The title really says it all. Don't go here if you have a taste for cajun food, or creole food, or anything even remotely similar. If your idea of excitement is ordering something other than your 'usual' at Fridays or Applebees, this place will be perfect. Otherwise, it will bore and probably disappoint you. My shrimp po' boy was basically a fried shrimp, lettuce, and tomato sandwich, meaning it had almost nothing in common with an actual po' boy - and the hoagie bun was stale at that.

Don't go here looking for classic New Orleans drinks either. Their mixed drink menu contains exactly five items, and while the full bar might tempt you to order something else, when I tried, the terribly overworked waitress asked more than once if the drink I wanted was "on the menu" before I gave up and ordered one of the fairly tasty but overpriced Dixie Black Lager. If the lower octane stuff doesn't suit you (and you're willing to stick to the menu), be sure to note their signature "blue" martini - (you'd be hard not to, as they take every opportunity to push it). This drink deserves a special mention. Why is "blue" in quotes you might ask? Well, I don't know - it certainly is blue. Maybe they migrated over from the word "martini" because I can't think of a drink farther away from a martini than this coconut rum, blue curacao and pineapple monstrosity.

The bottom line: skip this place and stumble just a few feet further to E. 4th where you'll find a whole host of great, unique Cleveland restaurants much worthier of your patronage.

Don't go here if you're expecting Louisiana-style Creole or even Cajun food. I'm sorry, but Fat Fish just fries long-dead crawfish, etc, and subsidizes it with standard dipping sauces. The food is not anything special - very standard fried fare. That said, they do host live music from time to time...which I suppose is a good cultural mark.

We were out and about and walking around the streets of Cleveland on a Saturday evening trying to find a place to go hang out and have a few drinks. We got there and had to pay a cover charge of $15.00 per person which was expensive to just set at the bar and then once we were ready to leave, we had to set and wait to pay our check for 25 minutes! We had WARM draft beer and the service was terrible. I probably wouldn't go back there. Not sure how the food was. You be the judge.

I went here for the first time the other night. Not only was the food amazing but the bar was one of the most spacious and fun places to sit in the restaraunt. Not only did i get some great appetizers but i also got to enjoy the live music with front row seats! The bar staff let me know about some of the great happy hou changes they are making in the near future...i for sure will be attending!! p.s.... take your parking ticket in from the garage above...they will validate it for you and you get a huge discount!!

Like the other reviewer, we were put off by the BAD service. Since it is one of the few places to get gumbo and crawfish, you sort of have to put up with the service to get Cajun food. This has the potential to be a great restaurant. It's disappointing.

I had my graduation dinner there and I've been there before, both experiences for me were bad. The food took forever to come out and the staff didn't seem to care that we were so inconvenienced. When the food finally did come out it was not very good. It seemed overcooked, and just plain not good. I would not go there again and I do not recommend that anyone else does unless they want to spend money on mediocre food.

Pros: Good food, Good service

Cons: If you go on a weekend, you'll have to pay a cover and/or wait.

The wait staff was very nice and the atmosphere wasnt bad. But you cannot eat atmosphere. The food was absolutely horrible, if you have ever been to New Orleans you would understand that the food would not be fed to dogs. Straight to the swine trough.

Fat Fish Blue continues to be one of the best reasons to make the trek from the suburbs to downtown Cleveland. Fantastic food, great blues bands for low cover, and cheap adjacent parking make it a no-hassle excellent restaurant to go again, and again, and again.

We had spent the day at the convention center and were looking for something out of the ordinary for dinner. One of us remembered a great place to eat and we were off to downtown Cleveland.

Fat Fish Blue, while being in the heart of downtown Cleveland, is easily accessible and there is ample parking just down the street in the garage.

The restaurant is very large, making it easy to get in without reservations during the week. We were there on a Wednesday night, so we found we were seated right away.

The food is Louisiana style, from ribs to crawfish, down home cooking. We mixed up the menu a bit between the three of us, and chose from a number of appetizers and main dishes. I like things spicy, and the "buffalo tails" - crawfish tails in buffalo wings sauce, were just the spice I was looking for. We also ordered the catfish, which were done just right.

The fried chicken was a favorite as well in the main courses, as well as the "bubba's backyard" burger. The drinks were well mixed, and we sampled around the table all the fine dishes that were brought out.

The band that night was Colin John band, an excellent choice for a mix of blues and modern jazz. They were entertaining and we found the entire evening to be quite enjoyable.

The meals were affordable for three friends doing something special. The service staff was very friendly and accommodating and the restrooms were clean and well stocked. The entire restaurant, not being considered intimate, provided a friendly club atmosphere and was pleasant in its dcor.

If you love jazz and the blues, if you like fine down home Louisiana cuisine and if you are looking for a place that will make your groups evening very special, try Fat Fish Blue.

PROS: Great food, great music
CONS: none!

What an amazing night my entire group had at Fat Fish Blue!!! Normally, my law firm hosts Happy Hour Partys at Fat Fish Blue, so, I am there early after work. This past visit we came to see an amazing blues band. The ticket price was ONLY $5!!! Our service was wonderful ans so was the food. The chef is very talented! He even came by our table to see how dinner tasted. Talk about being treated with kid-gloves! What a fun place. The parking was only $2! There in no place like it in Cleveland! Bourbon Street right smack in the middle of Cleveland!!! I'll be back for Sunday Brunch!

I absolutely love FFB, going there is always a treat! I highly recommend the Catfish Lollipops served with their jalapeno sauce, it's complete heaven! Also would recommend the Carpetbagger dessert to share with your date. It's divine!

Just before New Years My fiance and I went to Fat Fish Blue. It was a Wednesday night, and well Not only was the service excellent but we were seated beside the band. The band was GREAT! Ususally when you are in a restaurant with a band its too loud to hear the pearson next to you let alone the person across the table (especially if you're seated next to it), the service usually lacks and if the band isnt too loud they arent that good. Mind you this wasnt the case for this restaurant. If you like cajun or southern food, Light Jazz, great service, and an excellent atmosphere then this is the place for you. Also as an added bonus if you let on to the waiter that its your first visit than you get a gift certificate for your next visit.

Fat Fish Blue has a very romantic atmosphere. The food is awesome! Live jazz bands on Friday nights are great, but I could do without the $10 cover charge because of it.
