I had a mastiff that was hit by a car. Naturally we were freaking out, I was 20 at the time, 2 years ago. We called them because they were the closest and they said take him to medvet. We did and it worked out great they knew they did not have extensive equiptment to care for him, although all he had was road rash on one paw. ANyway they did his bandage changes every 2-3 days. They quoted me $20-$25 but it was always $35 or more. I started to do them myself. But they were friendly and tried to be helpful. They must just stink at math.

Pros: Gave great medical advice in my time of need, and good care

Cons: They do tell you estimates then change them.

both of the reviews below were by clients who either did not want to pay their bill after signing and estimate or who wanted a prescription for a cat we had not seen in 8 years. Sorry, can't bill because we don't get paid and its not good for the cat to dispense long term medication without an exam. we recommended an exam and the owner declined. Can't force her to bring the cat in. try calling your MD and getting a prescription if you haven't been to see them in 8 years. They probably won't even consider you a patient any longer. try getting into the exam room without paying your copay first! I am sorry these 2 people are unhappy. But I have other (10,000 plus) happy clients, and standards to uphold.

Pros: good medicine and compassionate care

Cons: in a part of town where its hard to let people bill

I agree with holding pets hostage.
This place has become cruet and unfeeling.
Let me note my bill was paid in full immediately.

However these people are a disgrace. They
do not stand by each other when temporary
workers make decisions. The head doctor
will not talk to a client when asked a few
questions. If there is adverse feedback to
this review, I will ask readers to refer back to
holding pets hostage review here and at other
sites. Reading between the lines it appears
that they make snap judgments, and engage
in poor or nonexistent communication with
each other and their desperate clients. They
have no coordination of efforts so it's all in the luck of the draw. They used to be good, if expensive, years ago,
but no more. It's really too bad.

I think this group of people are the best!! They not only care about the animals that are bought in, they also care about the pets, parents and families as well. The first visit with them was a rush visit and with no hesitation on their part they took my poor cat and saved her life. I never saw a group of people that were dedicated to saving an animal life like this group of wonderful folks. Been going to them ever since and anyone the I have recommended to them as loved it there as well.

We have been going to Whitehall animal Hosptial for years now and we have received nothing but he best care for our kitties there. We adopted out little 3 legged cat Peggy from them and they always treat her like a queen. These people are caring, decent people who will do the best for your animals. I would have no trouble in recommending them to anybody.

the bad review below is from a new client who brought her cat in for a horrible bite wound that was abscessed. she was given a full estimate up front and agreed to pay the full balance the next day when she took the cat home after treatment.
We treated the cat and had to call her 3 times the next day during which she proceeded to scream and yell at us. the cat was in our hospital for over a week before she paid us the balance. We kept our word and cared for and cured the cat. She just didn't want to pay her bill.

I called about my cat who had a punture wound in the leg from another animal. They said it would be around $60 dollars for visit plus antibiotics. When I took him there, he had a fever of 105. They told me it would be $500. I put $200 cash down. Told them I could post date a check for 7 days later. They would not take a check from a new client. They said it would be $20 per day for boarding. When I told them I wouldn't have cash til Thursday, they said it would be an additional $575. Altogether, it will cost $775 for a puncture wound to the leg on a cat. I love my cat and don't want to give him up, but it looks like I'll have to loose him because of their unwillingness to work something out. I'm a single mom of four who works hard, and I don't deserve this. My children are going to be devestated when I tell them we lost our pet.

My cat had a puncture wound in his leg. When I called, they said it would be around $60 to treat. I planned on worst case $150. When I got there it was $500. I put $200 cash down. I said I could post date a check for the remainder 7 days later. They would not accept this. They said it would be $20 per day for boarding. I called back after the weekend. I offered to go ahead and write a check knowing my bank would cover it, but charge and overdraft fee. They would still not release the cat until the check cleared. I wouldn't have cash until Thursday when I cashed my paycheck. They said it would be an additional $575. They neglected to tell me about a hospitalization fee. Altogether...I'm looking at $775 for a puncture wound to a cat's leg.

I have been taking my dogs and cats to Dr Duffus for 10 years and I can honestly say that I would recommend Whitehalll Animal Hospital to anyone who wants friendly, compassionate and top notch medical care. The staff is knowledgable and caring and my dogs get so excited to go there that they start barking in the parking lot. The prices are reasonable and fair and the medical care is excellent.
