Went to Otani tonight for the first time. It will be our LAST time. The service was nothing short of abysmal. We were a party of eight but management made no effort to help the server. The kitchen staff needs a good swift kick to get them

It cracks me up that this place always gets rave reviews for their sushi. I think the Japanese food is good, but the sushi is awful. I ordered spicy tuna and I swear it had mayo with a little bit of spice to it slathered all over the top

This is one of the older, more established Japanese restaurants in the Columbus area. It deserves it, too. Their sushi is great, and its just a cool place to go. They have great lunch deals, and at night they have karaoke. The only thing that kind of sucks here is their decor. The orange vinyl chairs kind of show how long the restaurant has been around. The food is excellent, but they could stand to update their atmosphere.

I cannot say enough good things about Otani. The service is fantastic, the atmosphere is subdued and relaxing, the food is top notch...this is, simply put, the best place to eat Japanese food outside of Japan. The sauri was better than anything I ate in Tokyo. If you can read Japanese I would recommend requesting the Japanese menu, since there are extra items on it not found on the English menu. If you don't read Japanese though do not fret, there probably isn't anything there you would want to order anyway. I found the prices to be extremely reasonable for the quality of food they serve, especially considering that eating a similar meal in Tokyo would cost about five times as much. Otani is sophisticated enough for business functions and laid back enough for casual dining. It gets the highest recommendation I can give.

My girlfriends and I always meet at Otani's for sushi on Saturdays. You can choose from a reasonably priced buffet or order right from the menu, either way its a bargain. The waitstaff doesn't speak English very well, but none the less
