Yeppers It is true
by Soupy S.
Yep I was working there until I found another job and I can testify lots of dirty pool going on there. Primo Furniture gets sent to a manager's cousins used furniture shop and any "good" clothes with designer labels or men's jeans get seperated and amazingly they are gone the next morning! Don't donate your stuff unless you just want it out of your hair.

Goodwill Industries is Greedy and Ungrateful
by Cindy S.
The bleached blonde boy told me that the manager was tried of people waiting for the price of something to come down and get sent to the clearance side of the store for a lesser price. So she started throwing the stuff away. Don't these fools know anything? Maybe your prices are too high to begin with. And throwing it away for spite? That is stupid people could use these items. No you just sort through the stuff take what you want and sell what you can and throw the rest away. Greedy ingrates!

People complain way too much!
by Nicole S.
I have never reviewed anything before. I simply just got on here to look at the hours of the store because I went to a Goodwill for the first time in Athens yesterday but I actually live in Lancaster. I just was bored and happened to read the previous reviews. You people are horrible talking about the "retarded" people that work there. They have rights too! I am sorry but "retarded" is no longer socially acceptable they are mentally handicapped. You people need to quit complaining over 2.69 for a pair of jeans when I am sure most of you could afford the $30-$50 dollars they ask for at the "in" places now. So deal with it and just have fun!

Goodwill helping disabled
by Patty H.
Since they moved to the new place, their prices have raised, which they said they wouldn't do if they took away the 1/2 price tuesday. The staff that works there is very rude. They never smile, say hi, or thank you! When you take donations, they don't even offer to help unload them. I quit donating because of their rudeness! Also, if the COO doesn't like someone, she just gets rid of them, even if she doesn't know who they are! When the long blond hair manager was there, she used to give stuff away and even deliver it for free!!! She even got a nice leather sofa for herself. It was donated but never made it to the store!!! Goodwill isn't what it is supposed to be!! To them, we are the poor and were giving to them, the rich. They keep getting richer and the disabled keep getting ripped off.

Getting A Little Better
by Rhonda P.
I have noticed since the move to the "new" store that some of the people previously mentioned in these forums are no longer employed at the GW in Lancaster Ohio. Which is probably a good thing. And yes some of these people are handicapped, I have worked with one of the men at Forest Rose (he was a client) a few years ago. I do not have a problem with that. These people need to work too.
I do agree they keep raising their prices. I went in and they now want 3 bucks for worn out jeans. I like shopping there for the most part. Most of the people are friendly. I got a hug from a guy who works there now I hadn't seen in years. I think they are over priced I realize they are trying to turn a profit and help handicapped people. But don't they realize they are not selling to the Rockaflellers? I know other people are saying people are buying this stuff and selling it on Ebay but come on not everybody is doing that. I wanted to pick a few "new" items of clothes for myself they other day and simply couldn't afford the prices. I was able to get 1 pair of jeans and a shirt. That cost me 8 bucks! Heck for 2-3 more dollars I could have had truly new clothes.

Goodwill In Lancaster Ohio
by Jennifer A.
I think the article written by "Mandie" was actually a worker at Goodwill. I know for a fact some of the workers are Handicapped. I have worked in hablitating them at another facility.
This store is okay and does turn over its merchandise pretty quickly since they have so very little to look at. Sure its a big store, but you rarely find anything of any consequence. Most of the stuff is sort out and left on the loading dock for a special few to pick up and resell on Ebay or at "Yard Sales" or sent to the Dress Code Consignment shop.
I know, why? well two reasons and I will explain. I had a about 3 lawn and leaf trash bags full of jeans that were fairly new and in style, I had sorted them out of our closets at my house. I donated them to the Goodwill here in town. I shop there almost daily. I kept looking for some of the jeans to come out they never did. I asked why? I was told "Oh, everything goes to Zanesville (the main office for this area) and they distribute it to where its needed". Also if you check online Goodwill has there own auction site which works like Ebay. So if you item has any value that you donated beyond a buck or two it gets auctioned or taken to Zanesville. So you are not helping anyone in this area.

