Dr. Westerfield is a good vet. I would recommend him for routine care. His prices are affordable and he seems very nice and caring. He is very good at explaining things and really takes time to answer any and all questions. Dr. Westerfield suspected that our dog had Cushing??s Disease caused by an adrenal tumor and referred us to Dr. Cheryl L. Harris at Veterinary Oncology & Referral in Milford for an ultrasound. PLEASE make sure you do your own research on any specialist that you are referred to before you go. We had a horrible experience with Dr. Harris. We were treated terribly and she misdiagnosed our dog. She performed an ultrasound but told me that she could not see my dog??s adrenal glands, but typically if there is a tumor present she is able to see that with her equipment. I was skeptical and went to another vet for a second opinion. He had a second ultrasound and this very easily saw both adrenal glands, pointed them out to me, and even measured them. Dr. Westerfield was right about his suspicion; our dog has Cushing??s Disease which was caused by an adrenal tumor (that Dr. Harris missed). I talked to Dr. Westerfield about our experience with Dr. Harris and he was apologetic. Overall, I would recommend Dr. Westerfield, but after this experience, I will always do my own research on any specialist that anyone refers to me before I make an appointment.

Dr. Westerfield and his staff are very warm and caring, and we took all our pets (3 cats and 1 dog) to him for several years. He was able to diagnose renal failure in one cat, but completely missed the boat with our dog. If you have regular checkups and routine shot appointments, definitely go there. However, if your pet is ill, I would consider going elsewhere- King's Veterinary Clinic diagnosed our dog's ailment immediately.
