We had spent the day at the convention center and were looking for something out of the ordinary for dinner. One of us remembered a great place to eat and we were off to downtown Cleveland.
Fat Fish Blue, while being in the heart of downtown Cleveland, is easily accessible and there is ample parking just down the street in the garage.
The restaurant is very large, making it easy to get in without reservations during the week. We were there on a Wednesday night, so we found we were seated right away.
The food is Louisiana style, from ribs to crawfish, down home cooking. We mixed up the menu a bit between the three of us, and chose from a number of appetizers and main dishes. I like things spicy, and the "buffalo tails" - crawfish tails in buffalo wings sauce, were just the spice I was looking for. We also ordered the catfish, which were done just right.
The fried chicken was a favorite as well in the main courses, as well as the "bubba's backyard" burger. The drinks were well mixed, and we sampled around the table all the fine dishes that were brought out.
The band that night was Colin John band, an excellent choice for a mix of blues and modern jazz. They were entertaining and we found the entire evening to be quite enjoyable.
The meals were affordable for three friends doing something special. The service staff was very friendly and accommodating and the restrooms were clean and well stocked. The entire restaurant, not being considered intimate, provided a friendly club atmosphere and was pleasant in its dcor.
If you love jazz and the blues, if you like fine down home Louisiana cuisine and if you are looking for a place that will make your groups evening very special, try Fat Fish Blue.
PROS: Great food, great music
