After purchasing an acoustic guitar I was searching for instruction and stumbled upon Valley Music while looking for an different instructors address. As I was driving down the street my wife noticed the Guitar Instruction sign on their building. We stopped and went inside where at the counter I encountered what was perhaps the most bitter and negative person I can remember in a business. When I said I had purchased a guitar her reply was "And you didn't buy it from us". I explained to her that I did not even know they existed until we saw the sign while driving by. Her reply; "so what you are telling me is all the years we have spent money for advertising in the paper and on television were just wasted." I tried to redirect the conversation to get away from the confrontational attitude she had by saying I had the guitar for about 2 weeks but hadn't done anything with it yet. Her response; "So you bought the guitar and don't want to do anything with it!" This went on and on until I just stopped talking at which point she got out her schedule book and wanted me to sign up for lessons!!! I explained that I was still looking and not yet ready to sign up until I had found the right instructor for me. Still not done lashing out at me she said "so you will end up with an out of work waiter or a college student trying to make extra beer money instead of our instructors who all have degrees." We left and will not return nor recommend it to others. Yet I felt sad that her bitterness of her attitude would drive away customers and she would probably blame everyone else for the business downfall.

Looking for a Steel Guitar Teacher in Toledo lead me to valley music. I was less than impressed with the store. They do have a lot crammed into a little space and the only thing more cramped were the lesson suites....I had to set up my steel guitar by the front door and then delicately guide through the aisles to the too tiny room. My instructor was excellent and gave me more than my money's worth - enough stuff for me to self study and get back on track after a many year layoff. After a couple of lessons it was just too much trouble and I had amassed enough material to get myself back on track...that and playing nearly every day either in rehearsal or at some gig...a couple hours a day has my head back into my playing. The music store... I haven't gone back and don't plan on it.

I would not recommend Valley Music after receiving the service that I did after buying an instrument for my daughter. The day I purchased the instrument, the gentleman I dealt with was very nice and helpful. I was pleased and purchased. After having some trouble with it and needing repair I dealt with a women who was very unfriendly and blamed the needed repairs on my daughter who had never taken the instrument out of our home. When picking up the instrument I received the same rude service and comments from the same woman. I will not ever use their service again and would not recommend.

This place was mediocre in my opinion. They have a lot of stuff cramped into a very tight building. I think business could be better if they would just buy a bigger building. The instructor wasn't bad, but I felt like I had to start from the very basics when I already knew all that and I could never do anything right. I ended up going to private lessons after one 6 week session. The did seem to have a good variety of music books and instruments though. A better place to shop for your musical needs rather than learn them.

This is a great place to find just about any musical instrument you may be looking for and any music class you may want. The building is on the small side that is the only down fall to it. I took piano lessons there for many years and never had a bad experience. The staff were always friendly and helpful when we would go in to look at other instruments too. The piano teachers were very well educated in there field and I hope to send my children there some day.
