Let's just say the Connor Group is headed by Larry Connor who wrote he graduated suma (sic) cum laude and has visited all five continents on his company's official website. Residents are required to pay utilities to a group called Heartland that he also owns. Your rent covers the right to live there; absolutely nothing else. Do you really believe that they need $25 a month from each of 440 apartments for the trash dumpster bill? Do you find it a bit unfair that a one bedroom, one person apartment with no washer/dryer is charged the same for water usage? When they added mandatory Time Warner Cable to the "utility package" people who had no cable or had contracts with other service providers were told they had to pay the TW bill - and it was higher than an individual contract for the same services from Time Warner. Then there was the mysterious $3.99 service fee. The pool was under repair for the summer of 2010, the whole summer. The dog park area was dug up in December and is still mud, rocks, broken glass and other debris. Now a 5 x 5' hole that is over 3' deep has been added. They refuse to put up security cameras or make it a gated community despite numerous break ins to cars AND apartments. Check out The Connor Group website. They are not apartment managers; they advertise themselves as profit centers and brag about how they raise profit margins when taking over complexes by jacking up the fees for "amenities." Wait, those amenities are what the Heartland bill covers! Oh yeah, you will have rent, Heartland and the electric bill to pay.

Yes, the Meridian is conveniently located. That is why I've lived here for a few years. However, to say dogs are a nuisance is an understatement!!! I like dogs, but I hear dogs barking all the time. Pet waste is a HUGE problem. There is no way to avoid walking through dog urine to get into my apartment. It is in 2 of the three accessible entrance ways. Residents let their dogs pee in the hallways as well. I even had a dog pile in front of my door on one occasion. Residents also leave pet waste on the sidewalks. Additionally, someone punched a hole in the wall at the end of the hallway, which took two weeks for the leasing office to patch up. I reported to the leasing office the awful state of the hallway. Their reply (in June) was that the carpet would be replaced and the walls would be repainted over the summer. It is September, and this commitment has gone unfulfilled.
If you've seen the Meridian's website touting its luxury pool, don't be fooled. The pool has been out of commission for half the summer with no explanation. On two occasions, it was filled using a single hose with the water left on for 2-3 days and apparently the problem was not fixed because it's still not in working order. Oh, and residents pay for that water and the disposal of it through the sewer system!
Not only are the living standards declining, but the cost of living has increased exponentially. Utilities went from $30 to over $90 in two years IN ADDITION to a rent raise of nearly $100 per month. Each year I have researched other apartment complexes and found this one the most convenient and affordable. Here is my advice, as someone who regrets renewing the lease, find another apartment complex that values good business practice and preserves its property. You also pay for EVERYTHING. NOTHING is included in the rent. They even added a PEST CONTROL fee, along with charging residents for the electricity to light and ventilate the hallways.
