This cabin was beautiful and spacious! It was definitely in the hills so it was quiet and secluded. The hot tub was wonderful. Thank you:) My family had such a great time!

First I must say that the negative reviews on Chestnut Grove Cabins are simply outrageous! I have never met a more gracious couple than the owners. They were very friendly and helpful. The cabins were BEAUTIFUL, clean and had everything we needed to make our stay wonderful. It's so sad to see negative remarks when it is completely untrue. I am passing the word that in the Hocking Hills this is the best place to stay! Chestnut Grove Cabins was simply the BEST!

Let me start off by saying that I wouldn??t even be writing this review if the owners of the cabin would have been available to talk to when we checked out, or would have responded to my e-mails after we got home. We (me, my wife, our young son and our chocolate lab) stayed here in October, 2011. What a disappointment. The cabin was not very clean at all. The floors were filthy. Our white socks were practically black after walking on the floor the first evening. After that, we kept our shoes on. I think this is partly due to the fact (besides a lack of thorough cleaning between guests) that you can??t walk from the driveway to either porch without walking through dirt (mud in our case as it had been raining all day when we arrived). Next was the dust everywhere (mini-blinds, lights, woodwork, etc.). It doesn??t appear that our cabin had been cleaned well in a long time. I know that you??re close to nature out here, and things won??t be perfectly clean, but this was beyond just a little dusty. After opening the mini-blind on the upstairs window we noticed at least a dozen dead flies on the sill. As for the bathroom, there was black mold growing on the window, burned out light bulbs above the mirror, and the tub filled with water while showering. Heat was a problem also. There is no central heating, just electric baseboard heaters. The temperature control wasn??t very accurate, and either you were sweating to death, or it was cold. The pots and pans were worn out and had Teflon peeling off of them. The charcoal grill outside is rotted out, and there are no metal tongs or spatula that you can use with it (all the utensils except the silverware inside were plastic, not a good combination on a hot grill). Now everything wasn??t bad. The hot tub was nice, the gas fireplace worked well, and the atmosphere there was very nice and quiet. I just wish they had paid as much attention to the rest of the cabin. It may sound like I??m very picky, but for what we paid to stay here, including an extra cleaning fee to bring our dog, I think things should be clean and work as advertised. There were two other cabins at this property, and I don??t know how clean the other ones were, but ours obviously wasn??t. Maybe you??ll have better luck than we did if you stay here, but I know I won??t be giving them a second chance with my money. Next year when we go back, we??ll be staying elsewhere. We??ve had excellent luck in the past at Cabins by the Caves, Sunrise Log Cabins, and A Natural Place Cabins. Good luck, I hope this review helped you out deciding where to stay (or where NOT to stay).

This is a wonderful hidden gem in Hocking Hills. My boyfriend and I have stayed twice. The cabins are very roomy and open, each has a gorgeous view from the deck. The interior was clean and well maintained. I grew up in the country and

we recently stayed at chestnut grove cabins. the cabin was very clean and even though we didn't use it, the hot tub was very well taken care of, as well. the owners, george and penny, were very gracious and courteous. we would recommend this peaceful and secluded place for a nice getaway in the hocking hills area. very close to old man's cave and other attractions. laurelville, only about 8 miles away, has some nice places to eat breakfast and lunch.

If you're coming to visit the beautiful Hocking Hills area, don't throw away your money on this place. Our cabin wasn't clean at all and most of the furnishings were unacceptable. Although the cabin was made of logs the entire flooring was "look-like-wood" vinyl with no rugs anywhere, just furniture on vinyl flooring. Here is a run-down on the poor conditions: thick dirt on ceiling fans, mildew on the shower curtain, dated cheap furniture, old mattress', lots of burnt out light bulbs throughout, dead flies on 2nd floor window sills, disgusting pots and pans, old microwave (took 10 minutes to heat up one bowl of chili), ancient charcoal grill outside. The only thing that worked well was the fireplace and the hot tub. After we got home I got a bad case of chiggers that could have come from the mattress' and/or old furniture.

The bad thing is, they have half your money before you even check-in, so it's not like you can go check out these cabins and ask for a refund because you're not satisfied. Besides, where are you going to find another place to stay on such short notice. What rights do we as customers?

This was an excellent experience. Took the son and his family. Perfect for families or 2 or 3 couples. Wonderful hospitality! Location was great for the sights. Thanks!
Kendall must have been over doing it!

My friends and I had a terrible experience staying at the Chestnut Grove Cabins. The owners were extremely rude and did everything they could to make our party feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. The cabins were okay, the hot tub smell like rotten eggs and the customer service was AWFUL!!! We paid too much money to be treated this way! The owners at one point barged into the cabin and screamed in our faces when we did nothing wrong. This place is awful and I advise people from staying here!!!
