put a mark on my credit. My suggestion, if your in the market for a cell phone do not go to cincinnati bell.

Ratings_icons Cincinnati Bell Wireless is *expletive*

Nathan M.

For the past eight hours, my phone's SMS service has been nonfunctional. Sort of. I can text anyone who isn't on AT&T, but no one else. This happens once a month, roughly, and it annoys the HELL out of me (Sam, of course, is the one I can't text).

Presumably it's a technical issue. A TECHNICAL ISSUE. Come on now. I'm a freshman computer engineering student and I know there is no "technical issue" that causes this once a month... the messages just don't get where they're supposed to be. They are sticking in CBW's servers and never moving on... This problem costs them nothing, so have they ever worked out the SINGLE LINE OF CODE that is broken? Nope.

Furthermore, CBW's entire tech support process includes putting you on hold until you hang up. I was on hold for an HOUR for a second-tier technician after confirming, three times, that the first tier technician gave me inaccurate and irrelevant information. SHE was under the impression that no one could text at all, and that it had been fixed. Both were, of course, untrue.

Here's the kicker: I have never, EVER reached a technician. NEVER. I have called them seven times, and EVERY TIME, I've waited in queue for a tech, but not ONCE has one picked up the *expletive* phone and TALKED TO ME. Never.

If you intend to sign up for Cinci Bell Service, don't.

Cincinnati bell sucks. Im am really dissapointed with the way they handle their customer. Why do I have to pay for the reinstallation fee when I am just moving and transferring service. Im also a customer of direct tv and when they found out that I'm moving, they gave me everything for free in five months. Premium channels, NFL sunday ticket free upgrade and monthly fee just because thay know that I;m a valued customer. Every company is trying to court you to be able to stay with them by giving such freebies but its a total opposite with Cincinnati Bell. Also, they cannot port my old phone number. Is this what the technology is all about. Every existing wireless company are competing to to port your number to switch with them and how come CBell can't do it. Resources and technology are limited, hmmm? So I say they suck. and they should improve their business. If you are travelling to US states and somebody ask you what type of service you have, you would say "cincinnati bell". don't you think its weird. something not to be proud of.

Ratings_icons Cincinnati Bell Wireless is awful!!!

Cincinnati Bell Wireless stinks! I just switched service since I couldn't get any "bars" in my new house. They have terrible customer service and are so bad about hiding policies to charge you extra for services. I was online and couldn't find anything under policies, billing, wireless service - anywhere, that stated that they do not pro-rate when service is discontinued. So I received a bill for 89 dollars- for 5 days of service. And they did cut off my phone service so I couldn't use it immediately, but still feel it's ethical to charge me. Then when I called customer service, the supervisor was almost rude about the policy stating that it was somewhere in writing, she just couldn't tell me where, and seeing that it was not clearly stated on the website, I am guessing it was no accident. I was a paying customer for 5 years, never late on any payments, and a good customer...well, I will be sure to let anyone who will listen how they treat customers. Overall- HORRIBLE service!

Ratings_icons where crappy service is met with ignorant and inept employees

c d.

