I inherited a very inexpensive sewing machine from my great Grandma.I thought I would try to sew with the machine.I have not sewn in many years and forgot how to string up the machine.I took my machine to Beaches to see if they could help me.I was greeted by the same nasty old lady in the note above who told me since I did not buy the machine from her she could not take 5 minutes to help me string the machine. Please note there were no other customers in the store and she was just playing on the computer at the time.I offered to pay her for her time and she again refused.I took my machine and left I found help and Lukes sewing center was very helpful.I guess Beaches doesnt know the meaning of customer service.I will tell all my friends to shop elsewhere.

Im disappointed to hear all the negitves about such a great little store.I used to take classes at Beachs in the basement and have not shopped there for years.I bought a Bernina sewing machine from them and just recentlly was going to upgrade to a newer machine.I was suprised to see how dirty the once quant little store had become. It is cluttered with junk vacumes and broken machines.I guess it has new ownership as I was greeted by a nasty older woman who was not intrested in addresing my needs.I took my machine and my business elsewhere.

I bought a NEW Dyson vacuum cleaner from a local flea
market in Sept of 2010.I was told by the salesman it was a new vacuum and I paid 350.00 for it.I was also told it had a factory warranty of 2 years.I had a problem with it and took it back where I bought it and was told Beachs Sew and vac sold me the vacuum and was no longer involved in that store. So I contacted Dyson and was told I had a refurbished model and had no warranty through them.So now im stuck with no help. From reading the other comments on here I can see why they are not in business.I have contacted the better business and am waitng to hear back from them I will keep you posted on the outcome but I will tell everyone to stay away.

I too will advise you to stay away from Beachs.I bought a [RECONDITIONED} vacuum from them and it was stinky and dirty and had no suction.I used it for 1 day and took it back and was told I clogged it up with pet hair. One problem I have no pets lol the old lady that works ther I think her name is Pam told me I had to come back and talk to another lady named Carol.I will never shop there again.

I took my vacuum in to be worked on as I have for many years and was told The man that I have been dealing with Ron no longer worked there.I was told my Simplicity vacuum had a bad motor by a dirty little fat man who was very rude and tried to sell me a Dyson I was told my vacuum that I spent 900 for was not worth fixing.I than took it to another dealer and found that I had a sock clogged in the vacuum and it cost me 25.00 to fix. Please do not ever take anything in Beachs to be fixed.

I bought a Bissell Pet vac from Beaches in Oct of '09. At first I thought it was the best vac I had ever bought, then 2 months later it wouldn't work anymore. Brought it in to Rob the inept tech as mentioned in the earlier review. He told me it was my fault the inside of the vac was all melted and could not be fixed due to clogged pet hair. Mind you this is a PET vac. I told him I have taken some mechanic classes and never heard of such a thing. He finally came to the conclusion to give me another vac and pay a difference in price as he did not give me a handbook for the bagless vac nor did he tell me that if the dirt in the cup goes over the max line it would overheat (which I told him I didn't think was true anyway). He called me back a few days later and told me he would give me another one at no cost as he felt bad (the only thing he felt bad about was that he wasn't dealing with a woman that didn't know what she was talking about). I brought it home and the extension hose didn't suck up anything, the vacuum wouldn't pick up the pet hair on my area rug and dust and dirt was flying out the bottom of the back directly at me. I called him twice after this incident with this vacuum. The first time he told me to keep on using it and he would find me another one in a week. The second time I told him That wasn't good enough that my house was worse off than it was before due to the fact the vacuum had dirt and dust flying all over my apt. I returned it a few days later. He called back a few days later saying it was fixed. I picked it up, brought it back home, used it 5 days later and it was doing the exact same thing... he didn't fix it!! This time I got sick from the vacuum flying dirt and dust at me and my house being generally dirty since I haven't vacuumed it since the first week of Jan. and this was Feb 16. He was not in when I brought it back. The other sales people did not know what to do so they took my phone number and address down and said they would deliver another one to me the next day. Never heard from them. 2 days later I went to the store AGAIN. He said he didn't have one for me yet. I told him I wanted my money back as I had been dealing with this since Jan 12. He stated he doesn't give me money back. I told him I was going to bring him to small claims court and call the BBB. He laughed at me and told me to go ahead. I asked for the vacuum back, he laughed at me again and told me he THREW AWAY both of them!! I will be going to court soon and will be writing here again about Beaches inept technician.

Beach's has been in business for many years, and it shows! The people who own and work there are very knowledgeable, and want to help you any way they can! Service is very quick and done very professionally. Would recommend this to just about anyone who wants to buy a sewing or embroidery machine.

Pros: ~very knowledgeable~

Cons: small, cramped store

If you want to be told that you machine is "junk" go to Beaches. They tell everyone that their machine can not be fixed to attempt to sell them a more expensive machine. They also assume that all of their customers are little blue haired old ladies that are incompetent. The reality is that there technician is the one that is incompetent. One star is too good for them. I feel sorry for the ladies who work for Beaches. They really seem to try to be helpful but unfortunately the level of incompetence by there techinician is too great.

I remember Beachs from when I was a kid. My mother bought our vaccum from there and had it serviced there too. They sell sewing machines and service them as well. Located on the corner of 7th and Monmouth streets. They have a small parking lot on the side of the building. They have very friendly sales people and appreciate every customer. I take the time to go to Beaches instead of a chain store.

Recently my vaccum sweeper decided not to work anymore. i went to beachs and bought a vaccum that had been repaired. it was priced right. it works better than a new one.