No one is "mentally retarded"
by Mandy A.
My experience at the new Goodwill store has been so much different then what has been written here. I am a regular customer, because I love shopping here. I find wonderful brand name clothing at great prices. The staff are very friendly and helpful and not one of them as you so rudely put it are "mentally retarded". I donate nice things to this location and they are always put out on the sales floor. The store wants to put out nice merchandise and they definitely accomplish that. I am retired so I am able to spend some time here because I enjoy the atmosphere. I see a clothing rack come out at least every hour along with carts full of nice merchandise. I do not personally grab items to make money, but there are regular customers that do sell on ebay, they are able to find great buys on expensive items...this proves that the employees as well as Goodwill themselves are not being greedy with the merchandise. The prices are so much cheaper than salvation army...it's like treasure hunting because the items are not priced according to what brand they are or what shape they are in...all the clothing is a set price. 69 cents for kids clothes...1.09 for t-shirts...2.29 for jeans...ect. The manager (who isn't the southern lady) is so sweet and helpful... I was just shocked by these reviews...You need to check out this store and I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Ebay
by Cheryl S.
Yes most of the thrift stores have for years diverted items for sale to other venues Ebay being only one of them. I remember years ago watching a 20/20 special long before the Internet where a lady became a millionaire running a Goodwill Store. She would get the good stuff and sell it elsewhere.
I know a friend of mine who works there said they take the good stuff and set it aside and only sell the so-so stuff in the store. He said Men's Jeans are almost always not sent to the sales floor. And I have noticed you won't find many there and what is found are way out of style or trashed. Same with the plus size clothes only the nasty ones are sent to the floor.
They tend to overprice but not as badly as Salvation Army. Man they are wanting 5-6 dollars for trashed jeans.

Goodwill Thrift Store
by Sarah J.
Yeah the new store is nice much better than the previous store. I agree the staff is rude. I didn't realize Too Much Makeup Minnie (thats what my kids and I call here) was retarded that explains alot.
They are too high on some stuff they wanted 2.49 for worn out jeans and 20 dollars for some old vase made in China. But the kids clothes are a bargin. I too heard they let a certain employee pick through stuff first so it could be ebayed. Too bad for us.

New Store on Fair Ave
by Donna W.
I love this store and wish the other thrift stores in town were this nice. I feel like I'm in a department store when I shop here. They put out new merchandise all day every day and I could spend hours looking through it all. If you haven't been to the new store you should and the painting or mural on the wall was done by an employee. It looks awesome!

Handicapped Worker at Goodwill in Lancaster
by Anonymous
You have to realize that most of the workers at that store in Lancaster are handicapped. The "Southern" Lady is the Supervisor and the Blond who wears too much makeup and the others are Mildly Retarded (no pun intended) I don't think they are otherwise employable. I know she gets most of her jewelery out of the showcases, and I have heard the Southern Lady ask her if she paid for the items and so forth.
I know they used to have half price day which they have discontinued which is a shame. I think though they mostly cater to the Ebay crowd anyhow now. I have been told they have certain people who get to pick over everything before it goes to the sales floor and whatever they think won't sell on Ebay goes to the floor. It can lead to poor selection.

Yes I agree the New Store is Nicer But Less Parking
by Teresa S.
The new store on Fair Avenue is nicer, but the parking is bad just like everywhere else in this stupid town. They have raised the prices some. They will get some items and think they are priceless treasures and mark them way too high. Evidently somebody stupidly buys them, cause they don't hang around long. I do like the new store since they have a little more stuff.

Best Thrift Store in Lancaster
by Anonymous
By far the best thrift store in town, good prices for the most part you will occasionally see somethings overpriced but as a rule no. Clean odor free and the new store rocks. Sometimes the staff can be a bit rude the only nice one is the lady with the southern accent. She is always nice. The one who wears too much jewelery and makeup and the heavyset blonde are terrible. Some of the guys who work in back are pushy. They are continually bringing out new items and if you are in their way (or so they think) they will knock you over to put the item out.

Average store

The Lancaster Goodwill store is lacking in decor, and ambiance. The quality of products to choose form is low, but the average income of those donating is low, so I guess that is to be expected.