I am so tired of having so many issues with Cincinnati Bell due to the incompetency of the employees. I have had nothing but issues with my phone starting with the first technician who came to my house to set up my service. My most recent experiences have been just as horrendous! On or around the 17th of July I called Cincinnati Bell to change around my services to include eliminating one of the phone lines we had to cut back on cost. When I spoke with the representative she said the one line would shut off around 5pm well several hours before 5pm one phone line went dead and the other phone line went to fast busy, so yet again we were without phone service. We attempted to contact the services department however we were met with complete and udder ignorance or someone whos first language was not English; needless to say we were out of service until Tuesday July 21st, after numerous telephone calls to Cincinnati Bell. The technician showed up tested the line and determined yet once again it was a Cincinnati Bell issue NOT our issue. As usual I jumped online a few days later to start scheduling my monthly bills for automatic draft for the first of August, at which time I looked at Cincinnati Bells website to check for the difference in my bill for the following month and SUPRISE SUPRISE nothing had changed, not due to the lack of service or change in service. So I asked my husband to contact Cincinnati Bell the following day (23rd) to have the adjustments applied. Well we did receive a $15.20 credit for being without service however; the bill was not adjusted to reflect the new service we had signed up for. So on the 24th I contact Cincinnati Bell to find out why we had not received the credit we should have received. I spoke with a representative on the 24th between 1500 and 1520 (not exactly sure of the time), she said I made the changes to my account after the bill had already been printed and they are not printing another bill for this. I advised I did not ask for another bill to be printed that we had our credit for an entire lack of service and when I look at my paper bill it is not on there but when I look online it is on there. She proceeded to tell me the credit would be on my next bill, I advised her I was NOT paying for a service I was not receiving since Cincinnati Bell bills for almost a month in advance, she said yes we do bill a month in advance. I advised I wanted the credit I was due, she told me that if she gave me the credit it would be too much of a credit so I would have to wait until next month. Are you kidding me??? Is this the epitome of intelligence Cincinnati Bell strives for? If someone is due a credit regardless of the affect to the bill it should be given, but doing things the right and/or easy way is not the way of Cincinnati Bell. We have already taken it upon ourselves to seek an alternative for telephone service we will now be seeking an alternative for internet service and then we will NEVER have to deal with Cincinnati Bell ever again, what a lovely day that will be.

Ratings_icons Cincinnati Bell Wireless has lost long time customer

Gina A.

After being a Cincinnati Bell Wireless customer for many years (since about 2000) I am fed up and disgusted with them! I had a billing question/dispute on my June bill due June 26. Called a few days before it was due, rep said that computers were down, couldn't answer my question, would call back. Waited and waited with no answer. Mailed payment on July 12. Phone was disconnected for "non-payment" on July 15. Received new bill for July on July 14 due July 26. Called, Rep sent me to AR which stated " I am surprised it wasn't shut off sooner". Told them I had already mailed check, but only response was pay over the phone or would not be turned on. This was 19 days past due!!! They apparently have changed their policies, and are shutting off phones even if your bill is one day late now, according to the supervisor, Debbie. I even bought a new phone on 7-13-09 and there was no mention of my account, even though the sales persone pulled it up. Luckily, I can return the $150 phone I just bought. They have lost a long time customer.

Ratings_icons Cincinnati Bell Wireless is TERRIBLE with customer service!

Wayne K.

Cincinnati Bell customer for 20+ years and had wireless over 5 years. The billing and service were terrible, there were charges that were unexplained and had to be adjusted on my bill. Roaming charges when I hadn't left the local service area. I was questioned about a local number that I was billed for calling and the "customer service" rep INSISTED the call was made from California, where that phone had NEVER been! 2 days later a supervisor called me back to apologize for the error and adjust my account HOWEVER, she insisted on "upgrading" my account for "no additional charge" the next bill was $40 higher than before! The lack of customer service from Cincinnati Bell has been absolutely unacceptable throughout my last 5 years of service with them, it makes me wonder how many times I didn't go over my bill and simply just paid it monthly rather than finding their mistakes. I strongly recommend staying away from Cincinnati Bell!

Ratings_icons Customer Support? Does CBW have a clue?

Andrew M.

