Highlander Motel

My reservations for Parent's Weekend were just Cancelled! I made reservations a week ago and informed the manager I would be have a later check in time which he said was ok. I found out last night I may not need Saturday so I let them know in case they need to use it. I was told if I didn't take Friday and Saturday I would be cancelled for Friday. Shocked and upset I told the lady I would keep things as is and deal with any complaint later. I let her know that Ive never had a hotel tell me I had to take a certain number of days. I was told because they were not a chain they could have any rule they wanted. They even told me when people called to ask about one day only they were told they didnt have any space even if they did.

It was a callous and cold experience and I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone!

The Highlander is a modest, locally owned motel on a tree-lined street just west of town. It is clean, cheap, and easily accessible to the University and the center of the Town. There are no groveling doormen, pillow mints, faux walnut paneling, or other fatuous tokens of luxury - just honest value for your lodging dollar. I have stayed there several times with my family, and recommend it often to visiting friends.

The Highlander is always clean, room has proper heat / cool, The refrigerator in the room keeps the beer very cold. The main door is wide enough to allow you to park your chopper ( no baggers) in the room and this is without moving any furniture. No curb to speak of at the front door makes it easy to get bike in room w/o it running @ 2:00 am.

We rented a room at the highlander hotel when we lost power for a couple days over the summer.The rates is good and almost always has a vacancy.However the outside of the hotel seems to be a hangout for local people.The noise was load up till around 3 am until we finally had to call the front desk for them to remedy the problem,only to be told that they were also paying guests so there was not to jkuch they could do.The decor inside is very dated and could use a makeover.It is however conveniently located near all the local restraunts in athens.
