First Wok gives you a lot of food for a very low price. I highly recommend getting their food to go or at the very least, order off the menu. Their buffet is offensively bad and extremely limited and the choices don't seem to be refreshed very often. They say (meaning I say) the key to a good Chinese restaurant is how good their hot and sour soup is. Sadly, First Wok's is too inconsistent. One day it'll be perfect and the next it's like jello.

Their food to go is cheap and ready to be picked up in 10 minutes or less most of the time.

Last time I had the lunch bar it was good. I order pickup all the time because of the distance to me and the tastiness of the food. They are very nice and very quick.

Pros: The food and the speed

Cons: Haven't found any yet

★☆☆☆☆

My wife and I decided to try this nearby eatery recently. We did takeout, as we normally do for Chinese. We ordered pretty standard fare: Kung Po chicken, beef lo mein, a couple egg rolls, and crab rangoons. The food was ready promptly and we got everything we ordered, but that is where the positive aspects of this experience end. The meat in the entrees seemed to be of very poor quality, and the entire meal was extraordinarily greasy and rather tasteless. The outside of the egg rolls and rangoons was not the light and crispy texture I am accustomed to. I usually relish eating Chinese leftovers the next day, but in this case, I just threw away most of the meal. Overall, it was a very disappointing culinary venture, and I would not order from this place again.

Pros: Speed, Price, Service

Cons: Food Quality

Small but comfy little spot nestled in Hyde Park Square. I thought it was another personal lunchtime discovery about two years ago--but it's become the standard Chinese spot for my entire office. General Tsao's chicken is an all time favorite along with the chicken or shrimp egg foo yong. Really reasonable prices and friendly faces. Offers lunch buffet and quick carryout.

Pros: inexpensive, excellent fare, good portions (lunch)

Cons: small dining area, no delivery