Second time user at Cincinnati Bell Wireless
Started a new account in April 2007 and had a pleasant experience until it came time to end my service. The long and short is simple for over a year and a half paid my bills when I called CSR Lisa on January 7th 2009 and tried to settle up on all current and future debt, she happily collected payment but told me I must call back in order to cancel so that I could end on the end of a cycle. April 15th called spoke to CSR Greg who questioned my departure from service I explained I had a work phone and just trying to end my service he informed me I still had pymt so again I made a payment and he said I am good and CBW will not be needing anymore collection. I gave my new phone number to CBW so that if something were to pop up they could call me. Apparently after those pymts there was more to be billed out and the amount i paid was not current. So instead of getting a courtesy call stating I had an overdue amount. After over a year and a half of customer loyalty and consistent pymt they thanked me by calling the phone i just disconnected did not even attempt my new phone number and sold my bad debt to collections. Why after about $2000.00 worth of pymts would i want to stiff CBW on one more pymt. In their greeting this phone conversation may be recorded and monitered for quality assurance is a lie, I absolutely wish they recorded my conversations b/c clearly i tried to take every step necessary to end the relationship positively!!! What incentive would I have to stiff CBW over a pymt. I travel, I work my bills get paid over the phone b/c my mail is not monitered as regularly as i would like to see. The facts are I paid, I tried to settle up and in the end was rewarded by just passing me off to creditors that should have never even been involved in the first place. Anthony and Michael the managers were condescending and not willing to pass me along to anyone so that I could settle this in an appropriate manner. I fail to believe that these two have nobody to answer to. As far as quality control and recording, this would have played to my favor had my situations actually been recorded for quality assurance. I will not stop fighting this, this is not over if anyone out there with any commonsense can see this and help me that would be incredible. Why would CBW not want my business in the future I paid, it makes no sense to establish bad debt at the end of a long period of good customer account relations. Someone Please! help

Where do I begin? I agree with the other reviewers on this site. Cincinnati Bell's wireless service is really bad. It's even worse than Sprint if you can imagine that! I have a Motorola Razr, and am constantly getting dropped calls, bad voice quality, missed text and voice messages, busy network messages, very low reception in urban areas, and line static. These are problems that could be eliminated if Bell would invest a little money in upgrading and expanding their network. Believe me, it does NO good to call their customer service line to let them know about the problems (if you can get through). I've even called and written to their corporate office and nothing is ever done to fix or address these problems. Nobody at that company cares. The Wi-Fi network is now having a lot of problems as well. This kind of service is unacceptable when you pay $100 a month. I DO NOT recommend them to anyone.

Ratings_icons Horrible customer service

I have not had many problems with product itself, but the customer service is horrible. I have had the same problem about the account being in my fathers name for well over a year and have spoken to them approximately 10 times to have this corrected. Each time I spoke with them I had their assurance that the problem would be resolved and each time absolutely nothing was done. I spoke to Art Thomson a customer service manager this time. He has assured me that the problem has been corrected (okay Art, I believe you). Will let you know if it works. products not bad, customer service sucks.

Ratings_icons Cincinnati Bell Wireless is Bad

Cincinnati Bell Wireless (and DSL and home phone service). The Wireless service was horrible, the customer service was worse. Cincinnati Bell only cares about taking your money, not about providing a service that is valuable, useful or pain free to maintain. If you have a problem with your phone, your service or your bill, give it up... your stuck. Pay for the useless phone, pay for the useless service, call customer service and they will make you want to cry. It is a horrible, horrible, horrible feeling to be trapped with this company. You will never get satisfactory resolution if you have any issues. I strongly recommend Verizon, they care about their customers.

Ratings_icons CB Wireless service is really poor

Robert M.

I signed up with Cincinnati Bell Wireless about two weeks ago and am already having problems. I agree with these other posts-I'm having a ton of dropped calls, network busy/error messages, text messages that aren't being received, and terrible voice quality where it cuts out a lot. I like not having a contract, but I'm sorry, it's not worth it! Verizon is so much better. Plus, if you try to contact Cincinnati Bell's customer service line, you have to wait at least 30 minutes for a live person every time. This kind of service is ridiculous and unacceptable. I've called their CS line and their corporate office, and nothing is ever done to fix the problem. Avoid them like the plague.

Ratings_icons Cincinnati Bell Wireless=poor voice quality, poor regional coverage, etc.

Tim L.

Yet again nothing changes at Cincinnati Bell Wireless. I have been a loyal subscriber since 2005. After numerous complaints to customer service, and to their corporate officers about problems I've had over and over with their service, nothing is ever fixed. I'm on my 5th new cell phone from CBW and I STILL have bad voice quality where it cuts out and echoes, frequent network busy/call failed messages, dropped calls, and lost voice mails. Plus, the reception around the Cincinnati area isn't very good. Especially in Southern Clermont County where I live. This is good proof that very little money is ever spent to upgrade Cincinnati Bell Wireless' outdated GSM tower software. They need to expand their regional coverage as well in Southeast Ohio and Eastern Kentucky. There are many dead zones in these areas. Verizon and Sprint have much better and widespread voice service.

