Took my 9 year old Rat Terrier here. She had tooth problems. The receptionists were a little cold, but the nurse and doctor (Kao) were excellent and friendly to not only me, but my pet as well. She needed at least one tooth extracted, so we got an estimate. He was able to do the surgery the next day, and ended up pulling 11 teeth (which he showed us, and it was easily visible they all had needed to come out). He answered some more questions we had as well. He stuck to the estimate, despite the extra teeth, which is awesome in my book (when was the last time you went to a HUMAN dentist and they did that!). He will definately get any return service for any pets I own. On our way out, the receptionists were a bit warmer, and our pet was returned completely untraumatized (she was calmer than when she went in, I think). That speaks well of the care they take with all the animals in a small spot, I think. Bob and Ellie (two apparent office animals who are rescues) also speak to how much they care about animals in general. I would note that I think the "roof" on the fake "hut" inside has probably never been dusted. I don't think this matters regarding the care of the animals, but this and the initial coldness is why they didn't get a 5.5 review.

Dr. Kao is absolutely the best vet I have ever had the pleasure of taking any of my animals too. I met him when he was working at a busy office in MI, with multiple vets on staff who - all except for Dr. Kao - epitomized a 'rushed' visit. So, when Dr. Kao left that office and opened his own private practice in Oregon, OH, I followed him down there and have never, ever been disappointed in the least. In fact, to the complete contrary. This is a man who truly cares about all animals, has immense compassion and actually spends time with his patients and their owners - every time. I have moved to NJ now, but upon a recent visit back to Michigan, took my 'new' rescue dog in for his very first vet appt and Dr. Kao, along with his entire staff, were amazing. And to the person who commented about his office 'decor' - it may be outdated, but that is because Dr. Kao's priority is affordable treatment for all animals. If you want a vet with a fancy office, expect to 1) pay thru the nose; and 2) get exactly the type of service you're not seeking. It's not about the money for Dr. Kao - its about the animals! Do your self and your pet a favor and take them to the best vet around - Dr. Kao!

My first pet is no longer with me as a result of being improperly diagnosed and treated. In addition to that, recently I sustained a superficial 5-6mm scratch on my finger while administering medication into my new pet's mouth as prescribed by Dr. Kao prior to our visit and even though Dr. Kao has a complete medical record that verifies my pet is fully vaccinated (including up-to-date RABIES vaccinations), Dr. Kao reported to the scratch to the department of health it as a ""vicious animal attack"" and a ""possible Rabies case."" So, because of this rediculous and fraudulent report that was filed, I have to jump through hoops and pay another vet to verify the obvious, that my pet does not have rabies! I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS VET AND WOULD NOT RECOMEND HIM TO ANYONE!

I have visited this vet twice and had luke warm feelings. The staff was unfriendly and not carismatic at all the lobby is clean but very outdated and drab...Dr.Kao was great but I felt rushed and like he was to busy to take my worries to heart. I think they need to work on customer service and turn the atmospehere to a more welcoming one

My wife and I have been taking our pets to the Oregon Animal Hospital for more than 18 years and we have always had the best of care.. DR. Kao and his staff are well trained and compassionate people. No matter what the situation they are always ready with medical advise or just a warm smile and a consoling hug.. For the best Veterinarian care any where visit DR Kao and his staff..