Horrible!! Had service longer than 8 years. Like most I had problems myself. Had bought 2 razr phone for a total of $500, and now I can't use them. Contacted Motorola and the told me to contact Cincinnati Bell for the unlock code. Guess what they don't want to give me the code. I guess not they got their money. Hopefully will get away from Cincinnati Bell altogether.

Ratings_icons Cincinnati Bell's Wireless (GSM) and Customer Service is the WORST

John B.

My wife and I signed up for Cincinnati Bell's Wireless Family plan about two months ago and have totally regretted it ever since. From the beginning, my wife and I have had a lot of dropped calls, network busy/busy network messages (where you can't call out), bad voice quality (echoing), poor reception (even in the city), and not receiving voice mails. I was out of town on business and used my CBW phone to call home. I ended up being charged roaming fees when they were supposedly included in the plan. When I called customer service a few times, no one seemed to care about the problems I was having. Their customer service people are not knowledgeable at all. They kept blaming my phone for not working properly. My wife's phone works just fine-it's not the phone, it's their old network. Cincinnati Bell will not spend any money to fix/upgrade their network, so problems will continue to keep happening. I would NOT recommend them to anyone. You would be blown away with the lack of service and lack of caring this company has for it's customers. I sure was. Go with Verizon, you will be a lot happier.

Ratings_icons Horrible Billing Issues

A F.

Last year I was going to upgrade to highspeed with Cincinnati Bell. Instead of paying only for their DSL, I also got charged a monthly bill for their dial-up which was $14.99. I had decided to NOT go with dial-up through them and simply order the DSL and they charged me for both.

Skip ahead a year (after I switched my home phone and DSL to INSIGHT Digital and Broadband).

I got a cell phone through the Cincinnati Bell. Price seemed fairly reasonable. First few bills were totally fine. I changed my phone number (for free) for my wireless service and the next thing I know they are charging me TWO phone bills. Yes, I had unlimited text on my plan which would come to around $65-$70 per month. Unlimited text and data was $14.99. They charged an additional $27 for 126 sent text messages and taxes as well as some pro-rated charge. I ONLY changed my phone number! No phone was added, no new plan, no change at all but my phone number.

So I call customer service and they tell me they did notice a mistake and they'll adjust $18.90 off of my bill. They won't adjust the tax somehow it adjusts itself during billing cycles. I wasn't satisfied with this, and to be sure I did call a second time to verify this with another customer service rep.

Even though the first rep did adjust part of the bill, she still managed try to sell me additional things on my phone I didn't need. I was not happy that I called them with a billing issue that they caused and they tried to get me to spend even MORE money! That's bad business practice.

The second person I called to verify what the first person said was upset with me for calling back. She basically said that I was wasting my time to call them a second time, that the first person explained everything to me. I said to her that I see NO point in paying $6 in taxes on charges that I didn't even owe and that were adjusted. She even said to me that it was an error I had started by having my number changed instead of saying that they have a crap billing system. She tried to make me feel stupid and question me about why I was calling a second time.

The customer service and billing with Cincinnati Bell is awful. People I know are all switching over to Insight. There are always hidden fees with Cincinnati Bell. I noticed this with my home phone bill. It seemed that the 'free' long distance incurred a monthly charge. If you didn't EVER use the long distance you still were charged for it.

I am VERY happy with Insight Digital Phone and am going to switch to another cell phone provider ASAP.

My calls drop often with Cincy Bell. I NEVER get bars in most places I go. This service is pretty bad. I do get the 'no network coverage' a lot, I get a lot of texts that won't send for some reason. I'm NOT happy with the service.

Ratings_icons CINCINNATI BELL HORRIBLE

Chassidy S.

I have had nothing but problems with Cincinnati Bell. They have great prices, but horrible service. First with Zoomtown I returned a router to them, then a month laster I was charged $150 for it. Well I had a receipt from wehre I returned it. I was told that it would be take off my bill. It was! Then over a year later I go to buy a house and realize that I have blemished credit because Cincinnati bell charged me for the router and sent it to a collections agency. I went in to a store to show them my receipt and have it removed from my credit report, and they said there was nothing they could do I would have to take it up with the collections agency. Of course the collections agency said cincinnati bell would have to remove the charge. It still is not resolved. Most recently my cell phone bill has been wrong. I stopped receiving paper bills, so I went on line to pay it. There was nothing on line. When I called I was told that my bill had been added on to someone elses home phone account. They advised me to pay more normal bill price over the phone. I did. The next month same problem again it was charged to a different account. So again I paid it over the phone. Now the third month I have a bill for $227. This is $127 more than it should be. So I call and ask what is going on. I was treated horrible five times in a row. Things were said to me like "its not our fault you dont pay your bill" and "why would you bundle your cell phone with someone elses home phone" I asked twice to speak to a supervisor once I was placed on hold for hours, the second time I was just plain hung up on. Then finally I spoke with a supervisor. The payments that I made for two months over the phone had been applied partially to my cell phone, and partially to the other persons home phone account. Because of this half of my cell phone bill for two months paid someone elses bill. The supervisor said they would not credit the 130 dollars because it was for services I used, and even though it was their fault my bill was on someone elses account they could not control that the payment paid the wrong bill on some other persons account. I would not recomend them to anyone. One would think that keeping a loyal customer happy is worth more than $130.

Ratings_icons Customer since 2004, feeling like a sucker

Dan E.

CBW has devolved to a new low regarding customer service. I have 11 phones at my business. Twice we have been suckered into continuing to use them by promises of account reps and service that never materializes. Coverage area is good, and signal is typically fine. Both times we re-upped they were more than happy to support us to get the sale of new phones, but once they got their commission, customer support was impossible to get. The service/sales stores are now manned by only a few 17 year old bimbo McDonalds french-frying legion rejects who have no ability to fix your phone. Online or telephone support is a time drain and frustration of unimaginable proportion as they transfer you from the endless advertisements to the "I can't help you" pinheads (who are either in India or some remedial training center). Next time I will switch plans just to avoid having to spend days of my own time to get the bugs worked out of their products.

I give three starts to Cincinnati Bell and only because of the customer service people that I've had to deal with recently. The service itself is pretty decent and relatively inexpensive but having to deal with someone at the store when you have a problem is a whole other story. So if you are OK with your phone, then keep it. But once you have an issue, be prepared to spend some time dealing with lots of Cincinnati Bell employees. Who knows if you will get it resolved.

I truly have mixed feelings about Cincinnati Bell, in some areas they do a good job, like the wireless service which was cheap and actually worked in most locations - I have no compalints. The phone was also very decent and never malfunctioned except when it got really old. I can't say the same about local or long distance services. Internet connection keeps going up and down lately, and in bad weather especially. In the last few months I lost local service all together, and the customer service was trying blame it on faulty wiring in the house or a bad phone unit - it turned out to be a damaged line outside.

Hey its the only phone company in town so what are you gonna do? Well I went wireless so I dont have any problems, but had I went with a land phone there arent any problems with them. Plus they offer cell phone service and internet service. So I would recommend them, but I just dont use them because their cell phone plans arent that good.

Ratings_icons Wireless better than residential

O D. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 9,700

I've had a decent experience with the wireless service and in fact was using it for almost 4 years. Then I had to deal with the residential and it was a totally different story. I was told up-front that the problem was most definitely within my house and I was going to be charged for someone to come out and take a look at the issue. I had to phone service for at least 2 days. In the end it turned out to be external line damage which Cincinnati Bell was responsible for fixing. At least they admitted to it.

PROS: 24 hr support line
CONS: Unfriendly service
